It was a family day out or so it should have been. Cordelia's dad was out of the country following a lead on a current story he was writing, so the rest of the Zennor house was heading into London for some shopping after they have visited Grandpa P. It had taken Cordelia far too long to get ready her mother thought. But it was different going into London than the local shops in Chester. She was finally ready with a black blazer, stripy long dress top and flat boots with her normal assortment of jewellery. Her mum was complaining as normal at the time it took her to get ready. There was only herself, her mum and Dustin heading from home they would be meeting the older two at the hospital. Traveling by floo network always made her feel a little sick, she preferred to have been going by broom but her mum was afraid of heights so that is always out of the question. All assembling in the kitchen her mum went first and Cordelia and Dustin followed in the floo network.

Arriving in London was always fun. She smiled as she saw her mum and walked over but she saw the usual stars when she stopped as they waited for the oldest 2 Zennors. The floo network was not the best thing for Cordelia. Grandpa P did not know who they were except from their mum. So the visit went the same as always, but he was family so they visited anyway. Toby had to get back to work and they said their goodbyes as they left the ward but Camdon was free so he was off shopping with the rest of the family. They headed off to the only place they liked to go the Leaky Cauldron. Cordelia loved the old pub themed and how dull and quirky it was. Plus being around people like themselves was always nice, she never felt like this unless she was at school. Like she did not have to double think before she said or did anything. It was a good feeling.

Cordelia's mum headed for a table but Camdon had already got a few people's attention through being a up and coming Quiditch player. It did not help that he had rather good looks with his wind swept hair and his high cheek bones, she could see why he was a heart stopper. She just rolled her eyes and let him get on with it. Cordelia was itching to go and have a look round the shops she knew there was never a lot of time that they came to London to do shopping so she did not want to waste any time. She wanted to look for a few new books she had been wanting to help her learn to speak with the mermaids. She wished she could be one but that was never going to happen. "Mum I'm going to be going down Diagon Alley can I meet you there most likely the book shop?... please?" Her mum agreed and she smiled and went bounding off in the direction of the entrance way to the alley. Not really paying attention to anyone around her.

Having just returned from Hogwarts for the summer, the Hufflepuff and his father left King’s Cross station and headed into the area around charring cross road, close where Diagon Alley was situated. They would be staying in a Muggle hotel tonight before catching the train down to Southampton, their home city. Part of Caleb couldn’t wait to get home and see the rest of his family and get reacquainted with his own bed again but the other part of him hated being so far away from Ruby, luckily being 17 he could apparate to London whenever he wanted to see her not that they were dating or anything, well not yet anyhow.

He and his father had agreed to meet in a restaurant close to their hotel before heading there. Coming to London every summer since he had started at Hogwarts Caleb was very familiar with this part of the city, his father could rely on him not getting lost at least. The boy had to go into Diagon Alley to exchange his magical money for the muggle kind. This was another familiar task for him. Though, he was never quite sure of the Goblins that worked at Gringott’s. His first trip into the bank they had inevitably freaked him out. If he were to tell Ruby that, her was certain she would burst into laughter, which he didn’t mind actually, Caleb would rather make her laugh considering what she had gone through the last few months. Right now he didn’t have time to dwell on that. He stepped out of the bank and stuffed the Muggle money into his wallet and made his way towards the Leaky Cauldron to go back to Muggle London.

The place was packed today but he had kind of expected that since school had just let out for the summer. He passed by Flourish and Blotts, he would be starting his summer job there after a quick trip home that is. He just hoped he didn’t splinch himself on the way up here or on his way home from work. But then again Kiki was right that’s how he had earned his license by showing the instructor that he was able to travel between places keeping his whole body intact.

Coming up to the entrance to the pub he was distracted by all the thoughts in his head, namely the pretty redhead that occupied many of them causing him to walk into someone. “Oh Fuck!” Caleb cursed. “I’m sorry about that” he apologised quickly as he looked down at the girl, whom he recognised as being in his year at school. What was her name? the boy racked his brain. Unfortunately it didn’t come to him, serves him right he rarely spoke to anyone outside of Hufflepuff save for a handful of people.

Cordelia was in her own world making a list of books she was going to try and find in the book shop. She was not a geek or anything but she was really interested and wanted to learn Mermish so she would be doing extra work over the summer. When she went up to the tree house or to her grandmother's beach house.  But then she knew she would be swimming and enjoying the sun when they went to see her. She sighed and looked up as she made her way through the people to get to the shops. She was so happy that it was summer and she could go on adventures without getting into trouble and detentions for being in places she shouldn't be or out of bed at the wrong times. Whilst all this was going through her head she got bumped into and it made her stumble back. "Bloody Hell," she said without thinking and looked at the person that was now apologising. She wished she could control her mouth sometimes or at least have a brain that linked to it half the time. It was a boy about her age and all she saw was the blond hair at first and thought oohh pants it was her crush, could she embarrass herself even more? At the thought she went a little red then her eyes focused on his face and a wave of relief ran over her, it was not him. Breathing out she said, "Hey it's okay, I was in a world of my own and should have been looking where I was going." She said with a smile on her face.

Cordelia could have gotten herself into a pickle there and embarrassed herself big time when she wanted to be cool around her crush she was just happy this was not him. She did recognise his face and he must have gone to Hogwarts. It was not surprising to see another student here they had just broken up for the summer so it made sense. "I know this may be a bit of a silly question but you go to Hogwarts right?" She asked if she did not it would have annoyed her all summer till she could check when they went back. He looked around her age so it was possible, that or another magical school. There was people coming in and out around them so Cordelia step aside so people would not be bumping into them as they tried to get past. This made her get closer to the new person she did not know, was this a little forward she thought. Flirting was never her fortay and she never really did it. You could say she was a bad girl then. "I'm Cordelia by the way."

Caleb was clumsy that was an easy fact to discover. He had told Ruby that and in return he had promised her that he would pick her up whenever she fell. Heck he would probably pick her up if she fell or was upset about anything really. Of course that’s what friends did the boy reminded himself. However, he had made up his mind that his feelings for the redhead went past that of ‘just friends’ to something more. Maybe the next time he saw her he would ask her out. Caleb hoped he saw her soon, he was missing her. She was pretty, funny and witty, how could anyone not like that? It was like a perfect combination of traits in his mind, be that as friends or more. The boy made a mental note to owl her, oh crap but did he have her address? He have may scribbled it on the inside cover of his magical creatures textbook since that was the book he had with him when he had first met her. He made a second mental note to be careful on what he wrote in the note just in case it was intercepted by Ezekiel. Damn! He would have to meet up with the Gryffindor too, that wouldn’t be an easy conversation. Holy Hufflepuff Caleb! When did your life get so complicated dude? He asked himself. The blonde refocused on the task at hand, which was that the girl that he had bumped into was now speaking. “It seems now with summer upon us everyone has a lot on their mind” he chuckled nervously. Caleb cleared his throat to calm his nerves and smiled back at the girl.

The girl did look familiar, but he couldn’t get her name if his life depended on it. Thankful it wasn’t such a drastic situation. Maybe if such a thing as ‘new school resolutions’ existed he would make one of them talking to people from other houses. It really was necessary in his opinion. Caleb made a third mental note to discuss with Kiki when he saw his best friend next. All these mental notes was getting out of hand but it wasn’t like he could write them down, he didn’t have paper or parchment on him but he did have a pen. But he didn’t really like writing things on his hand. So for now he would have to trust his memory with all these notes. “I do yes, I thought I had seen you there” the boy smiled back, keeping things friendly. Of course Hufflepuffs weren't’ friendly all the time, they could be bitches or pratesque just as any other student at Hogwarts. When she moved closer to him to allow people to pass Caleb took two steps back to give her space. He may be a teenage boy but he was also a gentleman. “Nice to meet you Cordelia, I’m Caleb” he introduced himself to the brunette. This really was such an awkward place to meet someone you went to school with Caleb told himself.
