James walked down the packed street of Diagon Alley.  It was the first chance he had to escape the confines of the hospital since returning to his homeland.  He needed to stock up on supplies for the future school year.  It had been years since he had been year and yet everything felt the same.  True, he didn't recognize anyone, but the shops were just as he had remembered from visiting the street as a child for school supplies with his mother.

As he went he couldn't help but smile as he came upon the familiar ice cream parlor.  He hadn't been inside in years and wasn't intending to stop this trip, but he couldn't stop his feet from carrying him inside, settling at the back of the line.  As he waited and he shook his head as the memories flooded him.  His mother had always made sure to take him here after their yearly shopping trip.  Now his life seemed to be far more complicated.  James had just returned from the United States to help care for his father.  His long term girlfriend had left him, citing the stereotypical reason that long distance relationships don't work.

So here he was, waiting in line for ice cream, lost in his own thoughts.
