general appearance
A mess of tangled blonde waves, a soft face and mouth, stubborn blue eyes and a stubborn chin. Average height, good eyebrows, near-perpetual scowl, a sharp line of jaw under round cheeks.

Not that she knows much, but the jawline’s her mother’s, the blonde hair's her father’s, and the rest a mess of recessive traits neither of them really showed. She doesn’t look much like either of them, and the relative she resembles the most is a second cousin. To her knowledge, that is-- she never really looked at pictures enough to know, never really cared. They're either dead, or were shit, so she doesn't care about most of them. that's mostly even true.

skills
Hands-- first and foremost. Dexterous, steady, smooth, and quick, they're perhaps the one feature Willa likes.
Bluffing-- poker face like a champ.
Holding a grudge, easily. They're not petty grudges, so she counts that at a skill.
Dealing with kids, especially the "troubled" type. She's been one herself, still is.
Forgery, though she prefers art to letters. she's small-scale yet.
Multitasking-- her mouth's talking, her hands taking or building, her eyes on her kids.
Like everyone else at Domum's, she's had to acquire a sixth sense for something about to fall. There's been Times she's thrown herself across a room to hold up a beam or shot a spell to balance a kid.
Teamwork-- sometimes. (it really depends on who it's with).
Summoning spells, fixing things, and she's pretty good with spellotape and duct tape, if she does say so herself.
Spatial Reasoning, because she's pretty good with figuring out how to hold things up, what goes where.
An eye for color and painting-- you can't forge artwork without knowing colors well, after all.
weaknesses
Holding grudges (yes, Willa, this is a weakness, because it can get in the way of your life. if she sees her bio Muggle relatives or bio magical relatives, she's likely not going to acting in the most productive of ways)
Temper-- she tries to hold it around the kids, but she's not the best at it. Some of the foster parents she'd had haven't been dishonest when they said she was difficult.
Trust issues, it's generally hard for her to trust someone who isn't . . .well, someone she trusts.
Making friends
, which kind of goes along with the trust thing. She didn't exactly seek people out, and was a more push-awayer.
Codependent, when she does get to trusting.
, not that she wants to admit it.
Stubbornness, because it's a streak wider than the English Channel.
Domum Agápe, her home and the home of so many others.
Safety-- she needs to be able to find at least six ways to exit, everywhere.
Potions, History of Magic, Herbology.
Cooking and baking, she's a disaster.
positive traits
According to Maria, Willa is: "Caring, Courageous, Focused, Hardworking, Patient, Protective, Responsible, Resourceful, and Self-Reliant".

Willa denies most of them-- says they're only selectively true, and apply only to a few.
negative traits
According to biological relatives, and some not-great former foster parents, Willa is: "Abrasive, Angry, Argumentative, Asocial, Compulsive, CynicalDeceptive, Dishonest, Disrespectful, Disputatious, Disruptive, Hostile, Irreverent, Inconsiderate, Insensitive, Lazy, MannerlessOutspoken, PridefulReactive, Sarcastic, Solitary, Stubborn, and Undisciplined."

There are a good amount of others that she's been called and still reside in her case file, but well. . .who's to say how many of them really apply. Or still do. Half of them are points of pride for her.
hobbies/interests
Pickpocketing and sleight-of-hand are hobbies of hers. They're mostly the biggest things she does. So is painting, though she's never actually taken true lessons. She's still good enough to copy something well, memorize the brushstokes, and mimic well. She helps fix up the house sometimes when she's bored, but that's that's more of a thing she does than a True Hobby. What else is there to say, really?

character history
She's a Battle orphan-- that is to say, she lost one parent in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Timing is difficult, however, and she doesn't know which happened first, her father's death or her mother's. Her mother had been a Muggle-born on the run, Willa growing inside of her. She'd like to say that running and hiding was something she took in from her mother, and it's what she's done since. The days get somewhat confusing, because news took some time to travel, but to Willa's knowledge, this is what happened:

She was born. She probably had a name, though she doesn't know it. Her mother continued bleeding and got fever. In some order that may have been before or after, one parent died and then the other. For the first few days, she traveled with the group her mother was running with, and was fed on a steady diet of formula. After some time, someone found the group she was staying with and told them what had happened-- Voldemort had died, and they were safe. Her caregivers decided the best thing to do would be to find her mother's family and give the infant to them, because surely they'd take it easier than the child's father's family, being a handful of Death Eaters and supporters, after all.

What they hadn't known was that Samara's parents had hated the idea of magic, and spent the first few years of the then-Mary Scarborough's  life trying to make sure she had none of her own. Magic was blamed for taking away and killing Samara, and she was too. She was passed from family member to family member, and once she was around five, had gone through around everyone in her mother's family when someone who claimed to be her father's cousin showed up at the door to collect her. He changed her name, calling her Sophronia Pyrites.

She stayed with him the longest, and she despised him with every fiber of her being. He'd had two older daughters, a son roughly her age, and it was clear she was a nuisance taking up room he didn't particularly care for. She'd never understood why he took her in, and she did her damnedest to cause enough trouble for him to rid himself of her. Eventually, she succeeded, and was sent into fosterage.

The less said, the better. She got in fights, she was stubborn, she stole, she did other things. Some of what was said was true, most wasn't. She went from one bad home to another. Hogwarts started, and the cycle continued. She made few friends, not trusting easily.

The break came her Fourth year, after a particularly bad foster family-- she was finally sent to an orphanage, and it wasn't untrue to say her life changed. The owner, Maria, took her in and spent hours, days, weeks, months, working with her. Bit by bit, she melted, and rusted. Maria, still a foster parent, opened her door to have a deeper connection. She'd needed Maria, and Maria had known. She'd changed her name then, chosen it self. Willa, for the willfulness everyone said she had, that some cursed. Saxicor-- saxum cor, stone heart. It wasn't quite an accurate translation, and she was sure it wasn't proper Latin, but what did it matter? It was something of hers, something to call her own, something she'd chosen for herself.

She was among the older kids at Domum, and she convinced Maria to make the place a foster home again. Foster care had failed her, but it hadn't failed everyone. It existed for a reason, and they needed to be a place where kids like Willa could be safe. Willa pushed and shoved until she'd gotten her way-- she knew she would, because Maria felt as strongly as Willa.

She'd found a cousin at Hogwarts, and became close with her, convincing Maria to take her in as well. Elizaveta was another half-blood, another cousin orphaned by the battle. Her experience had been better than Willa's, and she'd lived almost comfortably with her mother's family. Elizaveta spun out, seduced and broke someone's heart, graduated. Willa focused her anger in other ways-- stealing, cheating, lying.

After her graduation, Maria presented her with adoption papers and co-ownership papers. Willa signed both.

She wasn’t particularly maternal, had never been. That was Maria with the soft force, unstoppable as a tsunami. But the kids had started to see Willa as an older sister in the three years she’d been there, had watched and helped as her walls rusted and swung open for them. Domum Agápe was a family, her family, and no matter how temporary a stay might be, they’d go to war for each other.

Mentors tumbled in and out. The pay wasn’t much, the work was demanding, and it required rather a lot of creative uses of magic. Most of the ones who stayed longer were those who’d grown up in Domum, ones who either couldn’t find another job or wanted to give back. Maria let the kids have beds until they were twenty, always had the place up as a place to crash.

The Ministry changed and Willa planned. Many of their kids had been left young, or were Muggleborns. There were too many unknowns, and Maria destroyed the records they had. So-called blood status wasn’t something they’d made more of, but if names were known, they’d been written down. Maria hid files in miles of paperwork, twisted them out and around, fabricated family trees as much as she could.

They traveled carefully, making sure there were always adults, that children always held their wands, that the youngest of kids were kept in the center of whatever herd they went in.

Life continued, with the children on the verge of leaving. They went to Hogwarts, and Willa busied herself with the newer crop of the kids who needed her. Mentors left, and new ones were hired. Willa fell into the arms of one of Elizaveta’s mentor picks— a young mother, bad luck with step-fathers. The lockdown happened, and those whose paperwork wasn’t successful enough were sent into the tenements.

Willa and Maria had planned for that, had systems set up for whatever would happen. Their thoughts were that it would be more similar to what had happened the last time, and Willa’s contract held up her deal of getting out all of Domum’s kids who might be in danger.

They continued on, smaller and tighter. They worried about those they’d sent overseas to safety, hoping Maria’s friends in the system would be able to cover them. Letters were few and far between with few hidden messages in case of interception.

When Willa had signed her papers, she took on the responsibility to help claw herself to security, to something, took the rope Maria threw to her. Even if she hadn’t, she’d lived and worked with them for years now, and Domum fought for everyone. It wasn't always enough though, and Willa struggled with keeping everything normal, making sure that she was away when the Ministry sent inspectors, because she was never quite sure she'd do something that wouldn't make things worse for Domum. She was already pretty embedded in her systems, and she was never quite sure exactly how much Maria knew of what she was doing.

And-- it wasn't that she loved her.

That was what she told herself, at least, but Willa couldn't deny the pull Cassandra Stone had on her. Willa felt like someone else, someone who could amount to something, someone who didn't always have to be strong, someone who could maybe be the person the younger kids thought she was. She grew reckless, she grew . . .it was crossing sorts of lines, because she was pretty sure Elizaveta had hooked up with her once or twice, and more than that, Willa was in a position of power. She was an employer to an employee, a halfblood to a Muggle under a Death Eater-like regime. There were a thousand reasons Willa could and did give herself, but in the end she always found herself in her own bed, the sheets cooling.

It wasn't supposed to have emotions. It wasn't supposed to have feelings--neither Willa nor Cass had wanted that. It was supposed to be a few releases, a reliever after a long shift. It happened for a handful of months, and then Maria found them. It could have been a kid, could have even been Cass's kid. Things fell apart then, and neither of them knew how to talk about it, wanted to talk about it to Maria, much less each other.

Maybe they should have. Willa couldn't tear herself from wanting, and avoided Cass as best as she could. It didn't help, and certainly helped less that sometimes they started to fall into the old routine sometimes and Willa was left alone again. Cass didn't acknowledge it, so Willa didn't bring it up.
Seven months after Maria finding them, Cass made a stupid and risky agreement to be at an all-magical festival, and neither of them reacted particularly well after it. Cass had vanished, and once Willa had noticed, she'd gone single minded, concerned and angry. Once they'd returned, Willa made one of the other mentors put the kids to bed, gone to yell at Cass, and . . . well, they'd fallen in bed together, and she'd ended up almost crying.

That was the last time, Willa was certain. Had to be. She buried herself in her jobs, pushed herself further and further in. If Maria knew about the businesses Willa did, part of which was done on Domum's grounds, she never said anything. Willa didn't want to know if she did or not.

Samara Scarborough (1978 - 1998), Aurel Pyrites (1978 - 1998)

Domum Agápe

As of right now, her legal adopted siblings at Domum are Alejandra Estrella (21),  Nessa Massena (20), Ella Massena (18), Maita Massena (17), Coelia Massena (5), Adrastia Massena (4),  Azumi Massena (3), and May Massena (infant).

She's got more foster siblings than that, as Domum is also a group home.  There are more siblings, technically who have moved out and on with their lives, and there's been a few kids she liked being placed with in foster care.

family history
Technically, the magical part of her family's pretty long-winded, as fits for those who consider themselves pureblood.

Pyrites, Crabbe, Rurikov, Dolohov, and Waffling are those technically most directly related-- father, biological grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmothers, respectively. There are cousins from those, but. . . well, they've got nothing to do with her, and she'd like even less to do with them.

Her father was from a small, older line, not quite distinguished enough that they were in a position to have a title-by-courtesy. The largest thing they were known for were textbooks which, while did bring the family gold, often made sure it was associated with deeply-seeded feelings of boredom and sudden urges to daydream. Truthfully, it was a minor miracle that they'd managed to marry those with similar feelings on the importance of blood purity being kept. His mother had been the youngest daughter of a well-known line, growing older without a marriage as she'd had a somewhat spotted reputation in her youth. Not spoiled or fully questionable, mind, simply no as good as it ought to have been.
Leonora and Tiberan were fairly well-matched in their radicalness, as Tiberan's mother had installed a deep dislike and distrust of Muggles and Muggle-borns. Adrianus, the eldest son, followed perfectly in their footsteps, becoming a Death Eater shortly after graduation from Hogwarts, then serving as a spy for the Dark Lord. Ekaterina made a half-Russian marriage with the better Russian part of the family, and the long-awaited second son, well--

Aurel had had committed the crimes of both falling in love with a Muggle-born, and then inspiring his cousin to do the same. Aurel was promptly disowned for some relatively vague excuse on embezzling and plagiarism, and then left alone, as there were more important things to do. Besides, there had been so much effort for him, it was almost more of a waste to kill him.

Samara on the other hand was raised a perfectly well-to-do upper middle class girl. She'd taken a few piano lessons, attended a highly-rated (and somewhat expensive) nursery school before going into a decently-rated neighboring school. She was not an only child, so it was considered easier to have the paid-for-school be when children were most difficult to train them into a semblance of normality. She got along decently well with her siblings and parents, though never could quite explain the things that happened to her.

As her last name was indeed Scarborough, she'd always had a fascination with the ballad Scarborough Fair. It was a hobby of hers to collect and listen to the different versions, to find similarities, to play them. She liked the theories on the song, liked to compare it to The Elfin Knight, liked to pretend that maybe someday she'd be called on to do the tasks. She grew out of that hope by the time she received a Hogwarts letter and a visit, but she always carried one of the herbs with her at all times. She was magical; she didn't have to wait on anyone to call for her-- she would simply do the tasks herself, to see if some elfin knight might be summoned, or some long-lost ghost.

She was Sorted into Ravenclaw in Hogwarts, and her making of the cambric shirt started then. It took some time to complete-- after all, the magical world had different versions, and Samara wanted the completion of the mythological tasks to be as accurate to as many of the versions as she could.

Samara and Aurel eventually fell in love, and Aurel decided that she was worth leaving his family for. His much-older brother was unlikely to do much, not when the Ministry was on high alert for any Death Eater, and Aurel was sure Adrianus wasn't actually one. He was rather wrong, but that's hindsight for you.

In 1997, the Ministry fell, and Samara went on the run. Aurel was with her at first, but then they decided it was best to stay separate, so that maybe Aurel could draw the attention to himself. He stayed in Hogsmeade, trying to live a very public profile as his wife ran. On the night of the Battle, Aurel heard what was going on from fleeing students, contacted his cousin and friend Nathaniel to join in to help out. They'd both married women their families despised-- Aurel a Muggleborn, and Nathaniel the daughter of Muggleborns. Nathaniel's wife would be a target anyway, and Nathaniel was better at curses than Aurel was.

Neither got far in the Battle. Adrianus cut them down, and once the Battle ended, found his sister and husband. Two quick curses ended them, and another five ended the Quintus family, leaving the opportunity for Adrianus and his family to take the identities of their second cousins/his sister's in-laws.

Samara never finished her list of items to make and find. She'd been carrying one of the four herbs in the song as long as she could remember-- either parsley, sage, rosemary, or thyme. She wasn't superstitious, but fifteen years of a ritual can leave someone partially. If Samara was asked, she'd likely her fate was sealed when her last springs of parsley crumbled.

Of all this, Willa is aware of: the names of her parents, what their ‘blood status’ was, how her mother died, when her father died, who her father’s parents were.
