general appearance
To begin, Bryce has the same grey-blue eyes as his dead sister, and they're framed by thin, serious eyebrows. The rest of his face is either gaunt or well-chiseled, and he hasn't quite figured out which. He's taller than Elizabeth was, but barely, standing at 5'10 and a smidgen, which he often milks. He opts for baggy clothing rather than tight items, and he has a leather jacket (gifted to him) that he treasures more than anything. Bryce has multiple tattoos: a lion, an owl, a set of constellations, and an 'E' in between his index and middle finger. He used to have a slim build, but Ilana is bulking him up.

skills
GAMBLING - He's good at placing bets and spending the literal lack of money that he has. Why? I have no idea. He hates himself and he thinks this will make it better. But he's good at reading cards and faces to get the money he's a craving.

TALKING - It's not that he's persuasive, it's just that he talks in a fast and confusing manner to distract you. He thinks he's witty-- he isn't. He's just a button pusher who will talk until you realize you need to shut up, or else he'll keep going until your ear falls off. If you make a mistake, he'll remind you of it for the rest of your life.

MATH - Counting cards, coins, and casing joints. That's all this is good for. And budgeting so that he can make it through the week. He’s good at doing quick sums, coming up with ages... He considers this to be a street smart, not a real smart.

RUNNING - Running from things, running to things... To escape, too... He’s good at it, and now Ilana’s actually making him do it as some sort of exercise. He’s logging quick miles, and he’s no longer throwing himself away from a scene of crime. Um. Most times.

BREAKING THINGS - It’s a gift. He’s constantly breaking everything in Ilana’s apartment. Himself, her cabinets, a wall. I feel he touched something, it will break. He’s not clumsy, he’s just unlucky.

QUICK ON HIS FEET - Both with words and with running away.

PAINTING - Yeah, he’s selling forgeries that look pretty damn identical. His specialty is not classical paintings, but he’s good at those, too. At some point he thinks that he may try his hand at selling something real.

RUINING PARTIES - Um. Yeah. Sometimes he drinks so much he blacks out. And then Ilana has to go get him. And then he’s not invited back. It’s... It’s a problem.
weaknesses
WANDWORK - He didn’t graduate Hogwarts. Doesn’t that explain enough? He was never really good at it, and barely uses his wand. Of course, now that he’s sick, it doesn’t really matter. He’s actually more content being unable to use magic.

AUTHORITY - He hates people who have power, especially those who abuse it. Once someone places themselves be on a higher pedestal, he stops listening. And it doesn’t matter if they meant well— he just doesn’t care anymore.

FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS - This is half understood by the previous, half because he just doesn’t have the attention span. He just skips from point A to point D, no in-betweens, and it kind of becomes chaotic from there. If he ends up making a correct choice, it's almost a miracle. Basically, he's lucky he remembers all the shortcuts for potions so that he doesn't explode things.

HIS SISTER - When alive, he would do just about everything for Liz. Dead, she's just a really sore subject. It hasn't even officially been a year, and he still thinks of her like she's there.

IMPULSE CONTROL - He acts before thinking. And it's stupid, really, because Ilana's taught him better than that.

ATTENTION SPAN - What attention span? Bryce doesn't have one. It helps for quick-thinking, but, seriously, he sucks at keeping his focus.

LIGHTWEIGHT - Homie cannot hold his damn liquor. Two shots? Drunk as fuck.

KEEPING PROMISES - He promised he would stop being a criminal no less than six times. Clearly, that hasn't worked out for him.

KLEPTOMANIAC - He's working on this, he promises. So far, he's down to only taking small things. He's decided he's above thievery.

character history
Bryce was born in Cardiff in the same year of the Battle of Hogwarts-- if only by a few weeks. His mother was rearing both he and his sister on her own, fiercely determined to make everything seem 'normal' despite having already lost her husband that year. Due to having Lizzie so young, her own family had completely abandoned her, and she was working as hard as she could to provide for her family.

His sister treasured him, and he looked up to her as a second mother. Lizzie was his guideline for appropriate behavior, and since their mother wasn't really around, they had little role models to look up to. When his sister explained that she had decorated an ugly building, Bryce latched onto the idea of painting on the walls. He spent afternoons drawing everywhere he could, even if he wasn't good at it. His mother never lectured them, she just vanished the art and moved on. She didn't really seem like she wanted to face the actions of her troublesome children. Then again, she didn't really have the time.

While his sister was getting into fights, Bryce was learning how to steal. He didn't have anything to do most days, and when Lizzie took him to a corner store he managed to get away with three candy bars and a wad of cash. He was hungry; he distracted the manager by knocking boxes around in the back. He excitedly explained his first act of magic to his mother, but she was appalled. She told him to bring the money back, but he never did. Upon realizing that he could get away with stealing, he spent more and more time working on being nimble and quick so he could pick pockets.

When he got his Hogwarts letter, he and his sister celebrated by tagging the same abandoned building she had when she was younger. Bryce spent the rest of his summer running around Cardiff with a few local kids, causing ruckus whenever he could. At Hogwarts, he was sorted into Gryffindor with his sister. He spent a lot of his first three years breaking the rules. Lizzie tried to make sure that he didn't get caught, but Bryce wasn't concerned.

In his fourth year, his sister was arrested for vandalism, and Bryce was both proud and offended. She lectured him for getting caught and then got caught herself. He was more reckless in that year than he had ever been before, and he spent most of his time in detention. He ended up being expelled at the end of his fifth year for destroying the dormitory and stealing two wands. His mother was livid, but since he sat his O.W.L.s he was allowed to keep his own wand. She tried to tutor him at home, but didn't have much time to keep an eye on him. Lizzie was actually impressed, and told him so.

He spent the next year messing around with his Muggle friends and committing quite a few petty crimes. Bryce spent most of his days out and partying until October 24, which was the worst day of his life. He had been out with his friends, unaware of what was happening at the Ministry. Lizzie was the one who had to tell him that their mother died when she picked him up from a bar that evening. They stayed in their little apartment in silence for the rest of the week, and Bryce really hasn't forgiven himself.

When the registration went out, the siblings argued for a week about heading to the Ministry. Ultimately they decided that it was far easier to do so than go on the run. They didn't have the money or means to provide for themselves on the run, even with their criminal connections. Because Bryce... Well, he wasn't about to go begging for money from his friends.

And @dion was gone, too. His not-boyfriend had died, and it hurt a lot. Bryce pulled away, stared angrily at his Muggleborn job, and he hated everything. His sister was a maid-- horribly treated, at that. Things got better, at least for a bit, when Dion came back. He had company. He got a twelve-year-old out of the country. He was happy, sharing his cigarettes and grinning at Dion. Ultimately they broke it off, and Bryce moved into 's apartment and refused to leave the couch for two weeks. But things were normal again. They felt normal.

And then his stupid sister went and got herself killed.

Ilana started teaching him Occlumency so that he didn't get either of them killed, and Bryce thought it was almost worth it to shape up. And then he got sick.

family history
The Davies family is a Muggle family from Wales. They were originally farmers, and then tailors, and, finally, as they are currently, grocers. Claire Davies was one of nine children, and had the luck of having three other magical siblings. She was the fourth Davies child, one year older than Roger and four years older than Landon. All three of them were sorted into Ravenclaw. She was a happy and brilliant student, and she was very proud of her brothers-- and her sisters. When she was sixteen, she fell in love with the cute boy in the house next door, and in a whirlwind of events she wound up pregnant. She wound up having to drop out, but she studied on her own and took her exams. She named the baby Elizabeth, and she continued her studies the best she could. When she was eighteen, she married her beau, having waited until she was sure he would stick it out. Of course, she was already on her own by then, having been kicked out of the house. When Liz was four, she fell pregnant again with Bryce, and by the end of the year, Michael had passed away in a train accident.

The Evans family was another Welsh family, and completely Muggle. There was absolutely no lick of magic in them, and it took quite a bit of convincing for Michael to even believe a bit in magic. Before meeting Claire, Michael was a pretty decent study. But they were young, and he got distracted. His parents were frustrated, almost as much as Claire's were, but it was Michael who broke off all ties, and Claire who kept it that way.
