Mrs Halloween
Is drinking at the bar again in New Orleans
She throws another dart
And narrowly avoids my lonely broken heart
Torn apart

There were many differences between her current job and the old one, so many that Pansy could spend a full day talking about them, but the one that called her attention the most was just how much moving around it demanded. Of course, she could have used either Tea Girl or the Travers' child to deliver things for her - and often did, when documents were too sensitive in nature to send through those dreadful flying paper missives. However, delivering things was no longer her job, not like it had been once upon a time in the Department of Mysteries. Oh, no. She had to discuss points in important documents, collect oral reports, have meetings with this or that person. Make sure nothing was catching on fire. And one should add managing the Minister's schedule and representing her in several meetings to the daily tasks of her job. Lady Lestrange could hardly be in two places at the same time - it was possible but not expedient and why would she, really - and it fell to Pansy to fill in when the older witch was otherwise occupied. Her heels had never needed so many charms cast upon them to make them more comfortable to wear but it was worth it.

Pansy could hardly complain about it, not when she was enjoying herself immensely. Other than wish she had shorter hours so she could spend more time with Daniel, she would change nothing on her current duties, that were as heavy and demanding as they were rewarding to her. Seeing the shape their world was taking, that the Ministry was taking, was terribly satisfying and - for the first time since the Battle of Hogwarts - Pansy was seeing hope for the vision that most purebloods shared for what they wanted for their lives and their families. Her personal life, too, was taking up a nice shape - her brother's strange moods and his nosedive into depression aside. Wedding preparations occupied all the time that wasn't taken up by work but, thankfully, she and Daniel did it together as not to need to curtail their alone time. Mother was also terribly engaged in helping, likely because Pansy's first marriage had been a rushed thing, far away from Britain, and her second engagement had been a source of much pain to Violet Parkinson. Daniel, though, was second only to Fernando in her mother's affections and Pansy had more than once sharply told her to remember it was Pansy who would be wed, not her. Father, true to his form, said nothing and did nothing but to remind her to introduce Daniel to Mama Juana's painting sooner rather than later.

It was where her thoughts went after finishing relaying the instructions for the afternoon to the tea girl and setting herself to her next task. There were plenty of things to be done concerning certain changes but the Department of Magical Law Enforcement was not one she or the Minister worried overly much. The forces were in good hands, the divisions ran smoothly enough and only trusted people found themselves at the head. All in all, there was very little that she needed to do today in here and all of it was - to the everlasting distaste of almost everybody but to Pansy's delight - related to the quarterly budget that was set for each department and division. Approved and signed off by the Minister, it was now time to collect the prospect spendings of each place and put the more...ostentatious purchases and directing of funds under scrutiny. Not the most glamorous job in the world - and indeed, not even part of her scope - but something Pansy enjoyed nonetheless. "Lady Kvothe, may I have a minute?" the witch in question hadn't been her first on the list, not truly, but when opportunity presents itself...

Going from an Acciai to a Kvothe had been one of the easiest things in the world. She had worn a nice dress, Raymond had looked nice too. Her brothers had been there. Her mother had not been well enough to travel and had said that there were things that needed her attention back in Italy. She would lie if she said that she was offended, but she wasn’t. She had been happy about the situation and after a short Honeymoon she had returned to work as if nothing had changed. It was mainly because it hadn’t really. She had her own home still, she had her own money and she had her own life. The only difference was her name and that he came and spent the night. It was very unorthodox, but he never seemed to want to be around her, so she had a feeling that this was probably as good as it was going to get. She would never have love from her husband, and her feelings were her own business. It was, what it was.

He was a little insane, okay more than a little insane. He was her husband though and she would go to the ends of the earth to protect the family that was now hers. Tucking some of the dark hair behind her ear Ornella continued to look at the papers on her desk and smiled softly as she looked over the report. Adding her signature at the bottom she sprinkled some setting dust over it and then placed it in the file and then into her out box. Work here was easy, she was able to whip her tiny sub department into shape easily, and it left her with plenty of time to work on her potions.

It was her main way of funds, and her main way of entertaining herself. Of course, looking for a wife for her younger brother made things much more interesting, but it was what it was, after all. She was adjusting to life in England finally, and she knew that this was to be her home as long as her husband continued to live. She was settling her manners into the current styles and finding her footing. She was a lady after all and it was only suiting that she adjusted herself. She was going to call for a tray of coffee when someone spoke through her open office door.

”Ah, Lady Parkinson. What can I do for you?”
