Put your tongue away.

11th June 2019
Opium Nightclub

Now that the muggleborn registration was over, Lyra was starting to enjoy being out in public again, she still had her moments of pure fear but she was working on it with a little help and guidance from her pack and her friends. She had a long way to go, but if she took it at her own pace Lyra liked to think that she'd eventually not see everyone as a threat; besides she was more of a threat than most people now, not that anyone knew that... well, unless you saw her on a full moon. Tonight was not about thinking like that though, no. She had finally found time to spend the evening with Caleb, she'd been wanting to see her ex since finding out that he'd been accepted back on the Quidditch team but both had just been too busy. When it had been announced that they were free from having to be registered though, Lyra had decided what better time to see him than when they could celebrate multiple things?

Her university application had been finalized just a couple of days before and the blonde was eager to get back onto the path she wanted to follow. Admittedly, the idea of university made her anxious, especially considering she still hadn't quite got a grip on her mood swings or how to manage when her hearing, sight and sense of smell increased with each full moon, tonight was almost a practice for her.  The full moon was less than a week away and Opium was well known for its live music. Luckily, if it got too much she liked to think that Caleb would leave with her instead of making her suffer and then on top of that she did have three more months to train herself to get used to managing all her heightened sense. She hadn't told Caleb about the university yet though, only Tessa and Zero knew so far, but now that she knew she was guaranteed a place, it was time to let her best friend know.

Lyra had left Smokey with Zero, the fox had warmed up to her pack mate incredibly quickly and it had become a common occurrence to see him following the other wizard around the stable when she wasn't nearby and whilst the blonde was glad her companion liked the wizard, it made things a little awkward when she had to hunt him down and ended up finding Zero alone, things had been... interesting between them, she was finding it particularly nerve inducing to be alone with him, but at the same time, Lyra loved his company. It was a win/lose situation for the wolf and she just hoped that she managed to hide her coyness around him and others well.

Strolling down the street, Lyra pulled her jacket tighter around her and bowed her head, she found that sometimes helped to dull people's voices around her when she was out in public, it wasn't perfect but it was something. When she reached the club, Lyra ducked into into the entrance behind a girl who looked around her age but was wearing something she'd never be seen dead in and the blonde arched her brow, there was no doubt the woman was looking to pull tonight or maybe it was her job? Lyra didn't know and she also wasn't going to judge or question it, instead she just peered out into the street, waiting to either see or smell her friend.

Getting the call from Lyra about heading out for a night made Caleb excited. SInce had been freed from the registration and had been allowed to rejoin Puddlemere United, he had been so busy that he felt like all his days had merged into one. Despite the history between him and Lyra, they had remained friends and he was glad for that. He knew had made so many mistakes when it came to their relationship but he had to hand it to her for being so forgiving. He knew while she may forgive him, she would never forget what he had done to her. But even that relationship he had not been able to hold onto. Caleb had ruined so many good things that had come his way and he was not getting anyone of them back.

All he could do now was to look forward and to try and be positive. He had to do so for the sake of his team, Jax had gone to a lot of trouble to get him back on the team and was grateful for all the older bloke had done and was very appreciative of that. Caleb was going to make sure he tried his hardest out on the field. Puddlemere had been dealt a mixed bag of results to date and he was hoping to change that around moving forward. With the break in Quidditch due to so many people falling sick, he knew it was not going to be same, Everyone had come back to sport with a stronger fighting spirit and determination to win.

Caleb believed that as long as he fought hard on the pitch to save the goals of any opposition team, he was going to help united win. He had moved flats and he was much better place now. He hadn’t gone back to his penthouse but he knew that someday he would eventually have the same place again. He was going to get that again. It was only going to be him and Archer living there but at least it would match his occupation like he had when he had first joined the league. Caleb just wanted a good place for him in the world. He wanted the company too but for now he was going to take a break from anything serious and was going to down the fun route.

He knew that if Lyra saw him out tonight looking for that she would likely slap him across the head. He would not expect anything less of her. She may be small but her hands had gotten the better of him before so there was no chance she would go easy on him now.

The wizard was excited tonight. He hadn’t been out clubbing in so long due to the registration and being in France and on the run for some part of that but he was ready to get on the scene again.

Caleb assumed he looked good at least he could swear he had gotten a hoot of approval from his owl before he had left. He was looking forward to seeing Lyra and checking up on her. He knew the full moon was still a week away but he didn’t know if she would start feeling uneasy or sick before then but he was going to be there to help her through it.

He had jogged down the street as he saw the club ahead and moved past the bouncer and walked into the entrance and was immediately met with the behind of a woman around his age who was definitely looking for attention tonight. She had gotten it from Caleb. He cleared his throat and looked sheepishly to Lyra. ”I know, I know, the night is still young and I ought to behave” he grinned as he hugged her. ”Its so good to see you again, Ly. I’ve missed you. You look amazing as always” he said as he took in her appearance before he started to guide her into he club as he placed his hand on her back.

Put your tongue away,
I'm the canine here
Lyra had been enjoying her freedom, it was nice to not have to look over her shoulder every five minutes. Admittedly she still did it, but one of the perks of having wolf blood running through her veins meant she could hear people better and she liked to think she’d pick up and hear anything threatening before it got too close. So far though, that hadn’t been a problem so Lyra was letting herself relax right now and take everything in her stride. It was something she’d learnt from observing her pack, especially a specific American. He never let things get to him and if he did, it didn’t show and Lyra admired him for that. Well, that and many, many other traits. She may be avoiding her packmate, but it didn’t stop her watching from afar. Feelings, they made life difficult but it was also something Lyra held onto. She had no plans to tell Zero just yet how she felt, but he wasn’t stupid and Lyra had a feeling he’d probably get suspicious sooner rather than later but for now, she’d rather play the role of a dumb blonde and pretend that she wasn’t keeping things from him.

Now that Lyra had plans to go back to university she had a gameplan in mind, she needed a job so she could start saving over the next three years, then buy a few acres of land. She needed a wand though because there was a lot that could be done, should she ever be able to start creating an animal sanctuary, magic would help. She had plans and lots of them, but for now, they were her little secret. Not even Caleb knew about what she dreamed, he only knew she wanted a job with animals and all through school she’d been vague, she didn’t want to be mocked for a dream that may never happen, she knew what she’d wanted for years and what she’d learnt from her parents and school, and now hopefully at university, it could all go a long way. She wanted to study a few different things at University though, to build up a strong repertoire that gave her all the tools to run a successful business, but she wasn’t sure if it was possible, she’d work it out eventually, but for now going to university for Magizoology was her top priority to study and getting a job tied with it, she needed a wand before September, she could probably dip into the money she had saved but she wanted to keep that in case she couldn’t find a job any time soon.

Clubbing wasn’t normally Lyra’s scene, but with everything going so well, she wanted to seize the moment and enjoy the freedom she’d been neglected of for so long, admittedly it was nervewracking being out and about again, but she fully expected that to happen, things didn’t just happen overnight; her fears were going to take time to work on, the fears of all the Muggleborns was going to take time to be stepped on and have them be strong again, that’s just how life was as unfortunate as it was. When Caleb walked in though, the blonde couldn’t help but smirk as she watched him - not so subtly stare at the witch she’d just been thinking about and she crossed her arms, arching a brow and shooting him a playful grin at his words. "You don’t have to behave if you don’t want to, but don’t expect me to stand by and watch your shameful attempts at flirting.” She teased, wrapping her arms around him when he hugged her, "It’s good to see you too, and not when I’m in a bad state and hidden.” She replied earnestly, it had seemed any time they’d spent together before it had been just after a full moon or one of them had been having a bad day. This was the first time that all of those worries and sights didn’t exist and they could just be themselves, just like how it should have always been. "I decided to make an effort in how I dressed today, although I’m not interested in getting attention tonight, unlike some people.” She continued, slightly disapprovingly and give the girl from before who was already flirting a look of distaste before following Caleb inside.

It seemed that Caleb’s relationships from his days at school had changed substantially and he knew now there was no way to get either of them back to what they had been. But he understood that people changed as did their priorities and his relationships (regardless of level) had changed. He had left Ruby and come back and both knew that was for the safety of the two of them despite what other people may think. He still had his friendship with Lyra even with how he treated her. He was thankful for both women, he had put them through hell and they still retained their relationship with him. Caleb wanted to be a better person for both them and be there for them whenever or wherever he was needed. It had been a big ask of himself but now that he was free, he was able to live a normal life and just live as everyone else was able to.

He was privy to Lyra being a werewolf having helped her a few times during her transformation. He wanted her to know that no matter what, he was going to be there to help her and to look after and to get her back to her human state each time. He was happy to receive her invite this time to out for a night of dancing. He had only been free of the muggleborn registration for a short time and he thought this was an ideal way to celebrate. He hadn’t been out since he became a free wizard again because he was too busy to get his things sorted and he had been finding somewhere better to live since he knew now he could afford it again. Caleb knew there was no point in moving into a penthouse again like he had done when he had been a made a reserve for Puddlemere. He didn’t want to jump into it again even though he knew that he would soon be earning enough to afford it. Plus, he had heard that most if not all the penthouses were occupied in his previous building.

It didn’t matter to Caleb, what mattered was that he was getting his life back on track where it should be. He knew what he wanted to do with his life and what he wanted to achieve and he knew who he wanted beside him. He had his friends and he was willing to help them in any way he could. For Lyra, that meant he was there to help her with her transformations whenever he needed her. And for Ruby, he was there to help with his goddaughters. He adored the children and he knew that it was right that he be raised by their and mother and he was always going to have a special place for Ruby in his heart, no matter what.

He hadn’t intended to stare at the girl who had just walked into the club but with how she was dressed, she was definitely seeking attention and he gave her just that. He couldn’t deny that and he knew that even lying to Lyra was no point since she had witnessed him doing just that. ”You don’t have to watch Ly but you can stop me from embarrassing myself “ Caleb said with a slight tilt of his head as he looked to the blonde woman in front of him.

He smiled at her when they got inside. He thankfully had lost sight of the other woman he had been staring at. This would save him from being teased by Lyra though she could easily find something else to tease him about. They just knew each other pretty well that it became too easy at times. ”Well you look loverly and if you want me to put in a good word for you, just give me the signal” he smiled at her as he looked around for a free both or even some spare stools at the bar. He smiled and slipped his hand into hers and lead her over to a vacant table on the edge of the dance floor then pulled out the seat for her. ”Now, what are you drinking tonight and I will not settle for an answer that doesn’t involve alcohol. He knew Lyra wasn’t the biggest drinker but he wanted her to just break out of her comfort zone, he was there to help if any trouble arose anyway.
