Character History:
Harry James Potter was born on July 31st, 1980, a halfblood, born to James and Lily Potter. He was born while his parents were in hiding, and they lived in Godric's Hollow under the protection of the Fidelius Charm.

On October 31st, 1981, Voldemort entered their home, as Lily and James had been betrayed by Peter Pettigrew, their Secret-Keeper. After they had been killed, Voldemort turned his wand on Harry, who was protected by the sacrifice of his mother. Voldemort's Killing Curse backfired on him, and it killed his physical form along with his powers. He bore from that night a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt. Harry was rescued by Hagrid from the house, even when Sirius came to try to convince him to let him take him. Hagrid took Harry to Privet Drive by way of Sirius's flying motorcycle.

And so began Harry Potter's miserable home life with his aunt, uncle, and cousin, never knowing he was a wizard until one fateful day a decade later.

Harry's aunt and uncle did not understand or approve of magic, and did not like anything that they didn't consider normal. They told Harry that his parents died in a car crash, as well as saying that his father was unemployed, and a drunk. He was never allowed to ask questions about his parents, and there were no photographs in the house of them. Even when his magic did begin to appear, the Dursleys were convinced that they would be able to get rid of it. They did so by yelling at him whenever something happened, as well as punishing him in ways that included meal deprivation. Throughout his childhood, he was paid very little attention to, slept in a cupboard under the stairs, and was bullied by his cousin, Dudley, often. He had no idea why all of these strange things happened to him. Several examples of what happened to him through his childhood was when his aunt tried to cut his hair with kitchen scissors, and it ended up with him being almost completely bald with the exception of his hair that covered his scar, but by morning it had all grown back. There was also the time when he was being chased by his bully of a cousin and his friends, and ended up on the roof of the school. Finally, there was the event on his cousins's birthday, where he made glass disappear in the boa constrictor enclosure. This was also when he unknowingly spoke Parseltongue for the first time.

Letters began to arrive to Number 4 Privet Drive, addressed to Harry, though he was not allowed to open them. Vernon Dursley would destroy any one that arrived, even when the letters began to come in larger amounts, finally flying out of the fireplace after Vernon had boarded up the house. They left their home, relocating to a small shack on an island by the sea. Vernon was sure that they would not be able to find them there, though, at exactly midnight, Rubeus Hagrid arrived. It was then that Harry did get his explanation, finding out that not only that he was a wizard, but also found out the truth about what had happened to his magical parents as well. He was taken to Diagon Alley to get his supplies, and this was where he found out the true measure of what had happened to his family and what that really meant for him being The-Boy-Who-Lived. He found out how much money his parents had left him, and got his wand, learning that it was the twin to the same wand that had killed his parents, amongst many others.

Harry met two people who would become his very good friends on the Hogwarts Express, though he and Ron Weasley did not befriend Hermione Granger at the time. He arrived at Hogwarts, and although the Sorting Hat considered putting him into Slytherin, he went with Gryffindor instead. His friendship with Ron Weasley continued to grow, though they did not befriend Hermione until Halloween, when they saved her from a troll that had been let into the school. Throughout this year at Hogwarts, he also made an enemy of Draco Malfoy. As well as this, he was permitted to join the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a first year, becoming the youngest Seeker in a century.

His first year was a dramatic one, with an incident occuring at a Quidditch match where his broomstick was being jinxed, with a detention in the Forbidden Forest that led him to learn more about Voldemort and finding out that it was the Philosopher's Stone that the dark wizard was after. As he, Ron, and Hermione had found a room with a three-headed dog a trapdoor, they went down it when they thought that Professor Snape (who had harbored an instant dislike to Harry) had gone down there to retrieve the Stone for Voldemort. They had to pass several challenges, ending with Harry alone having to stop it from getting stolen. It was then that he found out that it was Professor Quirrell who was attempting to get the Philosopher's Stone for Voldemort. Voldemort had been on the back of Quirrel's head, and Harry had to fight him again, though his mother's protection saved him as Professor Quirrell could not touch him. Voldemort had been thwarted in his attempt's to return, though Dumbledore did tell Harry in the hospital wing days later, that there were other ways the dark wizard could return. At the end of the year feast, Dumbledore awarded points to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville, causing Gryffindor to win the House Cup.

The summer brought about no contact from Harry's friends, much to his disappointment. However, on his birthday, he went into his room to find a house elf, and this conversation revealed to him that the elf had been stopping all of Harry's letters as an attempt to stop Harry from wanting to come back to Hogwarts. He also was told that he absolutely couldn't return, as dangerous things were going to happen there. When Harry refused, the house elf (named Dobby) dropped a cake on a guest of the Dursleys, making it look as though Harry had done it. This led him to getting locked into his room and told that he would not be allowed to go back to school. However, Ron, Fred, and George Weasley came to rescue him via flying car, taking him to their home in the early hours of a morning. However, this would not be the last attempt that Dobby would make to stop Harry from returning to Hogwarts. Next he attempted to stop him by blocking the entrance to the platform at King's Cross, causing him as well as Ron to miss the train. They just took the flying car to Hogwarts, and Dobby once again did not succeed in his mission to keep Harry away from the impending danger.

His second year was eventful as well. There was a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor that kept dragging Harry into the spotlight, but more importantly, the Chamber of Secrets was opened. Attacks followed, and when Harry unintentionally revealed that he could speak Parseltongue, rumors began to fly that he was the heir of Slytherin and behind these attacks. However, Harry believed it to be Draco Malfoy, and Hermione helped to make Polyjuice Potion so that she, Harry, and Ron could question the Slytherin for themselves. After turning into two of Draco's friends, they questioned him and found that he was not the heir, nor did he know who was. However, they did learn that the chamber had been opened before and that a girl had died.

Eventually, Harry found a diary, though it wrote back to him, and revealed that it had been Hagrid accused of opening the chamber before. Hermione ended up petrified, and Harry and Ron came to visit Hagrid to talk to him about the chamber. However, the Minister came and arrested him, though giving them a clue to follow as he left. They went into the forest, met Aragog, and found out that it had not been Hagrid after all. Harry found out that the ghost he had met in a bathroom earlier in the year was the victim of the chamber being opened before, and finally found out that the monster was a basilisk, traveling through the pipes.

Ron's sister was brought into the chamber, and Ron and Harry went down to save her, trying to get Lockhart to help. Lockhart attempted to erase their memories when they realized he was a fraud, and the spell backfired, separating Harry from the man as well as Ron, so the Boy-Who-Lived had to continue on alone. He found Ginny who had been being possessed by the memory in the diary, saw the memory of Tom Riddle, and found out that he was actually Voldemort. After this, he had to fight off the basilisk, helped by the sword that he pulled out of the Sorting Hat--which had been delivered by Fawkes (Dumbledore's Phoenix) after Harry had defended his headmaster. He successfully defeated the snake, and destroyed the diary.

Out of his years at Hogwarts, his third was arguably the least eventful, but was by no means boring. In this year, a mass-murderer by the name of Sirius Black escaped. It was found out by Harry that the man was potentially after him, as he had been a supporter of Voldemort. Later, he found out that the man had actually been best friends with his father in school. He had betrayed them, and was the reason that his parents were dead. Because of the escape of this dangerous man, the Ministry placed Dementors at Hogwarts, which Harry did not do well with. He was taught how to do the Patronus Charm by the new DADA professor to keep himself safe from the creatures. Near the end of the year, after going to visit Hagrid, Ron's rat escaped from his grip and it was then that they found themselves by the Whomping Willow. A giant dog attacked Ron and pulled him inside of the tree. Harry and Hermione followed behind him to save him and it was then that they found out that the dog was Sirius Black in Animagus form. Remus Lupin, the new DADA professor, came in soon after. It was revealed in this conversation that it had not been Sirius at all that had betrayed Harry's parents, but Peter Pettigrew. Peter was Ron's rat, and they had been on their way to turn him into the Dementors when Remus Lupin transformed into a werewolf. In the chaotic situation, Harry, Hermione and Sirus were attacked by Death Eaters, and saved by a figure on the other side of the lake doing a Patronus Charm.

Upon waking up in the Hospital Wing, Harry found out that Sirius was about to receive the Dementor's Kiss, and Hermione used her time-turner to go back in time with Harry to save him. They were successful, and able to rescue Hagrid's hippogriff as well. Sirius escaped with the Hippogriff as well. It was then that it was revealed that it had been Harry across the lake that had saved them from the dementors. Harry also found out that Sirius was his godfather. Pettigrew did end up escaping, much to Harry's disappointment.

In Harry's fourth year, he attended the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasley family, and Hermione. However, after the match, Death Eaters came in their cloaks, terrorizing the Muggle camp site manager and others. Harry fled into the woods along with Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, and Ginny. The Dark Mark appeared in the sky, and they were later questioned about it.

Upon arrival at Hogwarts, it was announced that the Triwizard Tournament would be taking place, although students had to be seventeen to enter. Their new DADA professor was also announced, a former Auror by the name of Alastor Moody. Students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang eventually arrived, students put their names into the Goblet of Fire, and the selection began. Somehow, Harry's name was also chosen as a fourth competitor, and due to the binding contract made when a champion was chosen, he had to compete. Not many believed that he hadn't put his name in himself. Ron did not, which caused tension, though Hermione did believe him. It was during the wand weighing ceremony for the champions that Harry had his first interaction with the reporter, Rita Skeeter, and the first misleading article about him was printed.

The first task was facing off against a dragon to retrieve a golden egg, and Harry did so successfully by using the Summoning charm in order to get his broom. He was able to get the egg by dodging about on his wand, tying for first place with Viktor Krum. It was after this task that he and Ron made up. The Yule Ball occurred in between the first and second task, and although he originally asked Cho Chang, he went with Parvati Patil, eventually find out that it was Cedric Diggory that had asked Cho first. Harry tried to prepare for the first task, but was unsure what to do since the egg only screeched when opened. It was Cedric, repaying the favor for Harry warning him about the dragons, that told him to open the egg underwaeter. He did so in the prefects' bathroom, finding out that they were going to have to go into the Black Lake for an hour. Harry had no idea how he was going to do this, but was helped by Dobby who gave him gillyweed.

In this task, he went underwater and found that 'the thing he would miss the most' was Ron, and that was who he had to save. He also ended up saving the Beauxbatons' champion's sister, as she had not been able to complete the task. Although waiting around for this meant it took him longer than an hour to return to the surface, he received points for 'moral fibre' and tied for first with Cedric Diggory.

The final task was a maze, which went by uneventfully (relatively...) until Cedric and Harry agreed to both touch the Triwizard Cup at the same time, in order to tie. However, that transported them both to a graveyard. It was there that Lord Voldemort was waiting with Peter Pettigrew, who murdered Cedric before performing a ritual in order to restore Voldemort's body. Harry's blood was used in this ritual as well, and other Death Eaters were summoned to the graveyard. Voldemort made Harry duel him, torturing him with the Cruciatus Curse before trying to use the Killing Curse on him. However, Harry simultaneously used a Disarming spell, and their wands connected with what Harry later learned was called 'Priori Incantatem.' Previous victims of Voldemort came out of his wand as echoes, including Cedric, and Harry's parents, and they were able to distract Voldemort in time for Harry to get back to the portkey and return to Hogwarts.

It was there that it was finally discovered that 'Alastor Moody' was really Barty Crouch Jr., a Death Eater, and had been taking Polyjuice Potion throughout the year. He had also been the one helping Harry throughout the year to ensure that this moment would occur--that Harry would get to the Cup first and be transported to the graveyard. Unfortunately, Dementors performed the Dementor's Kiss on Crouch before he could give this testimony, giving Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic, the ability to dispute Harry and Dumbledore's claims that Voldemort was back.

In the summer before his fifth year, Harry was obviously still very affected by witnessing Cedric being killed, and going back to Privet Drive did not help. When dementors attacked him and his cousin, he used the Patronus charm to save them both, causing his expulsion from Hogwarts. Dumbledore was able to change this and get him a hearing, which resulted in him being allowed back to the school with the help of Dumbledore.

Changes were taking place in Hogwarts, however, as it became apparent upon arrival that the new DADA professor, Dolores Umbridge, was there for reasons far beyond teaching. She was soon named the High Inquisitor and was allowed much more power. Harry was already on her radar, as she had been present at his trial, and she took every opportunity to give him detention. He was forced to write lines with a quill that dug the words into his own skin.

Once it became clear that Umbridge had no plans to actually let them learn anything practical in her classroom, Dumbledore's Army was founded, where Harry taught members spells and defensive magic. Harry began to at least slightly see Cho Chang romantically, after they kissed under the mistletoe in the Room of Requirement after one of the meetings. It was also in this year that Professor Snape began to teach Harry Occlumency, after it was revealed that the link was growing between Harry and Voldemort, causing him to be able to see Arthur Weasley getting attacked as he guarded this 'secret weapon' that Voldemort wanted. Dumbledore's Army was eventually caught, betrayed by one of the member's, Marietta Edgecombe, which also resulted in Harry and Cho no longer seeing each other romantically, since Edgecombe was her friend and Cho defending her decision.

Upon falling asleep and seeing a vision of Voldemort torturing Sirius, Harry quickly decided that he needed to get there to save him. Although there were troubles, particularly with being held up by Umbridge, he, along with Ginny, Neville, Luna, Ron, and Hermione made it to the Ministry. This was a trap to get the 'secret weapon' for Voldemort, a prophecy that could only be heard by whom it was about. Death Eaters appeared, fighting ensued, and reinforcements from the Order arrived. Sirius was murdered by Bellatrix Lestrange, and finally Voldemort himself appeared. He was unable to kill Harry yet again, because Dumbledore arrived.

After this, back at Hogwarts, Dumbledore told Harry more about why Voldemort had tried to kill him, including talking to him about the prophecy. The death of Harry’s godfather greatly affected Harry during this time as he became obsessed with the event. After his return to Hogwarts, Harry became rather convinced that Draco Malfoy was a Death Eater, and this was later proved correct. During his sixth year, Dumbledore decided to give Harry private lessons to help him to find the secrets and weaknesses of Voldemort, previously Tom Riddle. Under the promise that this information would be useful in the defeat, Harry focused intently on these lessons. Harry found himself having a crush on Ginny after he saw Dean Thomas kissing his best friend’s younger sister.

During the Christmas break, Harry was cornered by the new Minister for Magic as the bloke hoped that Harry would be their mascot. Shortly after his return, and after viewing more of Tom Riddle’s memories, Harry had the mission to get a memory from Professor Slughorn, a memory that the professor had tampered with. Using Felix Felicis, Harry obtained the memory, broke up Ginny and Dean, and broke up Lavender Brown.

It was after a Quidditch match that Harry, out of his excitement, kissed Ginny, marking the beginning of their lengthy relationship. Starting on the 30th of June, Dumbledore and Harry went on a search for Horcruxes, believing that Voldemort had many located in various locations. Upon their return to Hogwarts, they found that it had been invaded by Death Eaters. Harry was forbidden from fighting during this war, forced to watch the death of Albus Dumbledore at the hands of Severus Snape. After the funeral, Harry broke things off with Ginny, not wanting her to be used as one of his weaknesses, fearing for her safety. Both Ron and Hermione decided to join Harry on his adventure to hunting down the Horcruxes, his good friends until the end.

Committed to their goal, Harry protected his aunt and uncle, putting them into hiding with several members of the Order of the Phoenix, one example of Harry wanting to protect even those he hadn’t liked very much.

This “school year” began with the Battle of the Seven Potters, the Order of the Phoenix needing to bring Harry to the Burrow before he turned 17. Six individuals took Polyjuice Potion, transforming into Harry Potter to offer them as a potential distraction. It was during this battle that Harry’s beloved owl, Hedwig, was killed by a stray killing curse. After settling at the Burrow, Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour arrived to hand to Harry the contents of Dumbledore’s will, which was the first Snitch Harry ever caught during a match, and Godric Gryffindor’s Sword. Unfortunately, the Minister did not allow Harry to keep the Sword.

At the reception of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacaur, the Patronous of Kingsley Shacklebolt arrived and declared that the Ministry had fallen. Immediately, Harry, Hermione, and Ron disapparated to Tottenham Court Road. After Voldemort’s name was spoken, a couple Death Eaters found their location, the trio defeating them.

Then, they stayed safely in 12 Grimmauld Place for quite some time while they figure out their next move. They broke into the Ministry, successfully managing to get the Horcrux from Umbridge, who had unknowingly had it, though on their way back, Yaxley grabbed onto Hermione’s arm and Disapparated with them, which meant they could not stay at Grimmauld Place any longer.

The group began to move around, but they had a lot of fights due to the negative energy within the Horcrux. Ron in particular was affected, accusing Hermione of choosing Harry over him when she refused to leave and he was just generally jealous over the pair's growing friendship and he left. She was very upset about their friend's departure, but they needed to move on with their mission. They went to Godric's Hollow, which ended up poorly due to Nagini attacking them at Bathilda Bagshot's house. But they managed to escape in time, and it was in the Forest of Dean that Ron found them again.

They learned about the Deathly Hallows, and had to escape Death Eaters again when Lovegood betrayed them due to Luna having been taken prisoner. Harry had become quite obsessed with the Deathy Hallows, wanting to forget about his responsibilities so that he could focus on this information. But in the spring of 1998, they were taken prisoner and taken to Malfoy Manor, where Hermione was tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. But even being tortured, she managed to come up with a fake story to explain away why Bellatrix was so panicked (which was that she had seen they had the Sword of Gryffindor). Eventually they escaped, with the help of Dobby.

Dobby was killed in this attempt, a heartbreaking fact for Harry to see. Digging Dobby’s grave the muggle way, Harry mourned the loss of his friend. It was this particular event that Harry was finally able to deny Voldemort’s entry into his mind. Harry attributed this to his grief over losing Dobby and his love for the brave House elf.

Their next move was breaking into the Ministry, which took a lot of planning and ending up with another Horcrux in their possession. They finally returned to Hogwarts to attempt to locate the final Horcrux. Then, they were ambushed in the Room of Requirement by Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle, and Vincent Crabbe. Harry, true to his nature, saved Draco on the way out of the room while Ron and Hermione saved Gregory. The fighting continued after they had gotten out of the room, though there was a brief stop where Voldemort told them to hand over Harry. They didn't, but this was when they went to the Shrieking Shack and witnessed Nagini killing Snape under Voldemort's orders. Upon Snape’s orders, Harry took some of his memories to view in the Pensieve. It was from these memories that Harry learned that he would have to die in order for Voldemort to become mortal again. Harry also learned that Snape always sided with Dumbledore because of his love for Harry’s mother.

Going off on his own, Harry knew his fate. Using the Resurrection Stone, Harry met with his parents, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin one final time. They offered him comfort before he met with Voldemort and shielded him from Dementors. Upon entering the Death Eater camp, Voldemort struck Harry with the Killing Curse. Luckily, this death was not permanent as the blood that Voldemort had taken from Harry to restore his form in 1995 still contained the Bond of Blood. This helped to keep Harry alive and protected the people of Hogwarts, using the same protection that Lily had unknowingly used to protect Harry many years ago. It was in the state of Limbo that Harry found himself in that he decided to go back to the physical world rather than enter the afterlife with Dumbledore.

After returning to life, Harry found that Narcissa Malfoy willingly lied to Voldemort, telling him that Harry was dead in order to protect her son. Using the Cruciatus Curse on the “dead” corpse, Voldemort then forced Hagrid to carry Harry’s “lifeless” body back to the school, declaring that he had killed the Boy Who Lived. Voldemort then was distracted by torturing Neville Longbottom, a courageous housemate of Ron and Harry’s. During this distraction, Centaurs, thestrals, Buckbeak the Hippogriff, and the families of Hogwarts students who remained to fight, and the shop and home keepers of Hogsmeade joined the fight, not willing to let Voldemort have an easy victory. Soon afterward, even the House-elves joined the battle, Kreacher leading them in the name of Regulus Black. Death Eaters, scared, began to leave, leaving only Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange to fight. During the final battle between Voldemort and Harry, Voldemort used the Elder Wand, which would not go against its true master, Harry Potter, thus rebounding the Killing Curse, defeating the Dark Lord once and for all.

Wanting to get away from all of the attention, Luna Lovegood created a distraction so that Harry could get away with his two best friends. Finally, the battle was over.

During the final year leading up to the battle, Harry had grown closer to his best friend Hermione, though he was still attracted to Ginny. After dating the redhead for a short period of time after the defeat of Voldemort, Harry broke off the relationship, finding that he was growing attracted to his closest friend. Not wanting to be with Ginny when he was attracted to another, he thought it best to end the relationship. They had only dated for three months before the relationship ended, three months before Hermione and Ron broke off.

Luckily, Harry discovered that Hermione had been attracted to him as well. The pair began to date in the beginning to 1999. Ron and Ginny were not particularly happy about this, though they eventually got over it, the friendship returning.

The pair got married in 2000 and had their first child at the end of the year, a son by the name of Liam James Potter. Adaline Lily Potter followed, and finally their last child by the name of Desmond Percival Potter. They lived in 12 Grimmauld Place, and were constantly visited by Teddy Lupin, of course, along with many Weasleys. They still went over to the Burrow a lot, as well, as families continued to grow, and the group had family dinners often.

One particular thing that Harry specifically worked towards was to help spare the Malfoy’s as Narcissa spared his life. Carefully, he watched as the trials progressed, wanting to ensure that the Ministry took care of things properly as he naturally didn’t trust the Ministry. He got along rather well with Minister Shacklebolt, despite his distrust of the Ministry, and supported his plan of reform. This support has caused whispers about his mental stability, people not wanting to believe that the boy who suffered so much from the reign of Voldemort was so willing to let his followers back into society, endangering people again.

Harry had gotten a job as an auror shortly after the war, highly attracted to the concept of aiding people in whatever he could. This had been his dream job as a student, and he found that he was highly satisfied by the work as it was in his nature to help others. He was also grateful for this position as it allowed him to be able to discreetly look into the treatment of Death Eaters and their families, though he has to be sneaky in how he goes about it because of the rumors on his name.

Harry found that his compassion was aiding him in growing angry towards the treatment of Death Eaters and their families, alongside his wife. He joined Dimitte with Hermione, though he keeps this part of himself rather quiet due to the current rumors surrounding his name about insanity. It is better for the group if no one knows that he is in support of it. Harry has joined with Hermione and Ron, partnering with their old Professor, Professor McGonagall to try to get everything back on the right track.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Harry Potter is highly against the treatment of Death Eaters and their families, finding the treatment to be inhumane and unfair punishment. He feels that they are still people and should be treated as such, though he sees that there really aren’t that many people who hold that belief. He wants equal treatment across the board, especially seeing that even Purebloods with no Death Eater ties are being targeted.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Harry Potter was more affected by the reign of Voldemort than he was by his death. Voldemort had been the one to murder Harry Potter’s parents, in an attempt to murder Harry Potter when he was just a baby. Fortunately, Voldemort failed at murdering Harry Potter, leaving the wizarding world in peace temporarily. Then, throughout Harry’s years at Hogwarts, he was constantly needing to defeat the Dark Lord over and over again, protecting the wizarding world as he best knew how until he was finally able to defeat the Dark Lord once and for all.

Family History:
Lily Evans was born on the 30th of January, in 1960. She had a sister by the name of Petunia, and came from a Muggle family. She lived with her family in Cokeworth, England. This was where she met Severus Snape, who lived nearby on Spinner's End, and it was he who told her that she was a witch and taught her a bit about the wizarding world before they arrived at Hogwarts.

She began Hogwarts in 1971, and was sorted into Gryffindor House. Her friendship with Severus remained until her fifth year when she stood up for him when James Potter was bullying him and her best friend replied by calling her a 'filthy Mudblood.' After the fact, he did try to apologize to Lily but when she found out that he was still planning on joining the death eaters, their friendship ended and they parted ways.

Fifth year was also when James Potter began to ask her out, though she continued to deny him. She did not like or approve of the fact that he bullied people but admired him at the same time for standing up for people that found themselves being treated badly by Lucius Malfoy, Severus Snape, and the rest of the lot that aspired to be Death Eaters. In Lily's seventh year, she saw that James had matured and the pair began to date; Lily was also named Head Girl.

James Potter was born on March 27th, 1960, and he was born into a wealthy pureblood family. He went to Hogwarts in 1971, and was sorted into Gryffindor. It was there that he met and became friends with Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. It was in their second year that they found out that Remus was a werewolf, and it took them three years but they all managed to become Animagi. James' took the form of a stag, hence his nickname of Prongs.

James was considered very confident to the point of arrogance while at school, and was a very good Chaser for the house team, and well aware of how good he was. He also was a bit of a bully, hexing and picking on people for no other reason than that he could. His focus of this was mostly on Severus Snape. There was also a rivalry between the pair of them, starting out from the moment that James and Sirius met and insulted Severus on the Hogwarts Express their first year and the Slytherin had been determined to get the pair expelled because of that. Throughout his time at Hogwarts, James tried to convince Lily to go out with him, since she was one of the only students at Hogwarts that was not at all impressed by him.

During one of the full moons, James saved Severus from being attacked by Remus in his werewolf form, because the Slytherin had found out where Remus went every month, Sirius had told him how to get into the Whomping Willow, and he had attempted to go in to find out what was going on. James saved him at a great personal risk to himself, though Severus only ever believed he did so to avoid getting into trouble.

In his seventh year, he began to date Lily Evans, he stopped hexing and picking on students, and was even named Head Boy.

After graduating from Hogwarts, the pair married and they also joined the Order of the Phoenix to fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. And, throughout their years in this organization, they defied Voldemort three times, including the first time when they refused to join his side when he tried to recruit them. They had Harry James Potter on July 31, 1980. However, after that (due to the prophecy) Dumbledore realized that the couple and Harry were very much in danger and they went into hiding. In October of 1981, with Dumbledore's suggestion of the Fidelius Charm. James wanted to use Sirius as the Secret-Keeper, but they went with Peter Pettigrew instead, and it was only a week later that Peter betrayed his friends to Voldemort.

On October 31st, 1981, Lily and James Potter were both killed in their home in Godric's Hollow. Voldemort arrived at their house, and James told Lily to take Harry and run. He stood to face the dark wizard, trying to give his wife and child time to escape. But he had left his wand in the living room, and Voldemort killed him with the Killing Curse. Trapped in Harry's nursery, Lily tried to protect her son. Voldemort told her to step aside (as Snape had asked him to spare her life) but she refused. It was then that she was also killed by the killing curse. However, because of the sacrifice she had made in order to protect her son, Harry was protected by her love and survived the night.
