General Appearance: When Samuel walks, he does so with a lightly stroll. He is 5’11” with entrancing blue eyes and short blonde hair. Depending on his mood and how much time he has, he sometimes has facial hair, varying from a goatee to a moustache. He has muscular frame and is tattooed. When he’s nervous he fiddles with the cuffs on his shirt.

Character History:

Samuel was born to James and Carol Copeland in the summer of 1985. James was a halfblood and Carol a muggleborn and the family lived in a muggle neighbourhood in North London. Three years later, they had a second child, Samuel’s sister Hannah. When Samuel was four he walked into the kitchen as his parents were having a massive row, causing a lot of broken dishes. Being such a young boy , he ran out of the house and down the street causing him to get lost, some passers-by came across and helped him get home. He was glad for this not because it got his parents to stop fighting (for the time being) but because he was with his sister again.

A few days before he turned five, Samuel got his magical powers (he managed to set his dinner plate on fire) , this petrified him, he thought something was wrong with him until his father sat him down and explained that nothing was wrong with him and showed him how magical could be good. This was really the last good thing his father ever did for him and the family as when he was six James walked out on the family. Carol chose to home school Educate James and Hannah, since she didn’t how she’d cope with two magical children in the muggle school system as a single parent.

When he started at Hogwarts, it was still during the height of Voldemort’s reign and this meant that he kept to himself. It was at this time he also learnt why his father had left the family. James had made many bad financial decisions and to alleviate the family of them and not to burden them, he left them. During his second year is when Voldemort was defeated. Since he wasn’t related to anyone who was part of the defeat or any of Voldermort’s followers he delved right into his studies as he own way of recovering from what he had witnessed from the war.

When he graduated, Samuel travelled around the world for a about a year before he started studying spell invention before deciding it wasn’t for him and moved to into teaching, focusing on charms since it was his best subject.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Samuel doesn't pay too much attention to this unless it’s really requires him to. But overall he feels that only death eaters themselves should have to pay for their crimes not their families especially those that all innocent.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Being home schooled and living in a muggle neighbourhood Samuel and his sister was sheltered from everything of Voldermort’s reign by his mother . It wasn’t until he received his Hogwarts letter that Carol told Samuel of the evils that Voldemort inflicted. It was in his second year when the reign ended with the war and that his mother was rest assured that her children would go to school free from the terror of the death eaters.

Family History:

James was born into a family where he was the second oldest son, his parents insisted on sending him to Muggle schools until he was able to go Hogwarts. He and his older brother were very close, playing sports together in their younger years and sorted into Hufflepuff together. When his older brother moved overseas after graduating Hogwarts, James felt alone and was ‘lost’ he hadn’t made many friends. It wasn’t until he became friends with Carol a fellow Hufflepuff that he started to brighten up and started to feel happier.

Carol was shocked when she was received when she was accepted into Hogwarts as the youngest of three girls she had never known to magic to actually exist. She worked hard to adjust to being a witch during her time at school, when she met James she started to finally be at peace with being a witch. Eventually they started dating, falling in love and marrying a little less than two years after they graduated.

They moved into North London with James taking a job in the financial hub of London as he aimed to provide for his family. Unfortunately after some bad financial mistakes it took its toll on his marriage and he and Carol divorced.
