Standing at 5'11'', Tosha is slightly taller than average. He's got black hair and contrastingly green eyes, but his most defining feature would have to be his strong nose. He's grown stockier during the last years, but he's still an able dueller. He also possesses certain wizards' talent to dress slightly more extravagantly than the average Muggle without even noticing. It certainly doesn't keep him from being threatening when he considers it necessary.

Anton was born on an ice cold and dark winter's day as the second child and first and only son of Anton and Olga Britanov. Named after his father, his childhood was a happy one. He loved and adored his five years older sister, who would support him no matter what. What was less great were the occasional visits from his uncle, who always knew everything better. These happened when he was very little and then ceased because his uncle was apparently in Britain, doing who knew what, his parents wouldn't tell him. His uncle only came back when Tosha was eight, and once the boy was ready to go to school, Dyadya Igor had become Dark Arts teacher at Durmstrang. It was alright as long as his sister was there too, but after a few years, she had finished school and was engaged to their dyadya's extreme dislike. But as none of them really cared what he thought, it didn't matter. And soon he also became Headmaster, so that flattered his vanity enough to simply ignore what Karolina was doing.
He had just started his last year of school when his whole world changed. In August 1991, his beloved sister and her husband got murdered, for him completely unexpectedly. He waited for a few months, confident that the мракоборецы would find out what had happened and they would get justice. But nothing ever happened. At last he had enough. Not eighteen yet but wizardingwise of age and therefore feeling entitled to make the decision, he left school without bothering to finish his education, ignoring the admonitions of his parents, and instead trying to figure out what he could about what had happened to Karolina and her family.
The most important discovery then was that contrary to Karolina's and Sasha's, the baby's corpse had not been found. From then on, he was not only eager to have justice for his sister but also to find his niece, who he grew convinced had to still be alive despite having so little evidence. He travelled far and wide, was an apprentice all over the world with wizards and witches who were reknowned for their detective skills until he was a reknowned investigator in his own rights. After a few years he had even deduced who was the culprit for his sister's death. But knowing Katarzyna's name didn't mean knowing where the witch was.
Then, when he was thirty, something - or rather someone - else happened that detracted him for a while. While doing a job in Sibiria, he got a little wreckless and was lucky that he only ended up in the hospital. There, he met a nurse and a few months later, he and Nadya were married. He was often away, and though he loved his wife, he was frankly not very good at showing it, mostly because he spent all his free time thinking about finding his niece. Still, three years later their daughter was born, and Olya could always console her mother when Tosha was away. But once again tragedy struck though this time without the interference of human malignity. When their daughter was only eight, Nadya contracted Dragon Pox and the Healers realized too late that she was allergic to an ingredient of Gunhilda de Gorsemoor's cure.
The only way Tosha knew how to deal with the pain was to work even more and doubling his efforts to discover anything about Katarzyna. He mostly left Olya with her grandparents. Then he was given a mission in England that he knew from the beginning would take months, so for once he took his daughter with him when he went there in spring 2018. His daughter did receive a Hogwarts letter, which suprised both of them, but in Tosha's opinion it would be a good place for her while he had to continue journeying from one place to another. And maybe the Book of Acceptance just knew that he would soon have reason to stay longer in England than he had ever wanted. In any case, he managed to wrap up his case in early September. And then the borders closed, hindering him from departing like he would have done otherwise.

In 1914, Ivan Semyonovich Karkarov was born as the youngest son in a pureblood family that was far from poor in children, among them also Adrianna, who would later on marry into the family Dolohov. But Ivan had so many older brothers that when he fell in love with a halfblood girl. She was from a good and old family, but still, she was a half-blood. His family did see that the marriage was morganatic, and he went to live away from his family further in the west. Thus, their two sons, Igor and Anton, did not go to Koldovoretz but to Durmstrang.
Igor very much resented his father for having married his mother, desperate for being accepted by the main branch of the family. This self-hatred was one of the driving factors that turned him into a Death Eater in the end. His younger brother thought that was all just ridiculous and when he married, his only motivation was that he loved the girl, very much similar to his mother a halfblood of a good family. They were happy together - happy to have in their daughter and son kind, intelligent children, who they were sure would make them proud.
