Quiet Night In

Just because you asked.

Viv had one big weakness in her life that anyone who knew her knew of it and that was her family, more specifically her siblings. Of course, she'd do anything for her mum and her dad (even if she was doing her best to piss him off lately). But if any of her siblings asked her to jump, she would say how high without any hesitation. She'd been all dressed and ready to go out and drink, gamble and snog but just before she'd left Zemfi had come over with her big eyes and pleaded with Viv to play games and watch a film with her and of course, when she batted those eyelashes the witch had promptly agreed. Her mum had already told her a few times how vocal her youngest sister had been about missing Viv and the witch felt bad, but she'd found it difficult to be in the house when everything between her parents had started to go south. 

After her awkward interaction when her dad had caught her sneaking in though, and  the explosive argument that had followed; she'd tried to stay home a little more, even if it was just for her mum. It hadn't been going well and Viv did still spend more time out than at home, but she had actually started spending a few nights a week in her own bed as opposed to the bed of anyone who even looked at her and of course, her favourite toy's bed. As it was Viv couldn't really think like that tonight, she had to be mindful of the five-year-old that was currently cuddled up in her arms and singing along to Frozen. Merlin the witch hated this movie, but it's what Zemfi wanted so it's what Zemfi got. 

Viv was staring blankly at the TV when she heard someone enter the room and sat up a little to see who it was. She smiled warmly at Olivette when she was in the living room and Zemfi tore her gaze away from the film for a few seconds to shout for her to join them and Viv nodded eagerly, "Please join us. I'm going insane right now." The witch moaned, flopping back down onto the sofa whilst her youngest sibling giggled at what Viv had said. "I think this film is nearly over... I hope, then I'll be putting her to bed but I'm not going out tonight if you want to watch a more suitable film." She suggested. Viv liked to think she was close to Vet, they were relatively close in age after all, and the fact she'd been distancing herself from Vet too made Viv feel guilty and she hoped to spend time with her tonight then maybe tomorrow the twins. Then at least she could go out guilt free... It could be argued that she was being selfish, but that's just how Viv was dealing with everything from her magic loss to her parents. 

"Maybe we could get a few drinks in and snacks in and watch a few trashy romcoms. Like how we used to?" She continued saying to her sister before finally lying back on the sofa and looking at Frozen as the talking snowman began to sing, really where did muggles come up with this sort of stuff? Of course, things like that weren't too far-fetched in their world, but she was almost certain this Disney person wasn't magic. Anything that wasn't brightly coloured singing cartoons was fine with Viv though.

Vet over having her entire family together at SUmmer and she hoped that hints improved with her parents so that they could have a summer like the used to have. She knew that things had been tense between the both of them, though she was still oblivious to exact reason for that. But she felt like their relationship was improving or maybe that was her being a wishful thinker. Plus seeing her parents rekindle their relationship made her happy and it took away from the misery she felt from the lack of attention from any guy she knew. Sure, she focused way too much on her school work and Quidditch but she knew she had to take it easy. Her parents had not imposed any kind of rule on her saying she couldn’t date so she was not going to deny that she wanted to have a boyfriend. Vet had already slept with a guy but she hadn’t told anyone about that and she had been safe so there was no concern about it. Many people did that in school and she was just another girl who had done that.

She had moved on from the experience and wanted something more than just sex. While it had been enjoyable, she knew that she was worth more. She knew she had to get over Dima. He was not going to return her feelings and she didn’t want to get hurt. There was too much between them, they were in the same house and they were on the same team and had a number of classes together. It was too much to risk. Dima had been through a lot with Zoe and he deserved happiness with whoever he chose.

Vet had been up in her room reading over some news articles of the Quidditch league and how it had been going so far. She had also been googling what was going on in London this summer should she get bored with staying at home. She also looked for some things she could take Zemfi to. Even though there were more than a few years between the two of them, she still wanted to spend time with her younger sister. She had been at school most of the year and didn’t get to see her sister as often as she did Viv or the twins so she felt like she wanted to spend time with the youngest Buchanan.

She felt her tummy rumbling and decided to go raid the kitchen for some snacks and see what her siblings were up to downstairs. She turned off her laptop and headed downstairs. As soon as she heard the familiar sounds of the movie Frozen coming from the living room. She went into the kitchen and opened the pantry and found a bag of muggle candy…”Taste the rainbow….” she read to herself on the packet as she opened it and poured the packet of Skittles into a bowl.

She took a handful and munched on them as she made her way into the living room. Vet smiled at her sisters and smirked at her older sister’s comment of going insane. Zemfi must have seen this moving a thousand times to know all the words by heart. ”Suitable?” she questioned as she offered the bowl of Skittles to Viv and saw Zemfi reach for some too. ”Not for you love….or you won't sleep….you dont want to get out the wrong side of dad do we?” she asked before she took her place on the sofa and spread out, resting the bowl of sweets on her lap. She watched her sister slide off Viv’s lap and tiptoe over to her and she smirked and held the bowl out for Zemfi. Vet figured if the five-year-old wasn’t going to sleep tonight with all the extra sugar, it would be her parent’s problem.

”Maybe I can finally see Magic Mike…” the girl laughed knowing they had that muggle round device somewhere from the film played. It probably wasn’t advisable to watch that kind of film in case their dad came by. She had no idea where he was now but he could turn up at any second. ”But you’re right about needing snacks, these muggle sweets won’t be enough” she added as she picked up another handful.
