Simple Things
They matter more than people realise
Lyra hadn't slept well that night, she'd been incredibly restless and after who knows how many hours tossing and turning in her bed, the blonde just gave up and decided to have her coffee fix for the morning. Struggling to sleep as the full moon crept closer was something Lyra hated, she knew it was probably psychological as no one else in the pack had that issue, maybe it was the defense mechanism that still lingered when she was in Kolna, but it was something that bothered her. At least she had no plans for the day, if she got too tired again she'd easily be able to crawl into bed during the day for a few hours. It's not like she'd be missed and the pack knew that if they needed her, they could wake her up.

She was sat at the table, idly running her fingers around her coffee mug and staring aimlessly out the window, it was still dark. Maybe she could go and wake up Zero and ask if he wanted to go for a morning ride or watch the sunrise with her, after all they had been planning to do that for months but had just never got around to it. He'd been too busy trying to spend time with the Potter girl, something that had amused Lyra at the time, but now she was wondering what was going on. She assumed they were still friendly but he'd not talked about her as much for a while. Lyra knew she shouldn't pry, but honestly the curiosity was getting the better of the blonde. Maybe she'd bring it up next time they were alone but for now, she wasn't that bothered.

Lyra heard the sound of claws on the floor and she glanced down in time to see Smokey hop onto her knee and reach for the coffee, she'd hoped she would have been able to have the drink to herself, but as always her companion had second thoughts. Rolling her eyes the wolf blew on the mug for a few seconds and pulled the saucer forward, pouring some into it whilst Smokey began eagerly lapping it up, "I need to stop spoiling you." She murmured, scratching the creature behind his ear. The fox's ears twitched a little and he paused his drinking, Lyra had heard it too, a door upstairs opening and closing. She listened for a few moments to see if she could distinguish who the footsteps belonged to but to no avail. With a shrug, assuming whoever it was had just gone to use the bathroom, the wolf began to sip her coffee again, letting herself get wrapped up in her thoughts and plans for that morning again, she wasn't sure how long it would be until the sun started to rise; she'd just have to try her luck, maybe use the mobile phone she'd managed to buy to check the weather for the day. She just wanted to enjoy her coffee and the peace and quiet first though.
