It had been a long time since Amaris had decided that the Leaky Cauldron was worth the risk to drink at. She had made stupid decisions during a conversation there a few months back, the bartender always knew when to cut her off, and knew how to get ahold of Dorian—all of these added up meant that it normally was not her first choice in establishments. However, she had been bored with all of her other haunts, and thought maybe it would be all right to head there for once. After all, she hadn’t been there in so long that she knew Dorian would never expect it, and perhaps the bartender would have forgotten her, or would go easier on her since she hadn’t been around in a while.

The bar was surprisingly empty, almost oddly empty, even. Was it some kind of holiday she didn’t know about? It seemed likely at this point, since Amaris honestly couldn’t remember the last time that she’d ever seen the pub so dead. Not that she was complaining—hopefully the emptiness would mean that people would leave her alone, or so she would hope. Amaris had only been at the bar for maybe half an hour, and was on her third drink. Unfortunately, she was barely feeling tipsy, as was the usual for her, but other than that, it was shaping up to be a successful night. The quietness of the bar was certainly working in her favor at the current time.

Not a night could pass when Levi wasn’t at a pub or a social gathering of sorts. If there was booze and bints, he should be assumed to be in attendance. He had been at the Leaky Cauldron for quite some time, on his fourth drink of the night. He had seen attractive bints, but for the most part, they were with their other friends. He really wasn’t in the mood to deal with that many bints at once. Of course, he wouldn’t always turn that down, but it wasn’t something he wanted to participate with. They were irritating and annoying when together, making his patience typically run really thin. It was as if when bints were together, they suddenly because one hundred times more obnoxious and loud.

Unfortunately, the bar seemed to be emptying out and he still hadn’t found a bint to score with just yet. His eyes searched the bar, eying each face carefully. Glancing towards a woman that had arrived a short while ago, his eyes travelled down her body. He had seen her when she first came in, though he hadn’t bothered approaching just yet on the mere fact that he wanted to see if she was going to have any annoying bints join her. To his pleasure, she was still sitting alone, drinking. Finishing off his drink and grabbing another, he stalked down towards where she was sitting, taking the seat next to her. “Rough day?” he asked, starting the conversation.

Of course, sitting in an empty bar had its drawbacks as well, and she had just come across one of them. Amaris noticed the moment someone sat down next to her, not even having to look at him to know what type he would be. He was probably out of bints to talk to, and was unsure whom exactly he was going to get to screw tonight. It didn’t take a genius to realize that every other bint in the room was in a group, or with another bloke. A crowded pub was a good cover for her as far as people sometimes not realizing that she was by herself, but the emptiness didn’t provide any of that.

Because politeness was still a habit she hadn’t been able to shake, she glanced over at him, immediately cursing internally. Why did he have to be bloody attractive? It would be so much easier to get him to leave her alone if he wasn’t that easy to bloody look at. Though, that could work in her benefit as well; someone that was as fit as he was would clearly not waste his time with her for more than a few moments, “What makes you say that?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at him. Amaris found it quite amusing that a bloke could go to a bar and everything was normal, but if a bint was drinking alone, it was because she was upset about something—that did seem to be the stereotype, at least, though she was unsure if that was what he was assuming. In her case, it wasn’t as if she was upset about anything, it was just that she had to drink away her shit existence until she could almost forget about it. That was probably more fucked up, she realized, and if she really wanted to scare him off, she could always say that—his type would not do well with that, and he’d immediately go find someone else to attempt to bed.

Levi was looking for something to do tonight, and he certainly already had it planned out. Thankfully, it seemed like he would be able to convince the bint for a bit of fun. Whenever a bint was drinking by herself, she was definitely more susceptible to a one night stand. After all of his time, he had only ever discovered two reasons why bints would drink alone. They were going through a rough time and needed to unwind or they were looking for exactly what he was looking for. Either way, he was going to successfully get this bint, whether she was going to be stubborn about it or not.

“An attractive bint sitting in a dull bar, drinking alone? You either have a rough day or a rough life,”
he shrugged, taking a gulp of his drink. “What’s this, your third, fourth drink now?” he asked, raising an eyebrow in her direction. She didn’t seem remotely tipsy yet, so he found himself rather impressed that she could hold her liquor down so well. It didn’t really matter what happened to bring her here; all that he cared about was informing her of what she really wanted.

Amaris was still not sure how to react to the fact that he was talking to her, but clearly his options were bloody limited if he was resorting to her. She didn’t have to look around the bar to know that it was clearing out, and she was irritated that the thought was even tempting her at all. The last time she’d had a one-night stand, too many risks had been involved. Pete could have seen the Wolfsbane on her dresser, or the scar that remained from Greyback’s bite—it really had only been luck that he hadn’t. But it would be really bloody stupid of her to take any kind of chance like that again when she was clear-headed enough not to. But if she was careful… she narrowed her eyes slightly at the thought, taking a long gulp of her drink. Why was she even bloody considering this, especially since he hadn’t so much as said more than a few words? She was just getting ahead of herself, needing to remember that it would be better for them both if he just got bored of her and moved onto another bint.

Glancing over at him, a rueful smile forming, “Or I was thirsty,” she countered, swirling around the contents of her glass before taking another sip. He was perceptive, she would give him that, and she considered her life to be relatively rough, though others certainly had it worse. Besides, she highly doubted that he gave a damn about her life, or her day; though she vaguely realized that that train of conversation might make him leave even faster. However, she wasn’t one to complain to strangers in the bar, so her quip would have to do as a response, “Third—you keeping track?” Amaris replied, shooting him an amused look. The fact that he’d been watching her enough to realize how many drinks she had meant that he’d probably be harder to get rid of than she originally anticipated; and the longer he stayed, the more likely it was that she would be making another reckless decision.

She was attractive and he wanted a lay, there really wasn’t much beyond that that he needed to contemplate about. The fact that she wasn’t dressed like a slut was making her all the more attractive. Sure, he really liked when bints dressed with the clear indication of what they had wanted as that meant that they would be easy, if he was looking for something really quick. Then again, the ones he found that dressed like they wanted something were typically the ones that were incredibly clingy afterwards.

Levi rose an eyebrow at her response, smirking with a slow nod. “Or you were thirsty,” he agreed, as if allowing that third option. “I have a knack for paying close attention to my surroundings,” Levi shrugged. Rather, a knack for paying attention to attractive women in my surroundings, he thought to himself, knowing that he really couldn’t look at any of the blokes and say how many drinks they had. “Everyone knows you don’t drink alcohol when you’re thirsty,” he finally replied, shooting her a look. “So, back to the first two options.”

If she were smart, she really would just get up and walk away from the man, already well aware of what he wanted. It wasn’t as if she came here for conversation, or to find a shag, or anything other than to get as drunk as possible. That was only getting harder every damn night, apparently, finding that her tolerance was really a huge hindrance in her desired end result for the evening. But it was clear to her that he was scouting for some bint to fuck and was running out of options. She rolled her eyes at the thought, not that she was at all offended at being a last resort. Hell, if he knew what he was dealing with, he’d probably decide that maybe a night alone would do him some damn good. Amaris took another sip of her drink, glancing sideways at him long enough to see the amused look on his face. Apparently, she wasn’t allowed to just be thirsty, she mused, shaking her head slightly at the thought. Of course, she wasn’t just thirsty, and would go so far as to say that he was right on the damn money with his comment about a shitty life. But she wasn’t about to complain to him, just like she knew he didn’t want to hear it, “Yes, you never know when you’ll need to know the number of drinks a potential shag has had,” she said, dryly, “That way you know the right time to approach them,” Amaris concluded, taking one last gulp of her drink to finish it off as well. She supposed that she should be drinking slower around someone who was paying attention to her drinking, as he was bound to notice her tolerance.

She nodded in thanks as the bartender came back over with a new drink, glad that she hadn’t even had to order it—as that just took up time that she didn’t have. Her lips quirked into a smirk at his next statement, amusing that he was seemingly calling bullshit on her answer to his question. After setting her drink back on the bar, she looked slowly over at him, “Say I do have a shitty life, or maybe I did just have a shitty day,” she paused, brushing off some of the condensation on her glass distractedly, before her smile widened, I know that you really don’t give a shit either way—so let’s skip the part where you have to pretend that you do,” Amaris concluded, raising an eyebrow at him. She tried to ignore the fact that that was the most words she’d said to anyone she didn’t have to speak to in months, while simultaneously reminding herself that it really wasn’t a good idea to shag anyone, no matter how tempting it was. Luckily, she had high hopes that he’d be giving up on her after that.

He had definitely seen her before, Levi thought, pondering where it was that he seen her before. A few times, he cast a look her way, his mind trying to put a place to her face. No, he couldn’t picture her having worked in the Ministry with him. He really didn’t spend much time there unless he had to. Perhaps he had seen her come into the Hog’s Head…well, there was a thought, he pondered. It was possible, though he tried not to hook up with too many people while he was working, if at all. Even he had his damn standards and when he was working, he actually did prefer to work. With that thought, he realized it couldn’t have possibly been at work. That really only left that he had either hooked up with her before or he had seen her at one of the placed he frequented. Definitely not a shag, he contemplated, as he would have remembered her face. That now left that she had worked at one of the places, which worked well for him…as long as she didn’t get attached to him tonight.

“Timing is everything,” Levi smirked, finishing off his drink. “And if I wanted to time things really well, I would have waited for you to have a few more drinks. You don’t look like a bint that will get drunk after half of a good drink,” he finished, shrugging. It was a skill he had, being able to look at bints and knowing just what type they were. He had noted from the start that she was not new to drinking, which worked well enough for him. Levi much preferred shagging a bint before she got drunk enough to not remember her night. Even he wasn’t that bloody low, wanting to shag a drunk bint. That just was not appealing in the slightest. “You’re right. I don’t give a shit about your life or your day. Shit happens to everyone. I think we both know what we both want,” he smirked, leaning forward to whisper in her ear, his lips grazing over her ear as he spoke. Pulling away, he didn’t look at her as the bartender handed him another drink.

As someone who frequented bars most nights of the week, and worked at one for those nights she wasn’t out, Amaris normally would say she was quite good at making a bloke realize that she wasn’t at all interested in them. Well, she supposed that wasn’t necessarily the case at work, where she had to act interested in order to get even the slightest amount of tips. But after years of drinking at any bar she could find, she knew how to blow blokes off. Irritatingly enough, she didn’t yet feel the need to get rid of this one, which was certainly different. She supposed she could blame the fact that he was aggravatingly good to look at, and she was certainly already tempted to break her own rules and shag him. Her mind was already grasping at excuses as to why that was a bad idea, but she was simply beginning to ignore all of them. The worst that could happen was that he realized what he was shagging and got disgusted and left, or got violent and left—as those were two reactions she was used to at this point. However, he didn’t really even seem like the type that would notice a scar, as he looked more like a bloke that would want to get in and out as quickly as possible. Love ‘em and leave ‘em, she thought, slightly amused. That was just the type that she might be able to get away with shagging without him realizing that she was a werewolf.

Amaris couldn’t help but laugh under her breath at his words, knowing that he would be waiting a hell of a long time if he had timed his move better—as she had an annoyingly high alcohol tolerance, “Oh, you have no idea,” she responded, sardonically, as it certainly took more than half a drink to get her drunk. More like half a dozen to get her remotely tipsy, she mused. Amaris told herself to move away as he leaned forward, knowing that a smaller distance wasn’t going to help her keep her wits about her. Her smile widened at his words, glad that he at least didn’t lie about not giving a shit, “Good, because I wouldn’t have talked about it anyway,” Amaris said, carelessly, her breath hitching slightly as his lips grazed her ear. Well, this was just bloody ridiculous, she thought, “And what do I want?” She asked, watching as he pulled away to take his new drink.

The fact that the bint seemed to not want him there proved to be a challenge that Levi was very much interested in winning. He did need something interesting to last the night, he supposed. It wasn’t often that he found himself curious of a challenge when there were so many bints out there that would willingly give themselves to him, but he found this situation to be slightly different for whatever reason that was. Perhaps if she hadn’t been as attractive as she was without trying, he wouldn’t have even stayed this long to see where this would go. Nowadays, there really weren’t many bints who had a natural beauty, covering it up far too much with whatever charms they could muster. They acted as if blokes couldn’t tell the difference between what was natural and what wasn’t. At least for this one, he wouldn’t have to get drunk just to shag her.

There was something dark about her, something mysterious, and if he could bring himself to care about someone other than himself, he could possibly ask about her to see what brought her to where she was. Unfortunately, he had gone through too many years of hatred towards humanity in general that he was hardly sure he’d be able to come back from his own darkness he contained himself within. The thought that he should settle down one day was rather laughable, finding absolutely no reason to do such a thing…especially when he could just continue to shag whoever he damn well pleased. There was hardly ever an instance in which he had to be this honest with a future lay just to get her to sleep with him. Bints were naturally attaching, whether they admitted it or not. He had come across some who were trying to convince themselves they were just in search of a single lay to forget whatever piss ass broke their pathetic hearts, but in the end, they just wanted to find another bloke to cling onto. This one looked different. She had her fair share of shit, he could tell that from just looking at her…but she definitely didn’t look like she would need to be coddled through things. Levi smirked at her question, taking a long sip of his drink before responding. “You want to lose control,” he stated simply, looking at her out of the corner of his eye.
