general appearance
Evander, or Evan for short, is the epitome of approachable. His appearance radiates kindness from his eyes to his pleasant smile. Although he is rather tall at 6'3" he doesn't appear to be some giant hulking man. Evan has mastered open body language and could probably seem approachable even with a scalpel in his hand. In recent years he has grown out a beard that he keeps well maintained, though the hair on his head always appears lightly tousled. When not in scrubs Evander can be found in a basic t-shirt and jeans. He has a tendency to dress comfortably and slightly outdoorsy just in case the archaeological itch occurs and he decides to go scouting for an adventure.

skills
Clear Head - Evander excels in fast paced environments. No matter how stressful a situation can be or how quickly things can change he has always been able to keep a calm, clear, and level head in order to make his next move. It has helped him become a successful trauma healer.
Cataloging Information - He is a sponge! Chances are if he's seen a plant once he can recognize it a thousand times. Evan can recall even the most ridiculous and trivial information.
Green Thumb - His love for plants is evident in his garden. Evan is quite skilled at keeping plants alive. Be it his knowledge of herbology or simply a knack for it, he has a garden most might envy.
Potions - It is a skill he uses often in his day to day life. A lifetime of learning herbology has taught him exactly what herbs to use for what and more often than not he doesn't need a recipe to concoct a successful brew. His greatest skill is healing potions.
weaknesses
Jealousy - He is used to seeing what he wants and getting it. If others have something he can't then the big green monster might come out and envy will reign supreme.
Children - Evander loves children but it absolutely breaks his heart to see them as patients. They are a one way ticket straight to his heart.
Music - He will sing. And dance. And make an utter fool of himself and not care at all. He is also the type of person to absentmindedly sing along to the song playing at the supermarket, or accidentally sing in the middle of someone talking to him. Don't worry, he's still listening, this is just a banger.
Digs - The itch to go on a dig has never left him. Sometimes he follows it and goes on weekend excursions but when he does it almost always ends up in him losing track of time and days and whatever else.
Place-Sick - It's like being homesick but for places he has been. Sometimes that place is his old home in New Zealand, sometimes it's Egypt, or that awesome cave he camped in during that huge thunderstorm in Scotland. He claims it's because he's got a wanderers heart trapped in a stagnant body. And sometimes that just sucks.
positive traits
Compassionate - Obviously one does not simply become a doctor without having some level of empathy for people. Evan truly just wants to help!
Conscientious - Not only for people, but things. He respects nature and all that lives around him. Teachings from his early schooling days, no doubt!
Humorous - Sometimes he's goofy and does silly things for a laugh. Other times his humor is dry and just there for a little chuckle. It adapts to who the listener is, but his goal is to get at least one smile out of everyone.
Open Minded - Evan is not the type to dismiss an idea simply because he doesn't immediately agree. He likes to hear all sides of a story before making up his own mind. For the most part he is quite accepting of other's opinions.
Frugal - Evan is very good with budgeting his money. It gives him a warm fuzzy feeling to have money sitting safely in the bank-- y'know for a rainy day.
Generous - Despite being tight with the money he spends on himself he does like to donate as often as he can. Not only his money either, but his time as well. Evan enjoys giving back to his community.
negative traits
Over Achiever - Evan has a tendency to set his sights high. The problem is his freaking gaze is always a'wandering. He always dives into things too deep, especially when it comes to education, and it ends up with him earning yet another degree somehow.
Logical - There is a difference between logical good and logical bad. When you have a tendency to mentally pick apart every human who you come in contact with, that's a problem. Evan never lets on that he does it but he's always looking for little clues about people. The archaeologist in him wants to dig up all the skeletons in their closet and piece them together. It's legit an issue.
Jealous - What he wants he gets and if it's something, or someone, he can't have he has a tendency to get very jealous.
Seriousness Barrier - Obviously Evan takes what he does and what he has learned very seriously. The problem lies when he is being mentally serious and physically not. It can be confusing for others, and sometimes he can't understand why.
Work-A-Holic - Evan has spread himself so thin over a multitude of things (ie. doctor, herbologist, archaeologist) that when he's not working he's often still working at something. It is extremely difficult for him to take a break from everything.
hobbies/interests
Digs - If he could he'd be looking for fossils right now.
Reading  - You could call him a library addict. He's always trying to learn more in his many fields of study so research is never ending.
Gardening - His garden is immaculate. It is very clear he spends a lot of time in there.
Potioneering  - Freelance, of course. Evan likes to experiment with what his herbs can do.
Cooking - Hey now, herbs can do a lot more than make potions! Evan loves cooking and trying new recipes.

character history
Evander was born in Paringa, New Zealand in the summer of 1989. He was the second born son to two plant addicted parents, one being a herbologist and the other a botanist. The entirety of his early life he spent learning about plants and the magical properties they possessed. His family was very close when he was young. They traveled together often, not really having a set home, and spent a great deal of their time studying and living in nature. Evander was home-schooled from an early age but once his invitation to Uluru came his parents were insistent that he go. His brother Camden was a few years ahead of him and already a student there. It was a school that had a love for herbology almost as strong as the love his parents had for it and he was excited to become a student there.

Originally he joined the house Anahata where his brother Camden had made his place secure. For some time he thought that maybe his place was within that house too but when his third year came about his things were constantly moving between Anahata and Sahaswara. It was humorous for a little while, never really knowing where his things would be at any given time, but he was happy to see it come to an end by his fourth year. Sahaswara became his permanent house then and he found that it was the exact right place for him. Many of his housemates shared his love for herbology and quite a few others held a passion for healing. As the years passed on his interest for healing grew and he became a hospital intern his sixth and seventh years.

Despite his new found love for healing Evander decided to pursue his lifelong dreams instead. His mother had earned her degree as a botanist from the University of Edinburgh in her home country of Scotland. He decided that he wanted to follow in her footsteps, but also in that of his father's. In 2007 he enrolled in Lufkin University to study Herbology while simultaneously attending the University of Edinburgh for botany. His courses in Scotland were only two years worth while his studies at Lufkin required four. Evan decided that if he were able to do two majors worth of work at the same time before he would surely be able to do it again. He graduated with his degree in botany in the early summer of 2009 only to begin his second Lufkin major of Archaeology in autumn of the same year.

Evan graduated from Lufkin with his degree in herbology in the early summer of 2011 and finished out his second degree in archaeology in 2013. After graduation he was invited to join a dig in Beni Suef, Egypt just a short ways from Cairo. He was able to use all three of his degrees in tandem as he worked along side the Nile River in search of fossil evidence of early magical plant-life. For the entire summer he slaved away under the hot Egyptian sun. While he enjoyed the work there was a part of him that was still missing the fulfillment he found in working as a healing intern so many years ago. He decided that he would enroll in Banisuef University's program for medicine and starting in the autumn of 2013 he began yet another round of schooling. Evan managed to balance his work as an archaeologist with his medical schooling and in 2017 he graduated from the medical program, now able to become a full fledged doctor, or at least a resident. The dig he had been working on for nearly five years came to a close and he decided to try his hand once again at living in the UK.

In 2017 Evander moved back to the UK and was able to find employment at Dubhe Merak Hospital. He has since been working as a Medical Resident. With the illness sweeping through the wizarding world Evan is trying to take life one patient at a time.

family history
Margot Bordeaux came from a family that was a mix of muggle and magic. Not only that, but a mix of French and Scottish! Her parents had met by happenstance walking through Dr. Neil's Garden in Edinburgh. Her father was a foreign muggle man with a love for plants. Her mother was a witch with an affinity for herbology and the two simply clicked. They were married after quite a long engagement, both having decided to wait for a ring until they completed their schooling. Once they were wed they quickly produced three daughters and their family and garden grew. Years of hard work and dedication lead to the couple opening their own herb shop in Edinburgh. They sold a combination of muggle and magic plants, though one would certainly need to know where to look to find the latter. Their three daughters all attended Hogwarts though in various houses. Margot was sorted into Ravenclaw. She excelled in her courses, especially herbology, but found that the subject she already knew could be quite boring. She decided after graduation to pursue knowledge about plants but in a different light. Margot attended the University of Edinburgh and got a degree in botany before leaving the UK all together. She roamed the world for a while, studying a variety of plant life, until she reached New Zealand and fell hopelessly in love with both the nature and a man she met there.

Gregory Litchfield had lived in New Zealand all his life. His parents were both dragonologists with their eyes trained on Antipodean Opaleye dragons. His family lived as nomads, following the dragons as they would roam. The territories of such dragons were always changing and therefore so were his surroundings. Gregory did not share the same passion for the beasts that his parents did. Instead he found that walking through nature was far more soothing than fire breathing beasts. He would often immerse himself in the plant-life that surrounded the camp in which he lived. It was always changing and he enjoyed finding new plants and herbs to learn about. He steadily grew more knowledgeable about the type of herbs and their uses. By the time he received his invitation to Uluru he knew quite a bit. The school was a perfect fit for his desire to learn about herbology and he did just that. After graduation he pursued further knowledge on the subject and obtained a degree in herbology from a local university.

Gregory and Margot met shortly after joining a plant appreciation club that was local to Paringa. The troop would often arrange day outings to observe plants in their natural habitats and the two fast became friends. They studying the region together, both happy to find someone with their same love for plants. A year into their friendship they began dating and not long after that were they married. The two decided to live a similar lifestyle to that of Gregory's parents-- living among the things that they studied and loved. They brought two sons into their world, teaching them all that they could about their passions. To this day they still live in New Zealand surrounded by their beloved plants.

Pending!

Okay, just one thing!

So Dubhe Merak is a mixed Muggle/Magical hospital. Because of that, they follow Muggle standards of becoming a doctor. That means that, after two years of finishing medical school, Evander could not be a trauma doctor — he would still be a resident! Residency programs are usually 3-5 years and at Dubhe for Trauma, it is four! So you’ll just need to change his job to Medical Resident and change that in his history!

That’s it though!
