Sweet Child of Mine
Reminds me of childhood memories.
Mornings were the bane of Karel’s existence, he loathed them with a passion. Often he wished he could just roll over and keep sleeping but when he was at school he had to prioritise. But now, now that he could sleep in until whenever he wanted he couldn’t manage it. His mother had told him she was working late at the social club and the Karel had decided to take full advantage of it and invited Oralie over. His father had still been at home, but as usual, Karel just acted like he was none existent; well, after he’d introduced Oralie to him. They hadn’t lingered though and the couple had disappeared into his bedroom to just spend some time together in all aspects of the word. He wasn’t sure what time the duo had turned in for the night, but he was almost certain it was late and on top of that he hadn’t heard his mother return. He hoped that everything was okay at the club, but the blond like to think that if his mother had needed help she would have asked him, she’d probably just lost track of time or decided to spend the night in the club, not that he could blame her, after all his father was at home and he seemed incapable of doing anything by himself, Karel was just glad that Terence had left him and Oralie well enough alone that night, not only would there have been a risk of a potentially awkward encounter but Karel had been very vocal about his dislike towards the fact his father seemed to have been hovering around him a lot little, something Karel didn’t know why and didn’t care to know why.

Karel glanced down at the sleeping witch in his arms and smiled tenderly, trying to slide his arm out from under her and not disturb her. She looked so content and peaceful and despite trying to resist the urge he leaned over and brushed his lips across her temple lightly. He propped himself up on his arm and took a few moments to take in her slender form and remind himself yet again that the blonde beside him was his girlfriend, his. Karel knew that Oralie had plenty of admirers and plenty of past partners, he’d seen the way people leered at her whenever they walked past and even though it had once filled him with such jealousy, now he felt nothing but smugness. Those people could only leer now. When the couple had started to go somewhat public with their relationship, especially at the end of year dance he’d noticed the leers had become less and less. They were still there, but now gazes were averted when they caught Karel looking. He didn’t like to think of himself as possessive, but he had a feeling others may look at it that way. What it was for Karel, is just simple facts. He didn’t like the idea of other guys and girls picturing his girlfriend in various situations to please themselves, the idea made his skin crawl and even though he knew it was probably a common occurrence, he liked to feign ignorance, at the end of the day after all. It was him who she lay in bed with, not them.

Taking a few more moments to take in Oralie, Karel sat up and stretched, their clothes were sprawled over the floor and as he scanned the room he spotted pair of bottoms draped over his desk chair. He started to slide out of bed but froze when the blonde stirred beside him and his breath hitched. When she let out a sigh though, the wizard let a long breath out and crossed the room, throwing the bottoms on and pulling a top over his head. He pulled open his drawers and pulled out another one of his shirts before folding them up neatly on his pillow, hoping that Oralie would realise that they were for her, considering Karel wasn’t even sure if she had anything except the clothes she wore yesterday. Maybe he’d suggest emptying one of his drawers for her in case she decided to spend more time at the manor, he’d mention it later but right now he needed coffee and a strong one at that. He swept his fingers through his hair as he shuffled out of the bedroom and towards the kitchen, he could faintly hear the sound of clattering plates or something and Karel prayed that it wasn’t his father, but just in case the blond planted a clearly faked smile on his lips as he turned into the kitchen. His forced expression turned to a genuine smile though when he saw it was, in fact, his mother with his back to him. “Morning, I didn’t realise you were home.” He greeted with a yawn as he made his way over to the coffee maker and began busying himself with it. “Is Terence here?” He asked, deliberately using his father’s name. Normally Karel would refer to him as father or dad, even if it was grudgingly but he was still annoyed with the older wizard for trying to spend time with Karel and Oralie the night before. “Coffee?” He continued, pulling two mugs out of the cupboard and reaching for a third and glancing at his mother.
