General Appearance: Klaus is 6’4” and muscular, but not overly. He has short, dark hair, and light blue eyes.

Skills: He is very business savvy, investing in different companies was how he made his money in Norway. This also means that he is very persuasive and is good at getting his way and making others see his side of just about anything. Klaus also knows how to sweet talk his way into whatever he wants as well, almost doing it so artfully that a person would think his idea was their idea to begin with. In general, he is both incredibly perceptive and observant, meaning that he can commonly catch onto what someone else is thinking, how they are feeling, and what they are going to do. He has certainly been asked before if he was Legilimens, simply because his instincts are so spot-on that he might as well have been in their mind knowing what they were going to do next. Of course, he isn’t a legilimens, he simply is intuitive and knows how to read people. Although he get irritated by the antics of a hell of a lot of people, he has a skill in controlling his emotions for the most part, except for when he is particularly angry.
Weaknesses: Klaus reacts badly to any situation that he cannot control, however rare that might be. The same can be said for situations where he is not getting his way, though this is also uncommon. When those situations arise, he is more unpleasant to be around than normal. Although he does not see it like this, his prejudices and misogynistic opinions are a weakness, simply because it means that he is very old-fashioned and would automatically not see the potential in others based off of something ridiculous as their blood or if they were a woman. He is also the type to rely on magic for just about everything, meaning that he certainly doesn’t know how to do anything the Muggle way—as that is just an inferior way of doing things obviously.

Character History:

Klaus was born to Agathe and Jarl Arnesen in the early winter of 1975. He had a traditional upbringing expected of a well-known pureblood family in Norway. The family only fraternized with other purebloods that were in their social circles, and they held an extreme hatred for the Muggle world, as well as Mudbloods and blood traitors. From the beginning, this was something that Klaus easily accepted as truth, knowing that those that were less pure of blood were inferior to him and to his family. He also was taught by his father about the inferiority of women, and how their place belonged in the home taking care of the children and having whatever frivolous hobbies that they chose so long as they kept the house and family as well. He knew that one day he would be marrying a witch that he would have to take care of, because she would clearly be incapable of doing so herself.

He attended Durmstrang from 1987-1994, and played as a beater on his house team. It was in his sixth year at Hogwarts that he met who would be his future wife, Frøya. However, they did not start officially dating until their parents actually requested it of it. They were not necessarily from the same pureblood circles, but all that really mattered to their parents were that they were pure of blood and had similar ideals as far as Muggles ad Mudbloods were concerned. The pair married after not too long of dating. They had their first and only child within two years of marriage, named Lars. However, Frøya unfortunately died in childbirth. Klaus did loved Frøya in his own way, as she was an acceptable witch and a pureblood, so he was at least upset about her death but glad that their son had survived. Klaus was glad to have a son to pass his beliefs and ideals onto, teaching him everything he knew about the ways of the world and was glad that he had not been given the misfortune of having a daughter to deal with. Since he now had an heir, which was all that really mattered as far as getting married was concerned, he did not remarry for many years, though it was expected of him to do so eventually.

Busy with work, house-elves did help to raise his son, obviously, but he made sure to spend enough time with him to teach him what he needed to know about the world. he was and continues to be glad to see that Lars is shaping up to be exactly the way that he is meant to be.

It wasn't until 2010, when he met Oriana as she was vacationing in Norway. The pair dated and got married in the beginning of 2011. Klaus moved to England to be with her, though he really only accepts her as a beautiful trophy wife that he has done the favor of marrying, as her blood is not pure. He cares about her, in a sense, though makes sure she's aware constantly of his generosity in marrying her. He was not too pleased to see how his new wife's daughter had been brought up, knowing that it was going to take a lot to teach her what her place in the world actually was. Klaus also is not pleased with the current treatment of purebloods in England, though as a foreign pureblood he is treated better than others, since he was not even around for the war. But he does hope that the Death Eaters succeed in their plans to bring purebloods back to their rightful place in the Wizarding world.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Although Klaus was not in England for the war, or for the trials, he disagrees with the treatment of Death Eaters and their family, only because he knows that they have the true purpose and vision of how the wizarding world should be. He hopes that they are successful in their missions of bringing this change about, particularly because he thinks that it is disgusting how purebloods are being treated since they are far superior to everyone else around them.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? He was not greatly affected by Voldemort or his reign, living in Norway at the time. Of course, even there everyone heard about what was going on, and he did keep himself as updated as he needed to. After all, they certainly deserved to be successful in their plans and he would be glad for any society that rights itself by getting rid of the scum that try to infest it. He was more angered by the Dark Lord's downfall than he was by his reign, simply because he would have liked for it to have been a success. However, he did find it appalling that the group was being led by a halfblood itself, information that he eventually heard about, though a halfblood that was trying to rid the wizarding world of scum was all right with him--a pureblood simply would have been better, obviously.

Family History:

Agathe Ostberg met Jarl Arnesen in their first year at Durmstrang, and already knew that they were betrothed to each other. Both of them obviously accepted this as it was a common practice in order to keep bloodlines pure by arranging marriages that were acceptable. Jarl was brought up very much the way that he brought up Klaus, learning about his superiority as a pureblood and the inferiority of women. He accepted that he would have to marry Agathe, though it was a common practice for the man to take mistresses on the side if he was not satisfied by his wife. At first, he got along with Agathe enough that he did not feel that this would be necessary.

But as their marriage progressed, he got more bored of her. They had gotten married very soon after graduating from Durmstrang, but she had not yet provided him with any children. They had trouble getting pregnant for many years, but finally they did have one son, Klaus. Jarl was glad to have gotten a son out of this marriage, because he knew now that he had no more reason to spent all that much time with his wife, as he had several mistresses at that point after more than ten years of marriage.

He left the raising of their child to Agathe, since that was her job as the woman as well as keeping their house together. However, he obviously was around to teach Klaus what he needed to know about the world, ensuring that he was brought up the right way. He was glad to see it went successfully, though he was often very busy with work to know too much of what was going on in his son's life, only being there for what was really necessary. When it came time to think about who his son would marry, he suggested Klaus's now late wife and knew that his son had been raised the right way when he accepted this arrangement.

He was obviously not pleased when his daughter-in-law died, but he didn't really care too much about it since she had provided his son with a son of his own. Now that he knew that the Arnesen line would continue with a pure heir, he knew that he could let his son figure out what he was going to do from there. Of course, he did not think that his son would go off and marry a halfblood, but he understands the draw in match and since the line will continued pure, it does not make much difference to him at this point.

Roleplay Sample

Klaus stepped into the Atrium of the Ministry, his eyes sweeping around to see if there was absolutely anyone even worth his time in the room. He scoffed at the thought, knowing that there would never be anyone, in nearly the entirety of the Ministry, that he would ever waste his time talking to. Sometimes he did wonder how he could even bother to work at the place, when it was the very body of power in this region that despised purebloods for their asinine reasons. How could a country fall so far from the perfection they had nearly been reaching under the reign of the Dark Lord? Yes, the man had been a halfblood, which was unfortunate, but his ideals had all but made up for his blood status. Wanting to rid the magical world of the mudbloods and the blood traitors that dirtied their streets with their filth was one of the few worthwhile missions that there were.

He moved smoothly through the room, not bothering to move for anyone in his path. Surely, they would know to get out of his way, or, at the very least, they would if they were wise. Although he disliked having to work at the very place that held beliefs so different than his own, he did know that it had to be done. After all, it was also the ideal way to take trips back to Norway on occasion. He also found it very important to stay around the Ministry in order to hear what ridiculous plans they were cooking up, as he really did hope that the Death Eaters would rise up against the Minister soon and take back the positions that they deserved. It was only a matter of time, he knew, until that very spectacular day would arrive.
