general appearance
Elle would look a lot like her mother, if it weren't for the lack of such extreme physical exertion. Constantly. While she enjoys a run and a swim sometimes, it's far from the same amount of working out as her mother. As such, she's strong of body and slender, but in actual human levels. She's also quite short, only 5'3, or 1.60 m. Her skin tone is somewhat dark, even if she is mixed, and she keeps her hair natural in a loose afro.
While she is gracefully slender, she has soft features. Rounded cheeks and plump lips, which when combined with her dark eyes make her seem kinder than she actually is.
Also, she has a septum.

skills
All art stuff, like painting and sketching and analysis. She plays the piano and the violin. She's multilingual; English, French and Italian. She's great at ballroom dancing but don't ask her to dance ballet, that's maman and Gabriel's business. Good with charms, astronomy and history. Arguing is a skill if you win all the time, she says. She's perfected the Neutral Look of Displeasure, everyone is subjected to it at some point in their lives. Great arm for throwing things.
weaknesses
Gabriel, her parents, boredom, has high expectations and is constantly being let down. She likes cats, a lot. Zoos, she hates seeing animals in cages. Senseless cruelty? Like, if violence is used then it better be necessary. People she considers unintelligent. Being nice and polite when she clearly doesn't like someone, or thinks little of them.
positive traits
Adaptable, articulate, artistic, challenging, confident, creative, dignified, firm, honest, independent, intelligent, mature, observant, passionate, detail oriented, responsible, sophisticated.
negative traits
Aloof, blunt, critical, devious, demanding, fiery, impatient, intolerant, moody, nihilistic, obsessive, opinionated, petty, possessive, prejudiced, scornful, treacherous, vindictive.
hobbies/interests
Visiting the Louvre, wandering Montmartre, painting, singing, playing the piano- or the violin with her dad. Talking shit about others, especially with Gabriel. Going to the theatre or the opera. Scouring obscure art galleries. Sketching every day scenes of the world.
accomplishments
She's already making plans to open her own art gallery. In Montmartre, of course.

character history
"C'est une belle histoire-"

Elle was born in Paris, along with her twin brother, to two loving parents. Purebloods, though they were, their marriage had not been arranged. Instead, it was forged in love and mutual support. Cooperation and respect, that was what she was taught from the very first second. At the very least, when it came to dealing with her own family. Wariness was for other purebloods and snobbishness was for those beneath her, but she must never be uncouth and she must never be cruel. No, they were better than that, they were above that. Though, what other purebloods did was their business, as long as they maintained their status.
She and her brother grew up in a very creative household. Between their mother's near obsessive dedication to her ballet career and their father's constant musical efforts. They were encouraged to find their own artistic expression, to never limit themselves, and to dedicate themselves with as much passion as they could possibly muster. That was what Elle did. She found art- drawings, paintings, sculptures, architecture- everything that was skill and aesthetic, anything that had meaning and that took effort. She took to it like a duck to water, though she was always very happy to play the violin with her dad. He had taught her since she was little and she liked playing along when he practiced- or at least, she tried to. Other times, she liked to try to play along with the violin or the piano as mum danced at home, or when Gabriel practiced his own ballet. It was a happy household and they were very loving and supportive.
The whole time they... avoided Amora's family. Elle never knew why, she didn't really bother to ask. All that she knew was that maman didn't get along with them and that was enough for her. Their mother was so devoted to family that if she avoided her brother and the other Travers then it must be for a good reason. Elle never considered challenging her parents' judgement, though she questioned pretty much everything else around her.
It was a few years before Beauxbatons that she and Gabriel got a little brother. He was cute- very sweet and adorable even though he cried all night and took most of their parents' attentions. Noël was little and he needed it, they understood. They had each other to keep themselves entertained anyway. With Gabriel's theatre and Elle's painting, all the afternoons in which she dragged him to the Louvre, all the mornings in which she played music for him to dance to. It was tons of fun. They were rather independent children, when it came to adult supervision, they were pretty mature. It was when it came to each other that they tended to be less individualistic. They were used to it being the two of them.
That was... countered when they were sorted into different houses at school. It was fun, the palace was lovely and they made new friends rather easily. Even if Elle was a bit forceful in her personality and impatient when it came to explaining things. They learned to interact with people other than each other, which was important for socialisation. Academically, they were pretty fine. They were intelligent kids so if they put the time necessary into their studies, they did quite well. All in all, they were happy. Things were perfect.
It was only recently that she and Gabriel were taken out of Beauxbatons. Maman had gotten a new job, the prima position in London. Elle didn't know why she wanted to take it. It was London and she was in Paris. It was completely nonsensical, especially when they were taking her and Gabriel away from school and their friends and the theatre and the Louvre and Montmatre- the most wonderfully artistic place on earth, one in which she and her brother spent countless afternoons in. What was worse, London was where papa should have been born. Papa was a Black, or so the twins had been told. Illegitimate -or legitimate? she never quite understood- son of a Black son, never recognised, unknown to those Blacks that were left. She didn't know why they were going. It was just giving them trouble.
Needless to say, she wasn't happy about it. The fact that they were escorting their younger cousin somewhere made no difference to her. They were moving to a castle in Scotland for school. She was annoyed at it, but she kept her cool. Of course. She would always keep her cool.

family history
Shamelessly stolen from Celestina:

The renowned Phineas Nigellus Black had four sons and a daughter. One son was an heir--Sirius Black, a man of fairness and poise, graced with two sons. One son was his namesake, Phineas Black, cursed with only a single daughter before his wife perished. One son was Arcturus Black, stern and strict and, as if the Fates were trying to make a mockery of the Black family tree, cursed with three daughters, one of which turned blood traitor. The daughter was Belvina, a sweet girl that was well-bred enough to marry a Burke, thank Salazar. Finally, there was Cygnus Black, perhaps the most proud of all five children. A whole twelve years younger than his oldest brother and fourth in line for the inheritance, Cygnus had plans to change his legacy of being the sparest of spares from a very young age.

Cygnus was betrothed to Violetta Bulstrode early in life, as Sirius was to Hesper Gamp, Phineas to Jane Arundell, Arcturus to Lysandra Yaxley, and Belvina to Herbert Burke. All of these connections were meant to further the influence of the Black family. By the time Cygnus found out about his own betrothal, though, Sirius was already married and expecting a child. Even at twelve years old, Cygnus cursed under his breath as his oldest brother's first child was a son. As time carried on, though, Cygnus felt his hopes perhaps... growing a bit. His oldest brother had two sons, yes, but his other brothers had none. And Cygnus--well, Cygnus had one son. Marius was... not his, the abomination.

Cygnus' thoughts on the proper reigning heir of the Black family were... extremist. He believed the Lord Black should be of purest blood, as the Black family claimed to be. The purest Black, to be precise. Still, all of Arcturus' daughters were already promised, so Cygnus' hopes of achieving this with his son, Pollux, were dashed. And Lycoris was such... an odd girl. No. Pollux would have to settle with his betrothal to Irma Crabbe, and then maybe Cygnus' grandson could have the opportunity to be the purest Black. But then--Sirius was already expecting a grandchild and Pollux was only twelve. Something had to be done. The age difference between their generations, at this point, would ruin all of Cygnus' plans. He had to act quick, lest Sirius have a grandson that he would quickly betroth to some... MacDougal, or something. And in a moment of cruel ingenuity, Cygnus knew just what he had to do. All he needed was the permission of Irma's parents--which he wholeheartedly received.

Irma was held back from Hogwarts a year. There was the involvement of love potions. And in 1925, just a few shy months after Lucretia's birth, a young Pollux returned from Hogwarts to find his first child, Walburga.

Two daughters, Lucretia and Walburga. Unfortunate, really. But Cygnus thought this might work better yet. If his nephew would just hurry up and have a son, already, they could betroth Walburga to him and finally--finally--have the purest of the Black heirs take the mantle of Lord Black. That was all they needed. Cygnus could be patient if it meant his dearest grandchild Walburga being The Lady Black.

Finally, it happened, and Orion Black was born. Cygnus jumped at the opportunity to betroth his granddaughter to him. Pollux and Irma were still in school, after all, so it was up to him to raise his granddaughter until they finished and could begin producing heirs. Yes, heirs. Finally.

Orion and Walburga married shortly after Orion graduated from Hogwarts. Cygnus did not live long enough to meet the pure Black heir he had spent, quite literally, his entire life trying to achieve. But in 1959, finally, Sirius Black was born. And shortly after, a spare--Regulus Black.

Time carried on for the purest Blacks. Arcturus, Orion's father, lived a long and prosperous life, unfortunately for Orion and Walburga, long outliving his wife, who had died during Orion's childbirth. Still, Orion was always poised to take on the mantle of Lord Black, and Walburga fussed over her boys to make sure that they, too, were ready. They were both betrothed, but as many know, Sirius did not care for these titles. Regulus, on the other hand... he knew pure was best. He knew what the blood running through his veins meant. So Walburga set her sights on him, making sure to not only groom him as the perfect Lord, but find a wife that would be... convenient.

A woman of pure blood and regal connections, as well as one that was unknown enough to England so that Regulus might be protected. So that the Black family name would live on, even if those pesky little mudbloods got the best of them. All it took was some letters to France to find out that the reigning Moreau branch would die out with their daughter, Alix, so Walburga presented them with the possibility to, one day, reign as the Lady Black instead. The Moreaus were of good standing, pure and loyal to those ideals. Proud former followers of Grindelwald--and likely would have followed after Voldemort, had they not lived in France.

Alix and her parents moved to England so that she may familiarize herself with her future reign. And her future husband. Alix and Regulus first met at eleven years old, under the watchful eyes of Walburga Black and Noël Moreau, Alix's father. They were shown the betrothal contract and told the importance of keeping this arrangement to themselves. They weren't just being thrown together for the sake of purity. They were a way to preserve the Black legacy if the Dark Lord didn't succeed in his goals to expunge all the dirt from their world.

Over the years, Regulus did find himself taken with Alix--although it was unclear if this was true love. After all, that's quite the ominous word, to a teenager. Love. Nonetheless, by the time they were both seventeen years old, the war was reaching a tense peak, Sirius had been disowned, and Walburga felt that more drastic measures needed to be taken. They were both adults, after all, so Walburga and Noël took Regulus and Alix on a summer trip to France before their seventh year at Hogwarts... so they could be married, in secret. Officially a Black, but no one needed to know. At least not until purebloods were at the top.

Regulus and Alix finished their schooling and Walburga, much like her obsessive grandfather, quickly pressured them into having a child. After all, Regulus was marked, Sirius was disinherited, her brother had only girls, and they were in the middle of a war. And Regulus--he valued pureblood supremacy. He really did. In fact, he thought purebloods deserved to be at the top--but the cost was not great, in his opinion. Not as great as the Dark Lord was making it out to be. Hurting Kreacher--his house elf, his only companion for so many years--had been a line that Regulus would not tolerate to be crossed by anyone. Voldemort was just a halfbreed with no cares for them. He was rash. He would be their end. So Regulus had to be his end. He had to try, at least.

Regulus Black died trying. Two weeks after his funeral, Alix discovered she was pregnant.

Still not revealed as Regulus' lawful wife, and carrying an heir inside her, Walburga sent her back to France. Best to protect that blood, after all. He would be the last, so dearest Alix could come back once all of this violence passed.

Except that the violence didn't pass. Voldemort died, and Death Eaters were imprisoned. So Alix remained in France, with a child. She had been on house arrest almost entirely, by her father's orders, as he tried to find a way to legitimize the Black child... without making him a Black. Without making him a target.

Within the circle of Noël Moreau, Alix Moreau, Alain Moreau, Elouan Moreau, Absalom Beaufort, Claudine Beaufort, Reynard Beaufort, Miette Devereux, Francois Devereux, and Gabrielle Devereux, what came to happen was almost affectionally called the Beaufort-Moreau-Devereux Affair. Alain, the new heir to the Moreau fortune--which was quite grand, but we'll come back to that--was married to Miette Devereux and had two daughters. Suddenly, as if by divine intervention, Elouan and Noël discovered an old contract between two Moreau men. Brothers. A simple agreement. The younger would get half of the Moreau fortune to pass down the line to his family--but only if ever his line came to an end with a single daughter, she would be immediately promised to the current Moreau heir.

Convenient context, one might say, but the Moreau family was known for their intricate contracts and close marriages. Alain Moreau was the current heir, already married to Miette--but the "just discovered" contract preceded their marriage. Alain and Miette were divorced, but Miette was promised to a cousin--Reynard Beaufort, the heir of his line--to maintain the Devereux ties. And Alain... he was married to the end of the junior line: Alix Moreau.

Alix's son was legitimized as a Moreau before anyone could whiff out much suspicion at all. Most just assumed their marriage was a rushed result of extra-marital affairs, anyways, so Tristan Orion Black became Tristan Orion Moreau. Loose ends were tied and... Alix made sure that they would never become untied.

Alain and Alix did grow to love each other, after Alix finished mourning the loss of Regulus, and had two children: Dominique and Achille. Alain had two daughters with Miette as well: Séraphine and Simone. As for Miette, after marrying Reynard, the pair also had another two children: Solange and Jules. Alain understood the gravity of Tristan's existence and willingly made an Unbreakable Vow with Alix. In fact, everyone involved in that affair made an Unbreakable Vow with her, and it was quite simple: they were forbidden from talking about Tristan's parentage to anyone that did not know of it, leaving her son's true identity in the hands of only two people... Alix and Tristan.

In retrospect, the Moreau family is far less exciting. They are an exceptionally purist Parisian family, notable for their involvement in artistic careers and their close marriages. Moreaus will do anything to maintain their pureblood status and readily supported Grindelwald during the Global Wizarding war. Alix was the end of the junior line. Her mother, Luminosa--the last of her own line as well--died during childbirth, and Noël could not bring himself to remarry. A daughter was a good connection, anyways, and the inheriting line was still prospering. He was proven right when he heard from Walburga Black, of all people, and while Noël would have much preferred the heir, Sirius, he decided to trust the woman's disdain towards her oldest son.

In the end, it was the Moreau line that was revived by the marriage of Alix and Alain, but Noël still views Tristan as his pride and joy.
