@alayla
Giselle was so overwhelmed but she knew that soon enough her baby boy would settle into some kind of routine. She couldn’t believe that he was was nearly a month old. In few days time he would reach that milestone and she couldn’t imagine life without Dillon. He really was a godsend. When her life seemed to be going down the drain he had come along and turned it around. Seeing that Alistair had gotten married had come as quite a shock to her but she had heard it had been short-lived but still she couldn’t help but think that should have been her. They had been engaged when he had left during her first trimester when she had doubted his commitment to her and their baby. Giselle had wanted to share every moment of her pregnancy with Alistair and she understood the importance of him being there for his mother but all she was asking that she get a little of his time. After she had been carrying his child but there had been no letters and he had not contacted her on her birthday in August or at Christmas.

She knew then that she was likely not getting him back and it broke her heart. Right now she was unsure what she would be telling Dillon when he was older in regards to his dad. Could she say he was a good man? Right now she couldn’t say that but maybe in a few years when her heart repaired itself maybe she could. For now, her number one priority was her son and he would continue to be. She couldn’t even think about being with someone else. Her son was the only person she wanted to be with right now.

Being on maternity leave meant she was away from her job a lot and she missed it. At times when Dillon was asleep, she looked to be doing something. At least if she was sketching some outfits, it would be quiet and unlikely to wake her son. Rafferty was busy too with his work and was out for most of the day and then he would go out with his friends for an evening. She couldn’t blame him. They were still young but she didn’t think that Dillon had ruined her chances of going out. She knew she would get to go out soon enough when he was older but not right now.

Alayla had owled her earlier in the day to go through designs she was working on and she was looking forward to the company of the younger witch. She too was pregnant and Giselle would go back to work when she went on leave. She was happy that Alayla had her husband with her, if not she even envied her. Giselle considered the other blonde witch to be very lucky and she was looking forward to seeing how the designs were coming along and how the shop was going. She wondered how busy she was with Easter coming up.

She had just changed Dillon’s nappy when she heard a knock on the door. Cradling her son in her arms she made her way to the door and pulled it open. ”Alayla...come in” she grinned as she moved aside for her to enter the flat.

With Giselle being on maternity leave, Alayla had taken up a lot of hours, she’d done her best to prove her worthy of being the older witches apprentice and had stepped up to take over her work load when she’d left so she could focus only on her son. Admittedly, it had been a little stressful for Alayla at first but she quickly managed to figure everything out and come up with a system that worked. She knew there was no chance of completing all of Giselle’s work but she was trying her best to do as much as she could and on top of that she was trying to avoid owling her too much about work, she wanted Gis to know that she could do it on her own and Alayla didn’t want her to be stressing over how good or bad she was doing when her main focus should be her son. There were a few things that she hadn’t touched, more serious designs, ones that Alayla knew she wasn’t capable of doing yet, luckily most of them had been booked a year in advance so she didn’t have to worry too much about designing things from scratch, just a little bit here and there to try and make it easier for when Giselle came back.

Logan was training today and Adrianna seemed to have finally settled a little so Alayla had time to herself to get some work done, although she was at the point now where she needed Giselle’s input before she could finalise the designs, she had been a little surprised when Giselle said for her to come and visit today but she didn’t mind, it would be nice to see her boss, they had after all started some sort of friendship between them outside of work hours as well as in and Alayla also knew that Dillon was currently the apple of Giselle’s eye and she did want to meet him, even if she was a little nervous. She hoped the situation would be completely different when it came to her own daughter, that she wouldn’t be so scared at seeing her and holding her, Calli had told Alayla that she’d been the same before Jeremy had been born and the younger witch just hoped that it would be the same for her.

Alayla tugged her scarf a little as it was starting to come loose, she found it insane that it was so close to spring yet there was still snow everywhere and the wintry chill didn’t seem ready to leave. She slipped a little on a bit of black ice and she cursed in Finnish, a habit she had seemingly picked up from her husband, and turned onto the pavement leading up to Giselle’s house and she knocked lightly. The witch shivered a little and crossed her arms, she was expecting Giselle to take a little longer, she didn’t know what Dillon’s routine was like but she also knew that babies often spent a lot of time crying and needing constant attention, so unless Dillon was asleep, then she wasn’t expecting Giselle to answer as quickly as she did with her son in her arms and Alayla wore the faintest trace of a smile as she looked at the infant and she glanced back to Giselle before stepping inside the flat. ”Hey Gis, how are you two doing?” She asked, hesitantly moving a tiny bit closer to her so she could see Dillon.

From the moment she had realised that she and Alistair were no longer she had known that now she was the one would only be raising her son. Yes, she had family and friends on hand to help but they were not going to be ones who were responsible for his growth and upbringing. She was now mother and father. The latter was definitely not a role she had ever seen herself taking on. She had always had the fairytale idea that she would marry and her husband would be the father of her children. But her reality was nothing like that. It was much harder though Gisellle would never admit that. Being part Veela meant she was stubborn as hell and she was glad that she had had a boy because the Veela gene was more dominant in girls. She was happy to be a mother to a boy, she would have been happy no matter if she had a boy or a girl. As cliche as that sounded, it was the truth and she was happy that everything had gone well with her pregnancy and with the labour.

She had been so glad to have had her mother here to help her. She had just gone back a few days ago and so far Giselle was managing well on her own. But the witch knew that her mother would come over anytime she owled her. Her mother had left her some instructions on how do things like the best way to wash Dillion’s clothes for Giselle. While it would have been straightforward to do it by muggle methods but being a magical and a new mum she was very much paranoid about making sure she used no spells or detergents that could irritate her son’s skin. Gisele didn’t want to be the kind of mother that got panicked at every little thing around her but she knew that it was also natural for her to be like that.

Her apprentice had contacted her about coming over to have her look over some designs and Giselle didn’t Mind it at all. She was not starved for adult company exaclfty given that she lived with her twin but was looking forward to seeing Alayla again. The younger witch had not come to see her in St Mungo’s which was fine so this was going to be the first time she would be meeting Dillion and she wanted to see how her son took to new people. She also was looking forward to see how the younger witch was getting on with her own pregnancy. Gisele was happy to answer any question that Alayla may have, as well.

She was not quiet practiced with Dillion’s routine yet. Her son was only a month old and he definitely had no idea what a routine even was. She wasn’t sure exactly when Alayla was coming over but she happy that she had arrived after the nappy change. Seeing a baby’s nappy changed would not be a welcome sight for her when meeting the baby for the first time. ”We are doing well thank you. Look at you, how are you feeling, how’s the baby?” She asked as she looked over the younger witch before she took her seat on the sofa with Dillion in her arms staring up at her. ”Please sit Alayla..” she said using her had to gesture to the armchair.
