It had been a long day and all she wanted was to put her feet up when she got home and watch some telly but she knew that she couldn’t. She had laundry to do and dishes to wash and most importantly she had bills that she had to go pay. Now that she was getting paid it made it harder to remember that they were still being fucked over by the ministry but having Darius made it easier.

She opened the door to the flat and took a hot shower and redressed herself before heading to wash dishes when the door opened. Looking into the living room she smiled before running and jumping in her loves arms with a grin. ”Hey handsome.”

Darius was looking forward to the summer because he really missed the light. Like Jesse had told him before he had been freed from the hell whole all those months ago. It seemed like a lifetime ago from his friend had left the mines. Nowadays, Darius just looked forward to seeing his girlfriend each evening. The thought alone made him smile and he wondered if any of his supervisors or other workers would see him smiling at random times during the day. No doubt, they would question what brought on this happiness.

He was looking forward to this evening. He didn’t know if Meg was going to be home or if she had other plans but Darius thought about surprising Faith a little. While muggleborns did get paid now, they didn’t get the same level of payment as others. This left the wizard with very little to afford. Still, he managed to pick up a single red rose for his love.

He got into the building and made his way into the flat and rubbed his face as he closed the door behind him and turned around. He grinned at seeing Faith head his way and opened his arms for her and picked her up and kissed her lightly before he set her down and took out the rose from his jacket pocket and gave it to her. ”Good Evening Gorgeous….” Darius smiled softly.

He was pretty much the one person that Faith longed to see every day. He was the one that she wanted to be around. The one that she wanted to talk to and she found herself wishing she could just call him and have a headset to talk to him all day. They never seemed to run out of things to talk about, and honestly, she was still sure they were in the honeymoon phase and it would be easy to do stupid things, to rush into things; but she didn't want to regret this. She didn't want to regret him. Darius was a lot like her, and she loved that about him. She loved having him around her, and it was that reason that she kept her heart on a leash.

Faith kissed him back, her arms going about his waist as she grinned at him, changing only to a bigger smile when he pulled out the rose and pulled him down for a second kiss. "Thank you, love." She said before smelling it and rushing to find the one vase she had put away somewhere. Getting it together she put it on the counter. "I was just cleaning up a bit before making Tea. Okay, trying to make tea... feel like giving me another cookery lesson?"

Coming home each day to Faith made it all worthwhile. It was his time to forget what he was being subjected to when he was in the mines. He knew the conditions were barely tolerable. Still, he had managed to not fall sick with everything that had gone on. He was there to help Faith however he could since she was sans magic. It made it all worth it. Darius knew that she did get worried and worked up and was scared. It was why he had so easily agreed to move in with them. But he didn’t want Meg to feel like a third wheel. He tried to include her where possible. Darius may be a jerk at times but he knew to not to leave people out.

Walking into the flat, he was often welcomed by Faith. It simply came down to which of them got home first. But it was far from a race. However, he was going to be the one to do the cooking regardless. Bless her, Faith had tried a number of times but she left it to him to cook most nights. Darius hardly minded. When he had been Free, he had lived alone and had needed to cook for himself, so it was just something he did here.

Looking down at Faith pulled her close and kissed her forehead softly before he held her close for a minute. Letting go, he pecked her lips and nodded as he extended the distance between them so that he could remove his jacket and hang it on the back of the sofa. ” Ofcourse…. Anything you’re in the mood for dinner-wises?”

The world that they lived in was not safe. A fact that she was reminded of when she went to work every day. She had known that most of her life and when she had witnessed the attacks while at Kolna and been tortured herself there, it had done a lot to mess with her head. It had done a lot to change how she felt about a lot of things in her life. Dating, finding love, these had never been high on her priority list and she was not really looking for it when she had met Darius. That part of her was fighting still, wanting to be reigned in by her to keep her safe.

Whenever she got scared she felt her walls go up and it took all of her strength sometimes to not say or do something that would hurt Darius when she was upset. He didn't deserve her ire, even when he was getting on her nerves by being so good to her. She wasn't used to it but she could not ask for anyone or anything better. He was better to her than anyone else had ever been. He was so great and there was no doubt in her mind that she was already madly in love with him. It was why she was always so afraid.

He could lose her, she could lose him. This could be broken up by him dying in the mines or some other insane form or punishment that their blood brought upon them. She beamed under his attention, almost blooming like a flower, as some inner light shone from inside her. "Shepard's Pie? With Carrots?? We have everything, I made sure of that already."

It was always great to have that escape, the one place when you forget about all that is troubling your or that the crap you’re going through. For Darius that definitely been when he had moved in with Faith. Sure, that had been a little fast but then again, in their current situation, there was no saying what would happen next. But they weren’t rushing down the aisle and he was not going to propose to her after so soon. He wanted to care for her and to look after and to remind her that she deserved the best. He was prepared to give her that. While they were now getting paid, it was far from what he what used to work when he had a proper job but he knew the two of them would be careful with money. They had no choice at the moment.

He wanted to take her out so badly but there was only so much they could afford. He wanted to treat Faith. He thought it was nice for her to have a fun night out. Sure, they could have fun in their flat to but they could also use a change of scenery. But Darius had a little bit of saving before he went out and spent it on treating his witch to something fun.

Dinner was definitely on the cards for tonight. He had worked hard in the mines today and he wanted nothing more than to eat something substantial right now. ”Ah I see love” he chuckled as he pecked her lips and walked around her and headed to the kitchen. Washing his hands he started to prepare dinner and looked over at Faith. ”So tell me about your day love….” he suggested to her as went about chopping the celery with the carrots being next.

If you would have asked her a year ago if she would end up here, or even six months ago she would call you a liar. She had nothing in her that made anyone act as she would fall for someone. She didn't want to love. She didn't want to get hurt or to hurt anyone. She just wanted to live. She had no idea what should happen now in her life. She had no family to call her own, no one special to hold to her when times went wrong. It had been a lonely life, but she had loved it. Then her life changed forever, She lost everything that meant something to her.

No one had ever broken that barrier, but Darius. It was a little scary, but she had firm rules for herself. Nothing serious as long as the registration remained. She was not going to risk letting someone get hurt over her. She was not going to have a child (if she ever even wanted one) until it was repealed either. She had lived most of her life before Hogwarts locked away because she was a freak, now she was being forced to do the same. It was enough to drive her wild, she was not one who folded easily or gave up but she was sure, now more than ever, that this was the life that she needed to lead, but it just wasn't the time.

Here was not the place for them here was not the time for them, but it was what they wanted none the less. She smiled as she washed up then started to peel potatoes. "It was okay, I got done fast, thankfully I was given a short list to do today. Got to do some shopping, but then came home to shower and clean. "

Darius wanted company, he did, he had never pushed anyone away. Neither him or his brother had been that close with their parents with both being muggleborn but he had never pushed anyone away. He welcomed companionship, even in these dark times. However, he looked to the other person if they wanted space. He was going to obey they wishes. After all, he was already obeying the wishes of the foreman at the mines why wouldn’t he respect the wishes of others in his life. Darius didn’t know where Nate was right now but he hoped wherever his older brother, he was doing well and looking after himself. He had to look after himself. He was already sick and had been that way long before the registration had come into effect.

Darius and Nate had always looked after each other but this was different. Darius now had Faith in his life and he was there for her whatever she needed him for. They now lived together wIth Meg. He liked Meg, she was nice and they got along and he was happy to be living here. He just didn’t want the other girl to feel awkward. He didn’t know where she was now but she was free to join them for dinner if she came home.

He smiled at her as she told him about her day. His day in comparison was spent in the dark, there wasn’t much to share about the details. ”Glad to hear your day was relatively quick and pain free” he smiled at her. She was lucky to have the day she had had, especially in times like this. ”Do we have any wine love?” he asked as he paused with his chopping of vegetables and went to the fridge to look and take off the minced beef and waved his wand so the beef started cooking on the stove. ”No wine sadly” He frowned a little as he looked back at her. He was waiting for the day they were able to buy whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.

Every day was a struggle for Faith, every day that she had to get up and go sweep streets and deal with the hate that was passed her way because of what she was. She had been facing it for so long now, that it was hard to let it go, it was hard to feel anything but the anger that coursed through her veins at times but then there were people like Jesse, and people like Darius that she was close to. Those that she valued above all things and they helped to ground her. They helped her to feel like she was going to be okay, but it was never going to get better until things changed. She could hope and pray and wish and want all that. She could wish and hope for things that would never come, but at the end of the day she was still what she was. A broken mess.

He didn't mind that though. Darius seemed to not care that she wasn't okay, that her past was filled with pain and hurt. He didn't care that she was just a wreck all the time and it made her happy. He made her happy. Meg made her happy too, though in a different way. She didn't know if the other woman was inclined to women, but if Faith had not met Darius and Meg was, the other red-haired witch was definitely the kind that she would have sought. Not that Faith ever said any of that to Darius or to Meg. She wasn't looking to make things awkward or weird for either of them.

He went looking for wine and she opened the freezer and put it on the counter. "Not been home long, wanted to get a good chill on them before you guys got home." She grinned cheekily and bumped him with her but, moving the meat around in the pan so it didn't burn.

Upon getting to know Faith, Darius had come to learn that she had been hurt in her past. As strange as it seemed, it made him love her even more. They were still getting to know each other and Darius wanted nothing more than to show her the world but with both of them being muggleborns they still had so many restrictions in place and of course, there was still the travel ban. But he wanted to make her smile. He wasn’t sure if he was doing that with all the time they spent at home. Sure enough one of them would break from the cabin fever and Darius would rather not see Faith go through that. He didn’t want her to hurt again. If he could free her from all pain possible he could. It was perhaps a farfetched desire for them since they had just started sleeping together before they had become a couple but Darius was sure of what he wanted.

When it came to them eating dinner, most if not all weeknights they stayed home and cooked. They were earning money now but it really wasn’t enough for a night out but he knew he wanted to treat her to that, even it was a small gesture like a picnic in the park. The weather was warming up making it the ideal conditions for something like that.

However, for their dinner tonight it was Sheperd's pie for dinner. Faith requested it and he was very happy to cook it. Darius wasn’t sure if Meg would be home soon or not but if the other witch did come home, she was free to join them. He didn’t want her to feel like a third wheel because he had moved in. Both girls had been friends before he had come into the picture and he didn’t want to get in between them.

Darius watched his girlfriend, a little puzzled at first at what was going on before he realised she had been sneaky and had hidden the wine in the freezer. ”Well, well, you are the cleve one here, babe” he smirked at her before he got two glasses and poured out the wine and handed her one glass and kisses her lips softly before he ‘clinked’ their glasses together. ”Cheers Faith” he grinned and kissed her forehead. ”This wine is delicious, good choice love” he said after he took his first sip before he put his glass down. And started to prepare the mash.
