Cecilia did try to tell herself that Trey knew what he was doing. He was on the Quidditch team, and was the damn captain, so perhaps she was being a little ridiculous in being this anxious when he had to know how to fly—bloody obviously. He would know that an older broom took longer to pull out of dives, and he probably did know a hell of a lot more about brooms than she did even with having to hear about it often. But that wasn’t really the main problem, she knew; it wasn’t that she didn’t think he knew how to fly, it was that she didn’t think that he cared all that much if she fell. He probably thought that she had some kind of natural instinct to not lose her balance and fall, but she was sure that any instincts that she did had were hibernating or something because absolutely nothing was coming to mind as they presumably got incredibly close to the ground. At least she’d be falling from a shorter distance, she told herself, though crashing into the ground at this speed might be just as bad, maybe. She’d had her fair share of straight up falls from varying heights over the years but she’d never crashed into the ground from a dive because she’d never done a dive before. Although flying was something that her stepbrother made her do over the summer months, he couldn’t exactly make her pull ridiculous stunts which meant that this was definitely a first.

She tried to keep in mind that he knew what he was doing as they approached the ground, but it felt like her brain was short-circuiting or something as thoughts simply weren’t coming across the same way as they were before. Perhaps it was the whole breathing thing. That was something important that she should be doing, after all, she reminded herself. Vaguely, she did realize that Trey was speaking though the words felt quite far away and Cecilia didn’t quite catch them immediately. She could hear her heart pounding in her ears and she knew that she needed to breath and figure out what he had just said as opposed to just sitting there. If anything, the wind felt even stronger than before, so perhaps he hadn’t spoken at all and it had just been her mind thinking he had since they were moving so quickly.

Finally, she did note that he was pulling them upward to level out the broom and she was momentarily startled enough to return her hands to the broom handle to keep her balance. She finally let in a breath, calming down ever so slightly. Not calming down to any kind of normal level for someone on a broom, but to the less-panicked yet still panicked version of herself that she’d been before the dive. Cecilia supposed that she might actually feel better if she opened her eyes, since presumably they were quite close to the ground now, but she kept them shut. She would feel better when they were back on the ground, as even a lower height wouldn’t help her all that much. Later, she was going to be bloody embarrassed by this all, she knew, mad that Trey had even seen her like this. There were very few things that she was actually afraid of and that would garner this kind of reaction out of her… and the fact that Trey had gotten to witness it firsthand was just too aggravating to think about and it wasn’t even over yet. Though she supposed she could hope that it almost was. After all, he had dove instead of pulling some reckless stunts higher in the air, so perhaps he was getting bored of this finally.

It was not comforting that the girl hadn’t immediately reacted to his words to take hold of the broom, especially since he had already let go of her to bring them out of their nose dive and he was a little worried that she may actually fall off. He didn’t really need her assistance to be able to right them but he knew she had seemed very uncoordinated when it came to staying on a broom. He had hunched forward slight, pulling his arms in tightly to create a sort of makeshift cage to keep her contained when she finally did as he told and took hold of the broom handle again. Maybe he shouldn’t do something like this again if she wasn’t even going to listen to a bloody word he said, not that he thought she might be saddened to know he might not take her on a broom again.

”You can open your eyes now.” He said as he started to slow the broom down as they were only a few feet from the ground. It felt like he had sufficiently freaked her out, and got her to stop asking questions about how he knew all the things he did. He had wanted to have some fun with her before dropping that bombshell. It seemed like he had definitely accomplished that. He wondered if he should give her a moment to calm down before jumping into the main reason he had gone looking for her. This was bound to be even more amusing than the broom ride had been.

He let the broom slowly ease down a bit more before letting his feet hit the ground, being sure to keep a good hold on the broom incase the girl found some way to slide off of it. It wasn’t like she would be seriously injured by it, but he’d prefer she be upright and aware of her surroundings before handing off the letter to her. ” Have fun?” He asked as he waited for her to dismount first.

They’d been flying for ages, or at least long enough for Trey to gain whatever amusement he wanted, and in her mind that meant that they had to be almost done. It still felt like she couldn’t breath as he righted the broom, but she knew that she was, luckily. She’d remembered that was bloody necessary, after all, and it was easier to do so when they weren’t shooting downward at whatever speed that had been. Now she was back to being thankful that she’d chosen an older model because that had been fast enough for her. He hadn’t crashed though, she noted that. So she supposed he did know what he was doing and wasn’t trying to outright kill her. It even seemed like she might be getting off of this broom in one piece in a relatively short amount of time. She could hope, at least, though for all she knew, Trey was just planning to shoot them back up into the air again before diving again and doing who knew what else. But she was going to attempt to keep positive for a moment, because it was calming her down ever so slightly, even if she could still hear her heart beating a million times a minute. The fact that she hadn’t fallen was something that she hadn’t been expecting, as she’d never really had all that much luck as far as flying for other people’s amusement in the past. Normally, it did end with her falling or with some manner of flying-related injury. So, this might end up just increasing her fear of flying while simultaneously making her dislike Trey further for subjecting her to it, which weren’t bad results, considering.

She contemplated outright ignoring him telling her to open her eyes, but she knew that she would have to anyway. Besides, with how fast they had been moving and for how long, Cecilia could bet that they were pretty damn close to the ground by now and the fact that it was a hell of a lot easier to breath proved that as well. Cecilia opened her eyes, warily, glancing down to see that they were indeed near the field once again. Thank bloody Merlin, she thought, hoping that he was seriously done and not just messing with her. She wasn’t going to get her hopes up until she was actually back with her feet on the ground, if she was capable of moving, or standing… as she wasn’t entirely sure her legs still worked.

Cecilia let out a sigh of relief as Trey’s feet his the ground, stabilizing the broom. Now she just needed to get the hell off of it and also not just collapse onto the ground which seemed likely as the moment that her own feet touched the ground, they already felt shaky. “Oh, yes, that was a bloody treat,” she said, sarcastically, knowing that she couldn’t have managed any kind of acceptable girlfriend response to that if she tried. There was no one around close enough to hear them anyhow. Moving her leg over the broom, Cecilia brought both feet back to the ground before dismounting the broom though briefly holding onto the handle for balance. “I’m assuming you got a sufficient amount of amusement out of that.” Cecilia added, hoping that he would just leave now that he had gotten to antagonize her. She was more than ready for this birthday to be over.

Of course she was going to start being mouthy the moment they got back on the ground. He was actually glad she was doing it for once as now he remembered why this was a ploy and not him actually dating the bint. She obviously had no self-discipline or any control of herself in the slightest. She was loud and disrespectful and hot… He shook his head as that didn’t bloody matter in the slightest… at least it shouldn’t matter really. He had stopped himself from helping her off the broom as he had caught himself moving to take hold of her arm so she didn’t fall flat on her face.

His eyes narrowed at her as she continued to speak, feeling the aggravation come back. He didn’t ccare if someone was around or not. If they were in a public area he expected her to hold up to her end of the deal. It was aggravating to have to keep reminding her to keep watch on her mouth. ”Every time I have to remind you about that mouth of yours, the more I think I would get more enjoyment out of just telling everyone what little secrets you keep hidden away.” He said with a shrug as if it were no big deal. He dismounted the broom casually walking over to the broom shed to deposit it back in.

He guessed her mouth would be shut soon enough once he gave her the letter. A slow smirk came over his face at the thought. Yes, this was the main event and he was sure it would be far more entertaining than torturing her up in the sky. He approached her again with a smirk still in place as he reached into his pocket to pull out the envelope he had received the day before from her father. ”Happy birthday, sweetheart.” He said handing it over to her before folding his arms over his chest and expectantly waiting for her to open and read it. Trey knew if he just walked off she may just toss it in a rubbish bin. He wanted her to read it and see the look on her face more than anything. Maybe she would take this more seriously after seeing what was in the letter.

Merlin, she was bloody glad to be back on the ground. She hadn’t collapsed onto the grass when getting off of the broom too, which was a plus. Originally, she’d been slightly concerned that her legs were going to be absolutely useless because they had been shaking so hard and she’d been pressing them so tightly together on the broom that she’d felt like she’d just been working out or something ridiculous. But she was off of the broom, and she was still standing. Now, Trey just needed to piss off so that she could go back to not celebrating her birthday in peace. There were only a few days left of the school year, so it was about time that he got bored of her anyhow. Maybe he just wanted to get some amusement from her fear before finally breaking up with her. That would actually be a decent birthday present. The best one that she’d get in years if that were the case, but when he spoke again she had a feeling that wasn’t what was happening at all. If he was still correcting her for watching her mouth then she highly doubted that he was done with this. Perhaps he was just waiting until the train, she mused, or the end of term feast. Maybe he had something else big planned, which was a rather ominous thought to even consider. “There’s no one even…” she began, before cutting herself short. Apparently it didn’t bloody matter if anyone around; he was making that abundantly clear. “Sorry,” she muttered, before watching as he headed over to put the broom away. If she was thinking on the bright side, she really was relieved he hadn’t brought down his own broom, or she probably would have fallen off for certain.

She noticed a smirk forming on his lips as he headed back over to her and she felt like he was already up to something. Maybe he was about to break up with her, but he was pulling something out of his pocket and she very much doubted that it was a break-up letter. Cecilia glanced up at him with a confused expression before looking back at the letter and finally examining it. Paling slightly, she immediately recognized the handwriting on the envelope. Hopefully, he was just going to leave now, feeling smug about his ridiculous… whatever the hell was going on with her father, and then she could tear the letter up and sort through… whatever the hell was going on with her father. But he was still standing there with an expectant expression on his face. Somehow she very much doubted that he was going to leave until she read whatever the contents of this letter held.

Rolling her eyes, she looked back down at the envelope, ripping it open with a scowl before letting it fall to the grass below them. Well it explained how Trey knew who her father was, she thought, unfolding the ridiculous letter… he bloody knew him. Pretty damn well, Cecilia would imagine, because he wouldn’t give a letter to just anyone or tell just anyone about her… unless he did, she supposed she had no idea. She scanned the contents of the letter, though it was far from his usual. This time he made it perfectly clear that he knew far more about her than she could have guessed and this entire situation was just bloody disconcerting. He knew about her and Roman, about them breaking up, it sounded like he had orchestrated Trey even coming up with the idea of anything involving the pair of them… The implication that he’d be seeing her soon was there, as always, and he certainly hadn’t wished her happy birthday, which was almost amusing, in her mind. Slowly, she let her eyes move back up to Trey’s, wondering if she could get away with landing a punch on him right now. He was probably expecting it, she told herself, holding herself back from acting on that very tempting idea. “This isn’t even about Roman anymore, is it?” she asked, torn between crumbling the letter up or not. For all she knew, he was supposed to stand there until she bloody replied and set back her first response to her father but she bloody hoped not.

Of course her apology was nothing but bullshit, they all were up to this point. Thankfully she had stopped herself in the middle of an excuse so he didn’t have to waste his time listening to it. Being back on the ground was definitely in his fever. He wasn’t sure what had exactly come over him when they were up in the air but it had completely dissipated now. He needed a break away from her because apparently his mind was being ridiculous and trying to be ‘nice’ to her to an extent. This was just all confusing and he wasn’t about analyze it and make himself go batty over trying to figure out why he would reassure her of anything.

Thankfully he had the letter to give her still and that was sure to set the tone for the rest of this ordeal. He had known she would probably destroy the letter if he had just walked off which became more apparent h=by the way she looked at him when he stood there waiting for her to open it. He watched her carefully as she read over the paper, his grin widening as he saw her expression change. Oh this was definitely a good one. ”Something wrong?” He asked in amusement. He was sure she probably wanted to hex or hit him. He was prepared for either or at this point.

He had known her father since before he could remember really. He admired the man, even if he did have an insufferable disrespectful girl as a daughter. Really he wouldn’t be surprised if Gregory had planted the seed in his head over Easter holidays about ‘dating’ his daughter though he probably would have done it anyway really. He owed the man a lot for all he did for him and his family during their times of need. He chuckled darkly at her question. ”What do you think?” He asked in amusement enjoying her reaction to this all.

Cecilia was still contemplating if she could get away with hitting Trey before he could stop her. She really bloody wanted to, because this shit had been taken to an entirely different level just now. He knew her father—her father, who had been trying to get her to write him back since he had attempted to get in touch with her a few months back. She had successfully avoided all contact, which wasn’t difficult. After all, she was at school and just had to avoid his owls. Hell, she had even stopped reading them. And now she was finding out that he had … whatever the hell Trey was to him bloody looking after her or some shit? Not even looking after her, that implied good intentions. He had his friend or whatever breaking up relationships and making her pretend to date him. Was this some damn ploy to get her to all of a sudden change her mind in not wanting to talk to her father? She really didn’t bloody know what to expect. Cecilia shot Trey a glare at his question, not bothering to reply to him. He had just gone over that she wasn’t supposed to be sarcastic or snarky in public, and she could not come up with an acceptable response at the current time. Absolutely nothing was coming to mind—she was literally at a damn loss.

She really thought that this shit was certainly not about pissing off Roman anymore and she was wondering if that had ever been the main goal. Perhaps this had always been about her father and whatever Trey was getting out of this ridiculous arrangement. Cecilia suddenly just felt like she needed to sit down, but there was nowhere to do that and she just needed to act normal now and collect her thoughts later. Then she could flip the hell out and not know what to do, but until then she didn’t want to give Trey any further reaction from her. “I think this isn’t about Roman anymore,” she said, flatly, irritated that he couldn’t just bloody say it. “How the bloody hell is this shit supposed to benefit you?” Cecilia couldn’t help but ask. It didn’t seem like it was giving him anything other than amusement in aggravating her, so she knew that he had to have some end game in plan. He wasn’t going to bloody tell her, but it was worth a damn ask, apparently.

This had definitely been a successful and amusing afternoon. He had successfully found the girl and scared the shit out of her. Now he was getting to deliver the final blow. If he really thought about it this really had never been about Roman, the concept had merely amused him really. His cousin really was an idiot. It was more of a fun afterthought that his cousin would get hurt in the process. If anything maybe now he could get the idiot to join the cause, or maybe he would finally hate himself enough to just fall off the face of the earth. Either way Trey was coming out on top on this situation. He really wished he would have had a camera available to snap a photo of this moment. Maybe now she would realize just how much power he did have. He was sure his cousin had given the girl warning to stay away from him, but obviously left out the dangerous parts.

He had her exactly where he wanted now, and there was no way out really at least not without doing some serious damage. He hadn’t looked over the letter to see what it said, but he at least knew that now it would confirm just what kind of company he kept and how screwed over she really was at this point. He chuckled at her question shaking his head in amusement. ”That’s for me to know, and for you to find out…” He said with a smirk. There was no way he was going to tell her his exact intentions. He’d rather see her squirm as she tried to figure all of this out. ”Enjoy your birthday.” He added with a wink before sauntering off. Yes, this summer was going to be entertaining.
