Character History:

Carwyn was born in Pwllheli in north Wales to Arwyn Parry Owens and Rhiannon Lynda Owens, and his siblings. He had a very nice comfortable childhood on the north Wales cost and spent a lot of his time by the sea enjoying the fresh salt sea air. He had a slightly mischievous streak as a young boy and often got into trouble for doing dangerous stuff, like climbing up rocks or buildings. On many occasions, his parents had to take him for medical treatments for his injuries.

He was very young during the reign of Voldermort but did understand something awful was going on and was very fearful during his childhood. Voldermort was defeated when he was 7 years old and he really enjoyed the celebrations and the sense of liberation even if, again, he did not fully understand exactly what it was about.

When he started Hogwarts he was very excited but was slightly worried when he was sorted into Slytherin, he thought that was the evil house, that house that all those bad men during his childhood came from. Although that was the rumours that he heard during the train ride to the school. However, he soon found that Slytherin wasn’t all bad and that being in Slytherin did not make anyone a bad person any more than any of the other houses. He soon settled into his new house and enjoyed it.

During his time in Hogwarts he found he loved flying and excelled at quidditch. He eventually joined the Slytherin quidditch team and soon harboured ambitions to join the Welsh national quidditch team. To him nothing could be better than representing his national side in quidditch.

Carwyn graduated Hogwarts with good grades and started work in a shop in Diagon Alley. He continued practicing his quidditch and trying to join teams. At 21 he was scouted by the Caerphilly Catapults as the keeper. He was seen as a stand out player of the team and, 3 years later, was recruited by the Welsh national quidditch team to play as keeper there. A position he has held ever since.

However, his dedication to his sport has come at then price that he has not had much of a social life and has very little to no time for romance. However, he is not too disappointed by this as it means that he has achieved his dreams and ambitions

Plots and Politics
What is your character’s stance on the recent takeover of the Ministry by Death Eaters? He is deeply concerned that the death eaters have taken over the Ministry. He is worried that it might be a return back to the bad old days It is reminding him of his childhood and the terror he felt as a youngster. He hopes that the Death Eaters will be defeated soon but does not speak out against them and keeps his opinions to himself out of fear of what would happen if he did.

Where did your character stand in the treatment of Death Eaters and their families under the late Minister Durant's rule? He thinks that it was a good idea and that they maybe should have gone further. The death eaters always posed a major threat, in his opinions, and had committed grave crimes that they should have been punished for. He also feels that their families probably knew what their kin was doing, if not actively involved in it. He thinks it was right to hold them to account and punished. Even if he thinks the punishment didn’t go far enough.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? A young Carwyn was deeply emotionally scarred by Voldermorts reign. While he was too young to fully stand what was happening and his parents did try to protect him as much as possible for the true horrors of Voldermort rule he did feel that something was very, very wrong. The more he learnt about it as he grew up the more horrified he was by what his fellow wizards and witches could do.

His family kept themselves to themselves during Voldermorts reign, going throw the motions and not trying to draw any attention to themselves. They did not want to become victims of the Death Eaters.

Family
Parents: Arwyn Parry Owens (father), Rhiannon Lynda Owens (nee Morris. Mother)
Siblings: Arwel Thomas Owens (brother 29), Bethan Leanne Owens (sister, 25)
Children: None....yet
Partner: Nope, he is an Eligible Bachelor
Other Relevant Family: No-one important
Family History:
The Owens are a family from Pwllheli in north Wales and the Morris family was also Welsh from Ynys Mon in north Wales. Arwyn and Rhiannon met in Hogwarts, both where Hufflepuffs and 2 years apart, Arwyn being the oldest. They became good friends and kept in contact with each other after leaving school. When they were in their 20s they started dating and got married. Having their first child, Arwel, when they were 33 and 31 respectively.

They raised their children well but all the time fearing the raise of the dark lord and what it would mean for their family and their children. Arwyn worked as a healer in St Mungos and hoped that his children would follow in his footsteps, meanwhile Rhiannon worked for the Daily Prophet as a reporter.

They were happy when the dark lord was defeated and felt that the reign of terror of the dark lord was over. They were even more delighted when their children got into Hogwarts, Arwel a Gryffindor, Carwyn a Slytherin and Bethan a Hufflepuff. While they were concerned about what the inter-house rivalry might do to their children ultimately they were proud that they didn’t let that get in the way of their sibling friendships and family.

Arwel excelled at care for magical creatures in school and, after he finished, went onto research exotic, and sometimes dangerous, creatures in some far flung lands. Meanwhile Bethan followed her fathers footsteps in becoming a healer. The parents are proud of the decisions that their children have made and of what they have achieved. Especially Carwyn, the Wales international. That is something they frequently boast about.

The return of the death eaters, however, have Alarmed the Owens. The takeover of the Minister now make them fear that you know who might be returning. Arwyn and Rhiannon moved abroad to be closer to Arwel, and escape the clutches of the evils that might be coming and urged Carwyn and Bethan to go with them. Bethan agreed to, however Carwyn refused stating his patriotism for Wales, his duty was a Welsh international to his team and saying that he owed it to his fans to be there and entertain them in the time of darkness.

Other: Carwyn loves his country but that doesn’t make him a nationalist or racist. He is not anti-English, although like all Welsh people and Welsh sports stars he has a healthy rivalry with the English and does indulge with banter with the English. He has ambitions to captain the Wales team someday.
