Marcus enjoyed the company of Blair. While it came with the territory of his work, most of the customers he dealt with he hated. Of course, taking their money was nice. The man would never turn down a sale. That would sink the business. But Blair was different. The woman was pleasant, at least to him, and the pair seemed to think alike. He knew she was a known Death Eater, but that didn’t bother him. If anything, he admired her more for it. “Well I am glad you are pleased,” he said.

Knowing the work camp would frown on a knife set entering he had figured Blair would need to come back for them. In truth, it gave him more time to wrap them in the standard brown paper. “Of course,” Marcus said with a nod. He wouldn’t have expected anything different. “I will have them ready for you tonight.

Heading to the front of the store, he made the notes he needed and offered the witch a thoughtful look. “You wouldn’t want to join me for dinner one night this week, would you?” he asked. Marcus normally wasn’t as forward, but the witch was one of his best customers and she always seemed to linger longer than was necessary when she came. In his mind, it was worth a shot.

Blair knew that there were things in this shop that could kill her, and she liked that. She liked that there was an element of danger in here, and she didn’t know where it came from. At least that’s why she told herself that she came into the shop, the mystery and the sense of danger that the place held. In truth she thought it just might have something to do with a pair of steely grey eyes that were looking down at her, but she didn’t think that she would ever dare admit that to anyone. Not even herself. She smiled at him and nodded, “I am. Thank you.”

She followed him to the front of the store as he said that he would have them ready for her this evening. Blair stood across the counter from him, and watched him as he made a note and then looked up at her. She let another smile creep onto her face, “Like a date?” She asked with a raised eyebrow. Blair was inclined to say yes, simply on the fact that Marcus Flint was a decent guy. At least in her opinion, and Blair didn’t date casually anymore. She didn’t have the time or the patience. She was only going to go out with someone that she might see hanging around, and she had to admit that Marcus would be a good someone to have around. She found herself nodding, “If I say yes now I expect you to give me the details of said date when I come back tonight.”

It had been a long time since Marcus had asked anyone out. He wasn’t the type to want a casual fling, but it seemed that was all most people wanted anymore. Blair seemed different, thankfully. And the worst case scenario was that their first date was their last, but something deep down told him that wouldn’t be the case.

Yes, like a date,” Marcus said slowly, fearful of her reaction. He had thought that was implied, but perhaps he caught the witch off guard. It wasn’t as though he often asked out his customers. “Blair, I can assure you, if you say yes now I will happily let you know the plan when you come back for the knives,” he said with a small smile. He normally didn’t show emotions in the shop. In many ways that would ruin his business as most of the people who came refused to admit emotions existed. They were viewed as a weakness, when in fact, emotions could be some of the most powerful things about a person.

Blair was pleasantly surprised at the fact that Marcus had just asked her out. She didn’t do casual anymore, but she supposed that Marcus probably didn’t either. They seemed alike in that regard. That it wasn’t worth wasting the time on the casual flings and a string of one night stands that would just get them no where. No, Blair looked up at him and smiled, she would be going on this date.

“Well, then I suppose yes it is.” It was nice to see him smile. It wasn’t something that she thought she had ever seen genuinely from him before, and he had a nice smile. “I suppose now I have something to look forward too today. Merlin knows I’m going to need it. If I have to bite my tongue one more time in front of that Meyers witch…” She trailed off and shook her head, that was no way to talk in front of the man that had just asked her out on a date. Returning his smile she handed him the money for the knives and bit her lip softly. “I’ll be back tonight. And I expect details.” She laughed lightly as she left the shop, shooting him one last smile over her shoulder as she did so.

It had been a while since Marcus had felt the desire to ask anyone out. He didn’t date casually. He was far too old for that nonsense and needed an heir, though he wouldn’t be seeking that from Blair right away. No, he wanted more than just a witch to procreate with him. He wanted a family. For the flaws of his parents the man was at least raised in a stable home with loving parents. Whenever he did have a child, he wanted the same thing for them; wanted a family to pass on the knowledge of the old ways.

I look forward to it,” he said with a smile. Already he was planning for Saturday, but it would depend on her schedule. Marcus knew that dinner was the typical standard, and he was planning on offering her the sort, but there would be more than just that. If he pegged the woman right she wasn’t looking for a fling or a casual affair. She would want someone who could be domesticate, who would make a good partner and parent. So he would fix her dinner and offer to take her somewhere to dance, though he hated the club scene.

I will see you tonight,” Marcus said with a big grin. He was excited and that was something he hadn’t felt in years.
