Amy was relieved that the school year was almost over. It had been a stressful year with her OWL exams. She was glad to have something relaxing to help take the mind off the pressure that she was under. Tonight the fifth year wanted to forget about her exams and just relax and unwind and focus on just enjoying herself. It seemed like the young lady had no time for herself recently, with the studying, and exams, and being busy in all the club that she was in. How she was managing to find time to even get to sleep at night was amazing her. Amy barely had for anything at the moment.

The end of term ball was meant to be a chance for everyone to let their hair down, and the Hufflepuff was sure that it was going to be great. One of the things she was looking forward to the most was having a chance to spend some quality time with her younger brother, Donald. Annoying as he might be, as much as she sometimes wanted to throttle him, she really missed him when they didn’t get the chance to see each other as much as they would both like to. Amy worried about him and felt that she was somehow letting him down as an older sister. That, of course, wasn’t true, but it was how she felt.

The 16-year-old entered the Great Hall, dressed in a pretty light blue dress. She looked beautiful and elegant in her dress. It was particularly dazzling. The Welsh Hufflepuff even surprised herself that he was able to pull off such a dress if she was honest with herself. Despite her outward appearances, the fifth year did lack a bit in self-esteem, especially when it came to her own body image. She did not believe that she was especially pretty and felt that she was a bit fat if she was being truthful. It probably didn’t help that her sibling used to make rude remarks about her weight on occasions. Although he was doing that a lot less so now.

The young witch scanned the room to see who was there before spotting and making her way over towards him. ” Alright?” she asked her sibling with a small smile. This was going to be an enjoyable night. Amy was sure of it.

Blinded By The Light

Revved Up Like A Deuce

Another Runner In The Night

He could feel a ripple in his waters. A great splash in what was his sea of calm. A flood in his river. A-

Ahem. A change. Zephyrus Spalding, fabulous and dramatic, had a crush. Which was, quite frankly, inconvenient. Also, unfair. The girl was about to leave the grand student populous to go out into the world filled with seeing eyes. Like, rude. How dare she leave when he had suddenly been ensnared by her feminine wiles through circumstances unseen to him? This was the greatest injustice. To fell a man as great as he, with qualifications in badass-ery. This was unheard of. Unheard of! Yet, how could he hate her for it? She was just so... marvellous. Liberating. Thrilling. For a guy who was blind in the biggest way, she made dicking with danger far more pleasant than he'd anticipated.

Now, he knew what most of the people around him must be thinking; How often had he actually seen her? Well the obvious answer was... never in his life. But, if rephrased to "how often had he been in her company?" then of course, the answer came to a grand total of... Once. At the last ball. O' fragrant Valentine's Day, where he had had the good fortune of her company for an entire evening, and he had enjoyed himself immensely. She was a very funny witch, with pizazz. With fire! It had taken a good few days for him to realise her effect on him - Hades had threatened to blind his hearing next if he didn't stop serenading his roots in potions - but when he had, he had been speechless. There was a new pep... in his step. And they all knew it. And he didn't care. Not even a little bit. The empty armour adorning the halls had more shame than him.

Feeling pretty swanky in a refined way, he sedately swaggered up to @erebos and @fluffyhades , keeping his ears open for , , @calypso , and @clio . He'd already done a circuit of the hall with Dionysus and Apollo, and much to his bitter disappointment, he had yet to hear the heaven praised sound of @roxanne 's laughter to lead him to where he very much wanted to be. He looked forward to basking in her radiance once again. "Sup my dudes and dudettes, how are my party peeps a-doing on this fine evening?" he greeted in turn, a large grin splitting his face as his hands came out from his sides. He had his falcon on his shoulder so he could forego the stick. Lowering the shades in question and "looking" jauntily over them at Erebos, "Why yes, my good gentleman, they are indeed. Joe's chillin' with Lennon back in the dorm, thought I'd spice things up with Robin Thicke-" he pushed the thing frames glasses back up and shrugged his shoulders. "Anyhoo- anyone spy a tall mocha so far? A sultry senorita of the Weasley variety? Hades- why do you sound strangled?" Oh gods, don't tell him. That Ravenclaw @radella must be close.

In The Dark Of The Night

I Was Tossing And Turning

And The Nightmare I Had

Was As Bad As Can Be

At least this time they weren't being forced to bring along a date, already assigned to them, against their will, doomed for the entire night in the company of someone he was frankly too terrified to speak to. Especially last time as it had been Erebos' ex Mandy. Scary Mandy. Most girls terrified Hades, but Mandy was so intimidating that he had wanted to leap into the nearest portrait and become a painting. That would be his ideal future. Leaping into a painted canvas so he no longer had to interact with anyone, and if anyone tried to speak to him, he could step out of his frame into an entirely separate part of the castle.

He had had a point. What was the point? Oh yes. Dates. Girls. Scary shit, dude. He shivered, looking around himself and Erebos, then took a hearty swig of the punch that had been provided... just like at any other function the castle threw. Ah yes, ice cold pumpkin punch, his favourite. Not. The smell should have been enough to deter him. He looked around them again, his mood turning even worse. This felt like a joke. A dress code of black and white made this feel like a massive funeral, for the happiness that had died here, right in this room. And he, Hades, Lord of the Dead was here and hating every moment of it. If it weren't for the fact that people around him were smiling and laughing, and he'd yet to hear any gross sobbing, he'd have said it was the death of their educational careers too. Time to go home. The Headmistress hated them.

It wasn't like the rest of the school was dripping in colour either, outside of the common rooms and dorms. Everything was sandstone. But the classrooms had the added separate factor of mahogany. Maybe a few skeletons. And now they were here at an end of term party, supposedly celebrating the Seventh Years surviving their NEWTs against all logic since stress was apparently the biggest killer in the UK right now, but they were dressed in mourning. So then he began looking for someone who had broken the designated dress code for the evening. Anyone not in monochrome would potentially be worth staying for away from just on coincidence's sake. Last time someone broke a dress code, someone lost a tongue and two fingers, at least. Possibly more. Honestly, Hades had been avoiding the Headmaster like he had dragon pox so he didn't see anything past the first spurt of blood.

Oh great. Now he was nauseous as well as uncomfortable. Distracted, finally, as Zeph appeared in all his glory, Hades tuned out of his quest for one Roxanne Weasley and looked over his shoulder as a familiar head of hair sauntered past. He caught her eye, lifted the hand holding the glass of punch to her in greeting and said hi.

Then realised after she'd passed that what he'd really done was tip the glass over himself and went "HNNGHH" at her. Oh Radella. How badly did he want to be fecking avada kedavra'd  right about now. "Shove off, Zeph."

[attr="class","tweedles"]Wow okay. Radella huffed an annoyed breath but wisely kept her mouth shut. So the Deputy Headmistress wanted to give her detention. Big deal. It wasn't something Radella set out to do, and generally something she avoided, but once in five years of schooling wouldn't be more than a minor scratch on her records to future employers. Still, it did sting a bit that the DH was so offended by Radella's choice in dress that she thought it necessary to assign detention, but there wasn't anything Radella could say about that without coming off like some kind of petulant child. Even if she was a petulant child. Being one and looking like one were two different things; Radella might be honest enough with herself to know when she's being childish in her thoughts, but she's wise enough not to go acting on those thoughts all the time. Besides, she was easily distracted again when she passed none other than @fluffyhades .

Hades was cute enough, Radella supposed, and she might have even been interested if the poor kid didn't lose all ability to string two words together the second he spotted her, but it was a distraction all the same. How @calypso could be friends with him, she'd never understand, but whatever. If he ever grew the courage and ability to ask her out, Radella wouldn't say no right away. Probably. For all her standards, Radella was willing to give anyone with decent looks and half a brain the chance to win her over. If they didn't hold her interest after a few dates, she broke it off without issue--something that happened far too often. Everybody was just so boring. Except Calypso. At least she had spunk, and a sense of style that suited her. In any case, Radella knew nothing was going to happen on the Hades front any time soon. Not before school let out for the season, at least. Which was fine. Managing a new relationship long-distance wasn't easy, but if he did manage to hold her interest even then? Well, that was more promising than anything else.

Maybe if he could find a way to help Terrel actually do better in his classes, Radella might consider letting up on the whole 'say at least one coherent word to me' thing. If he approached Isolda or Godiva about it, he was even more of an idiot than she thought. Those two meddlesome brats were more likely to sabotage things than help them.
