It had been a bit over a month since Callie had taken the job as matron at Hogwarts, and she could happily say that it had been relatively uneventful as of the current moment. It was certainly a lot less hectic than St. Mungo’s had been, and she also enjoyed being completely in charge of the wing—even if it was mostly minor and easily treatable injuries. Not exactly challenging, but she was enjoying herself. She found herself amused on a nearly daily basis, and she really was starting to be sure that some of the older blokes at the school were getting themselves injured on purpose. Callie supposed there was a compliment in there somewhere, or perhaps everyone was just clumsier than they used to be. But she’d conversed with a fair few of the same students because of that, which was helping her to get used to and more comfortable with the hospital wing and her new job. It was better than just hanging about an empty hospital wing all day. She hadn’t really even met much of the staff yet, since the Easter holidays had been recently as well, though she figured it might be a good idea to do that at some point before too much time had passed. Almost every time that she’d considered that, she’d been distracted by a new patient, but she supposed she really should get around to it sometime.

Perhaps now would be a good time, she mused, glancing around the empty wing. She had just released a first year student that had gotten injured during a herbology class yesterday, and the girl had been her only patient for the past day. Really, the student could have left only a few hours after Callie had healed her broken bones, but the girl had actually wanted to stay overnight—which had been fine, because it gave Callie something to do. Then, there had been a Hufflepuff student that she’d healed yesterday that had been injured during the Quidditch match, but he’d been released today too. But now, she really was at a loss. Just as she was stripping the sheets off of the beds that had been used in the past day, she heard the door open. Finishing off the sheets and setting them on the mattress, Callie turned to face whomever had just entered.
