Character History:

Cecilia's childhood was always a bit tumultuous, simply because her father was working off his crimes and his anger was growing about the situation which always caused a lot of tension at home. However, she and her mother always tried to make the best of it, and there were times that her father was not outwardly angry and those times were almost normal, albeit rare.

She was looking forward to going to Hogwarts, as it is clearly something that everyone who grew up in a magical home was anxious for. However, it was incredibly upsetting to her to find out near the end of her first year that her father had left, as she had no idea why or what had happened. As she had not been able to even say goodbye from him, she was very impacted by this. This was the time that her relationship with her mother began to change as well, since her mother blamed herself for the loss as she thought she had driven her husband away by not being good enough. Because of this, she began to stress the importance of a woman being as perfect as possible for her husband, and reflected these values onto her daughter. This opinion only continued to grow as Oriana met and married Klaus, a man who thought that the woman's place was in the home serving her husband.

Although Cecilia has always rejected and continues to reject this idea, she has for the most part given up on trying to convince her mother of this or her stepfather. She has learned to forgive her father for leaving her, though she is still adamantly against Death Eaters for destroying her family. Near the end of her sixth year at Hogwarts, she began to receive letters from her father again, attempting to get back into the picture a bit, and Cecilia has received a letter a week from him since the middle of March.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Cecilia understands that Death Eaters needed to be punished for their part in the war, but she thinks that the situation has escalated out of control. Her father was a Death Eater, and even abandoned her family, and she has managed to forgive him for that, and she doesn't understand why the majority of the Wizarding world refuses to even attempt to move on, and instead they just want to fester in their anger on the misdeeds of the past.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? As Cecilia was not born until after Voldemort's defeat, she was not greatly impacted by his reign. However, her parents certainly were. Because Oriana eventually married Gregory, even if it was after Cecilia was born, she was impacted by his trial and his punishment by the Wizarding world. It wasn't easy on her to see him continuing to have to do hard labor for his crimes, especially as his anger continued to grow about the situation. Gregory was clearly incredibly impacted by Voldemort's defeat, as he was put on trial for the minor parts he played, particularly the willing torture he'd performed on students at Hogwarts. Though his opinions of Mudbloods has never died down, he was forced to work to pay back the Wizarding World for his 'crimes,' and his anger and hatred has only continued to grow.

Family History:

Oriana Hill is a halfblood, though her family has been magical for many generations, it was sprouted from a Muggle family at first. However, her family was relatively involved in the Dark Arts, and her father and mother were both involved as Death Eaters during Voldemort's first reign. It was because of that that they were in the circle of former Slytherins that all knew each other, so when she began Hogwarts in 1991, she already knew Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, and a majority of the other Slytherins. Because of her charismatic and manipulative personality, she was able to make a lot of friends, but was also able to have a relatively uneventful time at Hogwarts, keeping her hands clean of most of the drama that the Slytherins made with Harry Potter and his friends, even if she watched with amusement. When Snape took over the school after her sixth year, she didn't particularly care, and for the most part was fine with the teachings of Alecto and Amycus Carrow, though she did not go out of her way to cause harm to people like her friends did.

Before the final battle, Oriana had a one-night stand with Gregory Goyle, causing her to get pregnant. She and Goyle married in 2000, though he was sentenced to several years of hard labor for his willingness to torture students and his attempts to kill Potter, Granger, and Weasley in the Room of Requirement. They remained married until 2010, after Cecilia's first year of Hogwarts, where he left the family without much word about it. Oriana blamed herself for this, thinking that she pushed him away by not being good enough for him, causing her to realize the importance of being as perfect as possible for her next husband. It was nearing the end of the summer when Cecilia and Oriana were taking a trip to Norway that Oriana met Klaus Arnesen, a Norwegian pureblood. Oriana extended their trip in order to get to know him better, to the point that Cecilia had to return to England by herself to head back to Hogwarts. The pair married in the beginning of 2011. Klaus had a son in a previous marriage, though his wife died in childbirth, and Lars went to Beauxbatons. He moved to England after he had finished his schooling, and still lives in the family home.

Although Gregory was not a huge part in the Death Eater cause, he was well on his way to being. After he attempted to kill Potter, Weasley, and Granger in the Room of Requirement, and lost his friend Vincent in the process, Gregory was sure that the Dark Lord would be victorious. However, upon his defeat, he found himself on trial for his minor part in the cause, and was sentenced to an unfair amount of hard labor (in his opinion). Although this did mean his freedom and avoiding Azkaban, he found his anger mounting as the treatment of the Death Eaters continued to diminish, especially since his opinions of mudbloods did not change. When he heard about whisperings from others about Miles Brant's rebellion, he left his family to serve the greater good, ready to bring the Death Eaters back to their former glory and get back at everyone in the Magical world for what he had to endure for his supposed 'crimes.'
