Nothing turns out right
there's no end in sight

Jesse wasn't one to sit around and mope about how shitty his life was. If he was then he wouldn't have time to do anything else because from birth until now the entire thing as been a massive steaming pile of shit. The way he saw it he had two choices: be the shit, sit and wallow in his self-pity OR he could be the fly. The fly appreciates the shit, loves it even, he makes the most of the shit he's dealt. That's Jesse, the fly. So instead of sitting around feeling sorry for himself he chose to get piss drunk, hopefully with his friend Hamish, and be a dumb kid for once.

He had sent an owl asking his friend to meet him at the park after his interning hours were over. It was late, sun already set, and he sat on a bench overlooking the frozen lake. It was beautiful, really, the moon shining off the ice, sparkling against the snow covered sand. One hand was in the pocket of his jeans, the other gripping a rather large bottle of Scottish whisky. Whisky was his first love, and he knew Hamish would enjoy to share it with him.

"Oi, mate! " Jesse rose smiling as his friend approached. He waved the bottle back and forth as Hamish approached. "Have a drink, yeah?"

Hamish felt bad that he didn’t get to see some of his friends as much as he would like to. He hated that as much as he wanted to spend time with them that some of them were just in different places now. Except for Walker. Walker could eat bricks and with everything that was going on he probably was. Edmund Delaney was not someone that you stood against, for any reason. He was a bastard, and a hard one at that and the fact that Walker and Dora had run away with his baby only made him more dangerous. He didn’t envy Truly or the couple at all. Hell, if anything he felt sorry for them.

He wished that he could see his mother, or meet his real family; but he was learning thanks to his Hen, that family was the one that you made. He was learning that he could take his time and be happy with that he had. He had no rush, he had Dina, he had his mother’s portrait and a home of his own, and soon he would have a little food shack of his own. He had an internship and NEWTs to worry about too, but the latter wasn’t something that he was too concerned over. He knew what he wanted to do with his life and who he wanted to be, so he just had to wait until school finished. The gift for Dina at his graduation had already been purchased. He knew it was just a promise ring, but it was a big deal.

He wanted a better ring, he wanted better timing, and to be certain that that was how she felt. He wanted to be certain of the future, but there wasn’t any way to be certain. He hadn’t even told her how he felt. He hadn’t told her anything and she had a year left in school. A year without him. He would have to accept it, but he wanted this future for them. He wanted her to know that he didn’t want anyone else in his life, he didn’t want anyone but her. He’d not flirted, he’d not wanted anyone but her. HIs Ma had always told him eventually he would find a lass who would knock him on his ass and he hadn’t believed her.

He was about to head back to Hogwarts to do some studying or find Dina and get in a little cuddle time if he could. Or a little bit of snogging. Who knew. He was mostly through the park when he heard a familiar voice calling out to him and he turned his head. Shoving his hands in his pockets he grinned and walked towards the boy, kicking some pebbles as he walked that way. ”Weel then, Look at wit the cat dragged in. Jesse, mate. Good tae see ya.” He said before sitting down next to the bloke. ”Aye, ta.” He took the bottle and took a swig before handing it back. He knew he couldn’t get too sloshed he had to go back to school. Dina would murder him.

NOTHING TURNS OUT RIGHT
THERE'S NO END IN SIGHT
Jesse was walking down a dangerous path by being out past curfew and he knew it. There had been others who dared to bend or break the rules and while most remained unscathed there were quite a few that hadn't been so lucky. Some had been tortured, others beaten, and a very slight few had been killed. Perhaps it was cockiness, or stupidity, but Jesse found that he wasn't exactly afraid. He had spent the better part of his life perfecting the ability to sneak around without being seen and so far his skills had proven successful. There had been a few times where he had narrowly escaped trouble. To any sane person it might have been a deterrent, but instead Jesse found fun in the excitement.

Tonight hadn't brought much excitement, the roads from Kolna were empty and he hadn't seen another soul at the park. He was safe, for now. Hamish had arrived and Jesse's qualms were silenced at the sight of his friend. It was remarkable how seeing his old friends from Hogwarts all but made him forget about his predicament. When he saw them, it was just like old times and for a moment he could pretend that Kolna didn't exist. Pretending didn't come easily though, especially when he found himself so eager to catch up on all that he had missed. Jesse had taken for granted that he was able to be invested in his friends lives once, and now he felt like he was in the dark while they went on living their lives. He wanted to know what was going on at school? What was going on with them? What the hell was going on in the real fucking world?!

"Good to see you as well," Jesse replied smiling as his friend took the bottle. It had been quite some time since he had last seen Hamish and he was glad to have his company. "How are things, mate?" Jesse questioned as he received the bottle back. The bottle was cold against his lips as he took a swig for himself. It burned like the dickens going down, but it brought a little warmth on the cold evening.
