Percival Harold James Montgomery
50 - Male - Halfblood - 05/02/1965

Advice Columnist for The Prophet, Potioneer

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Percy stands at a proud 6’ 2”, a little taller than average but height is never a bad thing. His dark brown curls are shot with grey from age, though time seems to have treated him well. Deceptively warm chocolate eyes complete his face. He is rarely seen without a suit, the consummate gentleman in everything he does.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Skills: Deception, Potions, Charming people, Telling the difference between a tailor-made and a suit off the rack, Charms.
Weaknesses: Percy has a rather embarrassing passion for well-made suits, only surpassed by his devotion to blood supremacy. He cannot practice divination for the life of him, the entire subject just sounds like hogwash to him. Do not put him on a broom; he will fall, without fail, every time.
Positive Personality Traits: Charming, Loyal, Honest, Hard-working, Intelligent
Negative Personality Traits: Arrogance bordering on narcissism, A complete disregard for any rules that get in his way, He holds grudges like you wouldn’t believe.
Hobbies and Interests: Mind games, Potions, Educating others on the art of being a gentleman
Character History:
Percival Harold James Montgomery arrived into the world on May 2, 1965 to Paradise and Harold Montgomery. As the second child of an arranged marriage, he was the spare his parents had been hoping for. While they made certain that David received the absolute best for his education, Percy was grudgingly allowed to attend the same lessons once he proved that he was a brilliant child. No matter how often he proved himself to be better than David in nearly every way that mattered, his parents never gave him more than a cursory glance. David was their heir, the apple of their eye and Percy was just the spare should an unfortunate accident befall the firstborn.

When Penny arrived, they doted upon her as well, as she had a use to them as well: Penny could be married off to a wealthy and/or powerful man of sufficiently sound breeding and they could continue to climb the social ladder. Percy still wasn’t anything more than the spare. They dressed all their children in the best clothes and made sure they all had the necessary lessons, but as long as David was alive, Percy knew he wouldn’t be anything more than a necessary burden. So he made sure everybody else liked him, made sure they all talked about his achievements when they saw his parents. If they wouldn’t acknowledge him for what he could do, then he’d rub it in their faces when David became nothing and he became important.

Then Voldemort came to power. And Percy heard his beliefs and knew he’d found the perfect way to show his parents just what he was made of. Until that baby. That damn boy ruined everything. With Voldemort finally out of the picture--on his own bloody birthday, no less! Percy didn’t know how to prove to his parents that he was more than just the spare. With the Minister on the hunt for any Death Eaters, Percy took a job at the Prophet advising young men (and a few women) on the art of being a gentleman. In his spare time, he brews potions and tries to concoct new recipes or better existing ones.

Percy met Belinda among Voldemort’s followers and they hit it off almost immediately. His parents approved the match given Belinda’s more than satisfactory bloodline, and that was the only time Percy saw his parents look proud of him. When she died in childbirth, he lost himself in the cause and caring for his daughter. Sleep became a thing he caught in fits and starts, often only happening for real when he was so exhausted he collapsed into bed fully clothed and slept like the dead for nearly twelve hours. Thank Merlin for the nanny.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Considering he is one, he thinks it's all rather unfair. They're only trying to purify the world, after all.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? He joined up with Voldemort almost immediately, though the rest of his family merely supported the Dark Lord's cause. His father was killed in the Battle of Hogwarts. A lovely birthday present, that.

Family History:
The Montgomerys and Vermouths were prominent families who thought it advantageous to arrange a marriage between their two eldest children. Both of them came from old money, old in the sense that even the muggles knew about it and them. While neither could call themselves a pureblood line, they did their best to keep things within wizarding kind by only marrying halfbloods (or purebloods if they could manage it) from sufficiently pure lineage.

Parry and Harry got on well enough, having been introduced as children. Nobody would have considered them best friends, but they liked each other well enough and had similar viewpoints about the way the world should be. When they learned of the arrangement, neither of them balked and went willingly to the altar where they recited their vows in the company of friends and family. When Paradise was 25, they had their first son, David, and were grateful to have achieved an heir on the first try. Two years later saw them welcoming their spare, though they didn’t necessarily think they needed one. When Penelope arrived, all they could see was the possible connections they could make by marrying her off. Xavier, however, well he was the surprise they had no desire for. What use was a third son? Not that they gave him anything less than the best to uphold their image.

Each of the children married spouses of good breeding, and produced their requisite heirs. None of them joined Voldemort’s ranks, though they supported his views. Harold fought in the Battle of Hogwarts and died, while the rest of the family remained virtually untouched.

Accepted

Your funds for creating a "most wanted" character will be deposited into Percy's account whenever you request him a vault. He will be getting 20 Galleons as you have created a Death Eater, and 10 for making a male character.
