[attr="class","gummies"] She had gone on the date, and then she had gone on another... And, well, Winnie was very confused about the whole situation. Because she was dating someone after having not dated for years and years and years, and it was all because of Cass. Cass, who hadn't put her name in out of the kindness of her heart. No, Cass had done it because she thought that she was funny, and Winnie had gone along with it because she was a good sport. Winona thought that was a very important mark of being a person-- she was a good sport, so she had gone along. She had dressed up for her date with a wrockstar, and she had... Well, she had enjoyed herself. She had had loads of fun. He was cute and funny and awkward just when it was important. And she had gotten a chance to meet his friends, too, which was super interesting. They were famous, and not just famous, but famous famous. She was learning how to cope with all of it, because hanging out with Tib meant seeing paparazzi and meeting a whole bunch of people that she wasn't accustomed too. It wasn't hard to deal with, of course. She was strong. She was sensible. And she wasn't about to just freak out because someone made more money and had more friends than her.

Nope, but she was definitely jealous that she wasn't ever going to be able to win karaoke if they went. Because she killed karaoke, really, when it was just her and Cass and Audrey, and Tib could actually sing. Winona didn't have a good voice, not by any means, so she was screwed. Not that she was complaining. She genuinely loved listening to him speak. And she was distracted. She shot a look at Cass, sticking out her tongue. Technically, it was Cass's fault. She had asked, again, how the date was-- though this time she had meant the second one, not the first. The second date... And there was going to be another. Two dates... And distracted again. Since she was a normally focused person, she wasn't too fond of this whole distraction thing. But that was fine. This was a good thing.

She didn't know why they had picked Pigment of the Imagination to be their 'freedom destination' for the day. They only had a few hours before they were going back to Domun, and she had wanted to feel vaguely more educated. And she wanted a breath, too, and they didn't really have many connections over here. Plus, they could find out if they would take a younger artists paintings or if they would do a fundraiser for Domun. Winnie had already spoken to someone and left her name so that someone would owl her back in the future. Now they were just looking at the gallery, looking at all the paintings. "Is this edgy? Or just weird," she said, trying to distract her friend from the question at hand. Because, really, she felt like keeping all details of the date to herself. Of course she would share. She just liked thinking that there was a part that was just hers, just the magic... Okay, that was ridiculous.

Win a date with a rock star. It had sounded ridiculous. No, it was wrock, not rock, she corrected herself quickly. She'd been curious, and half-bitter, wondering how random it was going to be. According to the gossip magazine from. . .July or something that Kavindra thought she hid well, the man had just had a divorce, and the former wife was being seen around town by an older woman. Actually she might be mixing up a few of the issues, but the point still stood. Now, really, Cass had her suspicions about that particular bit, but live and let live, right? Honestly, having a richer, more mature person look after you and all you had to do was a few nights? That sounded pretty fun, really.

Except she was also a teen mother in both senses of the word-- but not for long! soon it would only be one!, and nonmagical to boot, so she rather doubted that she'd have that as an opportunity.

Not to mention, look how far that had gotten Heather. Left it to Cass and Medea to clean up her messes. Besides, after Sand, she really wouldn't want to be controlled. She'd been reckless before, and that had gotten her Lysia. She'd had to settle down after that. because her priorities had had to shift. Don't take unnecessary risks, because that would leave Lysia with. . . Medea, she supposed, or her grandparents, but with the fact that they'd attempted to bestow her cousin Sunshine with thirty-three middle names, she really doubted their sanity. Cousin Mist, maybe, until things settled down.

But that was before Domum, and she had it settled that's where Lysia would go if something happened to her. Lower the difficulties, see that Cloud and Eclipse didn't traumatize her kid. Before Domum, before she'd met Winnie and Willa and Ronit the hoard of mentors, including Charlotte who gave her therapy for free. And they had freer lives, usually, could take risks, and when she'd gotten the chance to try a joke. . .she'd succeeded? Far beyond what she thought. At least it made the kids stop talking about her and Willa because suddenly Winnie was with a celebrity. Which was more, thank god. And she might have accidentally leaked that to make sure that they stopped talking about her and Willa, but Kavindra would have found out.

Though it did mean that several kids had started asking Winnie if the band could come and visit or whatever, and Cass did blame herself for that. She didn't spill the details, though! Wouldn't, she'd sworn. Their freedom trip came as a relief, because she really didn't have much else to do other than gossip. And she wanted Winnie to be happy, really, she did. Winona might be three-some years Cass's elder, but she felt protective of the other girl, like she was a younger sister. She was shorter than both Medea and Jason, so the four inches she had over Cass's head didn't count, right?

"I don't know," she responded at last, tilting her head. Win had really brought the wrong woman out for this. Wrong mentor-- Elizaveta would really be better at this. Wrong sister-- Medea would definitely be better at this. And both of them would be able to identify it, giving it. . .things and stuff and names and styles. Cass squinted, trying to figure out what the shapes were supposed to be. "It's very. . .uhm, experimental." It was very possible that it was. . .magic eyes only or something. Or depended where you stood, some mathy thing like that. She could almost see a bloody horsehead if she stood on her tip-toes.

"Being close with an artist give you any tips in identifying this type of art?"

[attr="class","nuggetwords"]She was never the biggest fan of art galleries unless she was high. Then, they were fun— she barely knew what was going on, and she could laugh at the vulgar looking paintings and sculptures. But, no, it was a work day. And since it was a work day, she wasn’t high, not yet. She couldn’t do that when she was watching the kids. After, when she was laying outside, trying to decide what to do. That was how she usually ended up, anyway. Winona wished that she had smoked during their break, of course. There was time. She could ride a high and then be calm by the end of her break, right? But it was too late. Besides, Willa would be furious. So she didn’t, she just smiled, she stared blankly at the art on the wall… She knew what Cass was probably thinking, too. Neither of them knew anything about art. That was Elizaveta, really. Not them.

Winona wanted it pointed out that she was making an effort. She was trying her hardest to know what was going on in the art gallery. And she was trying to grow as a person, right? Or was she being self-serving? Nah, she was just bored, and this was cheap, cheap enough that she and Cass could afford it. It was rare to come across a place like that. She really couldn’t name anything else— except for the movies, some days, but she really didn’t have the attention span for that. A cheap place for the two of them to be entertained, that was more than enough for her. She tilted her head as she stared at the painting in front of them. “Is it avant garde?” she asked, letting out a light laugh. It was a stupid question, wasn’t it? She probably didn’t need to ask anything. Since neither of them knew what was going on, art wise, it wasn’t like it was a question that she needed to pose.

“With Elizaveta?” she asked, purposefully misunderstanding. She knew that Cass found it amusing, the date. And it had been. Amusing and fun and interesting all at once. And there had been more than one date, now. But Tib was a wrockstar, not a painter. So he wouldn’t know, right? She didn’t know all of his hobbies, to be fair. She didn’t know everything about him. “Damn. And here I thought we were creative, Cass. None of this even makes sense. It’s all...”

"Maybe," Cass frowned in response, trying to study the blots. Or-- she squinted-- were they stripes? Were they changing? This was ridiculous. Art should have a . . final, fixed thing. Or maybe she was so bad at art that she genuinely couldn't tell but blots and stripes were supposed to look very different. Stripes of blots maybe, but that was only like a jail, and there was still the possible horse head to think of, and this was all far too artistic for her.

Give her an artistic book, something noir, or something of that type, and she could understand that. This, this no. She didn't even want to consider looking at anything else by this painter. Maybe others would be better? God, she hoped, but the nonexistent entity hadn't been so kind to her, so. . .

"Sure, sure, Elizaveta. I'm sure she'd be happy to learn she's dating you, though I swear, you two would look far too alike to do that. All that blonde, wavy hair," she waved her hands vaguely at her friend's face. She leaned back, shoving her hands in her pockets to see if she could see something different from this angle, like one of those paintings or sculptures that changed with the angle. All it did was give her larger headache.

"Duke's a singer, right? That's definitely some type, and for the music to be popular, it should have some type of art to it, unless they make all their money off their looks and names." She gave a shrug. Kavindra, who was supposedly the expert, had said half the band were rich pureblood types, and it wouldn't be surprising that's how they made all their things, but she'd met the girl once at the music festival, and she'd seemed pretty down to earth. And there was Bright, who Kavindra was definitely crushing on. "Probably not though, I'd hope. Nepotism's a bitch."

Cass closed her eyes, trying to draw up the image. Maybe it was that type of thing? "You know what though? You're supposed to be drunk or high to make some sense of this, I'm sure." True, she wasn't much into either, couldn't be, but it would make sense for this damn thing.

[attr="class","nuggetwords"]The issue with art was that it was subjective. The issue with magical art was that it sometimes moved. So she didn't know what was happening, and that wasn't out of the ordinary, but this time the confusion was mobile, ever-twisting in a concerning manner. It was actually more than a bit annoying to Winona, but she knew that she couldn't complain much. She didn't have much grounds to. She was the one who had dragged Cass with her, and she had wanted to pretend like they were fancier than they were. What was the point in that? She felt horrid, trying to pretend. Of course she had tried to get something out of it for Domun, but she still felt guilty. But, hey, they were there. They had no idea what they were looking at, and it was swirling around at them. Winona was of the mind that it was garbage. It didn't seem very deep to her. It just seemed like someone splashed a bit of color here and there and hoped for the best.

She let out a laugh as Cass played along with her misdirection, pulling on a lock of her wavy hair. "Eliza and I would make a lovely picture," she insisted. Sure, they both were blond, but think of their kids! If someone could mix their gene pool together there would be kids with the most beautiful blonde hair running around. She loved it. Of course, she really wasn't Elizaveta's type. She wasn't a brunette and she wasn't filled with anxiety and coffee. So it wouldn't have worked out, anyway.

Besides, she had Tib. Who, as Cass had pointed out, was an artist. Maybe he was half of the reason that she had wanted to look at art. That would be upsetting; she usually didn't do anything for any person. She usually did things because she was vaguely interested in it. But she wasn't interested in art, not too much. "Well, that's unfortunate. Can't be either, since we have to get back to work at some point. Gross. Do people really make money off of this?"
