Colemet Milinia
21 - Female - Halfblood - 03/21/1994

Magical Naturalist

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Colemet, a young woman aged 21 years, is classically thought to be pretty, having a soft and quaint beauty that the right people know how to admire. She has pale skin and a heart shaped face, constantly caught in an expression of wonder and intrigue, though she also has a beautiful smile. She is pale, tall, and slender, and her wavy auburn hair is long and flowing.

Against her pale skin, Colemet has two long, prominent ragged scars, one on her right shoulder, extending from her shoulder blade to her mid back, and the other scrawled down the back of her right arm. These scars are leftover from a werewolf attack at the age of thirteen, and she does her best to hide them from plain view.

Colemet's most noticeable feature, though, lies in her piercing blue eyes. Bright and bold, her eyes are captivating and one of the first things a person notices when they see her.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Weaknesses: Healers (intense fear stemmed from childhood), Helplessness (when she feels helpless), Often Mistrusting Others
Positive Personality Traits: Calm, Serene, Intelligent, Compassionate, Creative, Clever, Curious, Trustworthy
Negative Personality Traits: Short Temper, Occasionally Aggressive, Cruel (due to her lupine tendencies), Cynical, Mistrustful, Sometimes Distant (in an effort to protect herself and those around her)

Character History:
Colemet Milinia is a halfblood born to Jonathan and Emma Milinia in Godric's Hallow on 21 March, 1994. The only daughter from a family of three children, Colemet is the middle child between two boys. Her brothers are Peter Milinia, her older brother of twenty-four, and Andrew Milinia, her younger brother of twenty.

Colemet is a free spirit and has become rather tough over the years growing up with two brothers. She spent much of her childhood outdoors, constantly fascinated by nature. Most of her early magical skills were expressed in the outdoors, demonstrating control over water and making flowers bloom. She spent much time enjoying campfires with her family and playing Quidditch with her brothers in her youth.

Colemet's family lived often in isolation from most other people, magical folk and Muggles alike. While they did have their friends in the wizarding world, Matilda spent much of her childhood with her brothers as her only friends. When she was five years old, Colemet was hit with a wayward bit of magic that was accidentally expelled from her older brother in his youth. Her parents immediately took her to St. Mungo's, but Colemet's memory of the pain and the horrible pain of healing process for the unknown and wayward magic left her with an intense fear of Healers, as well as a deep mistrust of people in general coupled with her lonely childhood.

When Colemet was 11 years old, she was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was sorted into Ravenclaw House. Her favorite subjects included Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Charms. This spawned her eventual interest and skill in Dueling and influenced her future career as a Magical Naturalist.

When Colemet was thirteen, she and her family were taking a hike through the woods during winter holidays. Night eventually fell as they made their way back to their starting point, and as they did, they were attacked by a werewolf who had its monthly change. Her mother and brothers survived the incident unscathed, but her father was bitten and she herself was badly scratched. Her father was transformed into a werewolf, while Colemet was left with many lupine tendencies, including aggression, a short temper, and other side effects.

The traumatic experience left Colemet even more mistrustful than before, expending much energy hiding her scars and attempting to conceal the true nature of her lupine tendencies. Her werewolf traits occasionally controlled her, causing her to be cruel and aggressive towards the people near her, but she tried to cope as much as possible in order to keep herself under control. Her father never registered himself with the Ministry and Colemet never placed herself on the watch list for her tendencies due to the discrimination that they would face from the wizarding world. She became distant, wary of becoming too close to people in fear of hurting them and losing them if they couldn't understand or accept the way she was. She eventually transformed into a mystery to most, an enigma. The only people she truly trusted were her brothers and close friends, who did their best to help her cope with her new problems, both at Hogwarts and at home, as well as their father.

Despite these circumstances, Colemet remained compassionate, calm, and friendly as much as she could to everyone around her. She accepted the new facets of her personality despite her hatred of them and always kept a level mindset about her situation. Colemet found solstice in the amazing world around her, traveling and trying to figure out its secrets and mysterious ways, about nature, life, and happiness. She was constantly curious, and her love of learning and creativity that sorted her into Ravenclaw never ended. She excelled at her profession of Magical Natrualism, and eventually used her skills and knowledge to start concocting Wolfsbane Potion for her father.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Colemet is slightly resentful of the poor treatment of the Death Eaters, despite the havoc they brought upon her family. She is compassionate but also just. She believes that the Death Eaters should be given a fair chance to prove themselves worthy of societal reentry, and if they fail to do so or revert back to their former ways, they should receive deserving punishment. However, she believes that their current treatment is unfair and unjust, as it asserts that those punishing them now are no better than the way the Death Eaters themselves were at one point.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Colemet's family greatly affected by Voldemort's rise to power. Colemet and her brothers had just been born when Voldemort came to full power. Her father, a pureblood, and her mother, a Muddle-born, were forced into desperate hiding with their children due to their status as blood-traitors and Emma Milinia's failure to register as a Muggle-born and be held for trial. Jonathan Milinia's brother, Samuel, was killed by Death Eaters because of his blood traitor status, which left Jonathan deeply hurt by the loss. When Harry Potter killed Voldemort in 1998, their family was able to return to Godric's Hallow.

Family History:
Jonathan Milinia is a pureblood wizard aged forty-five. He comes from a pureblood line that has descended for many generations, though blood purity was never important to the family and they were therefore deemed as blood traitors. His brother was killed during the Second Wizarding War. Jonathan Milinia is a handsome man, almost rugged looking with a goatee. He is very kind, good-natured, and reliable. He's a free spirit, much like his daughter, and finds the world to be a wonderous curiosity. When he was turned into a werewolf after being attacked, he stayed resolved to his true nature, remaining optomistic and kind throughout the whole process. He cares deeply for his wife and children and holds nothing of higher importance. Jonathan works as an Obliviator for the Ministry of Magic and has become very skilled at hiding his lupine nature.

Emma Milinia is the mother of Colemet, Peter, and Andrew Milinia. She is a Muggle-born witch with the maiden name of Smith. She was forced into hiding during the Second Wizarding War with her husband and three children. Emma is a kind-hearted, soft-spoken woman who loves her husband and children more than anything. She was unfazed when her husband was turned into a werewolf and when her daughter was cursed with lupine tendencies; never did she consider leaving them and she continued loving them just as deeply. Emma is a shop-keeper in Diagon Alley for magical herbal creations and supplies, a passion that is shared by her daughter.

Peter Milinia is a halfblood wizard aged twenty-four. He is the oldest of the three Milinia children and is therefore the most disciplined and serious. He cares very much for his family and is very protective of them. He is very close with his sister, Colemet, and has helped her through her lupine struggles, being one of the only people who can calm her down and help her control it. This also partially inspired him to become a Healer at St. Mungo's, as he wanted to be able to help Colemet despite her fears.

Andrew Milinia is the youngest son of the Milinia family, aged twenty. Unlike his older brother, he is much more carefree and easy going. He is fiercely loyal to his family, friends, and justice. He is very close with his siblings and makes it a point to help his father as much as h can through his werewolf struggles. Andrew is training to become an Obliviator like his father.

Colemet was walking down the streets of Diagon Alley in the afternoon. The day was relatively mild but dreary, as gray clouds hung in the air, threatening possible rain at any moment. She was walking alongside her brother, Peter, who had his hands in his pockets as he tried to implore with his sister.

"Please, Colemet?" he said to her. "Let me just this once."

"I don't want to, Peter," she replied to him, a resolve in her voice. She looked straight ahead as she spoke, knowing she couldn't stand the look of disappointment on Peter's face. "You know how I feel about Healers and all that."

"I'm not just any Healer, Colemet, I'm your brother," he countered. "You know I'd never hurt you. Besides..." He looked around and lowered his voice. "You've been getting more and more aggressive as the week has gone on, and it's getting closer to the full moon. Sometimes applying the scratch treatment to the scars near the full moon lessens the symptoms. You should let me have a look at those scars."

Colemet winced. If there were two things she hated, it was certainly people looking at her scars, and Healers. And here her brother was combining both of those things at his request to look at them and make sure they were all right. She never resented her brother for becoming a Healer; in fact, it almost made her feel better knowing that if she had an ailment, she wasn't entrusting her health or treatment to a stranger. Still, given the circumstances, it didn't make the process much easier.

"I...I don't know," Colemet said quietly. There was a hint of true fear in her voice at the thought. "It just gets me really...shaken."

Peter looked at her sympathetically. "I know," he said. "But it might be for the best."

Colemet sighed. This was difficult for her... She knew Peter meant well, that he wanted to help her, but it was still entirely intimidating to her. She wished it could be different, but she knew that this was the way it was. She was accepting of that, and she wasn't going to let it drag her down. She had too much to live for, too much to do and be happy about. She wouldn't have it.

"I'll think about it," she finally conceded.

Peter smiled. "That's all I ask," he said simply, then dropping the subject in an effort not to press on it more for the moment. He nodded ahead. "Now, let's go to Mum's shop. I heard she bought a ton of Cauldron Cakes because she knew we were coming."

Colemet grinned, and her and her brother ran like children to their mother's shop. In that moment, Colemet felt happy and free, and she was sure that she loved nothing more than she loved her family.

Welcome, Jenna! Thank you for joining Insurrection!
We are happy to have you with us! Your application is absolutely AMAZING! Love it. Just love it. There is just one small thing. before we can sort her! This is located here if you want your character to be a Legilimens or Occlumens.

Legilimency/Occlumency are considered to be extra abilities on this site, which means that 1) there is a separate registration for them that you will have to complete after being accepted in order for her to actually have the abilities, and 2) these are both hard skills to learn. If you are stating that she has these skills at this age, it needs to be brought up in her character history how and why she learned this.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to PM one of the site Admins.
