General Appearance: Odessa always walks with her shoulders straight and her chin parallel to the ground, the proper walk of a lady as she had been taught. When sitting, her back is never slouched and this is from years of training from her mother. Her eyes are friendly, though that’s only to protect herself from anyone knowing what’s really going on in her head. Though, when she's actually angry, she has a habit of cracking her knuckles on her right fist.

Character History:

It was a surprisingly warm day in December, not a flake in sight, when Odessa was born in a musty pub on a beaten up couch to Genevieve Duncanson. When registering Odessa, Genevieve decided to change her last name, making them both Cunningham’s, a name she had seen in the paper when breezing through during her twenty-two hours of labor. The young girl was an “accident” baby, conceived while the mother was still young, born a month earlier than expected. Des grew up with only her mother and her uncle Josh, never knowing that they even had other siblings as the pair never spoke of then. She also never knew who her father was as her mother never talked about the man, either changing the subject when he was brought up or simply stating that he was someone that would have brought them down with his false beliefs.

Des was allowed to play with the other children, though her mother was intentional in teaching her the viewpoint that she needed to have in order to be successful. The girl was taught about blood purity and the destruction that mudbloods were bringing on their kind. The training techniques that she had to go through weren’t exactly the easiest, but it was effective, to say the least. For the most part, Des’ childhood was overlooked, not the focal point of growing up as playing was something for children who didn’t know their place in this world. Her magic showed early in life, as was basically forced on her by her mother. When Des was three years old, her mother tossed her in the middle of a large pool and told her to get out by herself. Panicking, Odessa apparated out of the water…though, it took nearly ten hours for Genevieve and Josh to find where she went, finding Odessa back in the pub that she was born in.

When Odessa was 13, she had been home alone when she found a box filled with old memorabilia such as letters and photos of her mother’s past. Not wanting to take the box outright for fear that her mother would move it, Odessa snuck into that area whenever her mother was away at work and sorted through the material, curious for gaining further insight into what her mother wasn’t telling her. After her continual search, Odessa pieced together that her mother and Joshua had other siblings, though Odessa never confronted her about it. Along with this, she had discovered letters from a man that might be her father, though she couldn’t find enough information to determine who he was. With this newly discovered information, Odessa has been studying and looking for more discovered, waiting until the opportune moment to utilize the gained knowledge to her benefit.

At Hogwarts, Odessa takes much after her mother in that she protects herself from people realizing what she truly believes and thinks. She joined a few clubs at Hogwarts, mainly because it was what her mother had strongly advised her to do. As trained, Odessa much prefers to be the person that people are expecting, as opposed to who she truly is for the sake of the eventual cause. Despite the front she usually places forward, she often questions everything, coming from both sides to appear more neutral.

Her best friend is her mother, and there is no one that is more important to her than the woman she looks up to. It doesn’t matter all that much to Odessa that they don’t live in luxury, though she certainly dresses as if they do as they would rather look the part than actually be the part.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? As she was taught, Odessa sees that death eaters are treated incorrectly, a treatment meant for mudbloods and their filthy kind. Death eaters know what’s best for this world but the world is just too stubborn to accept the correction.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Odessa’s mother was a full supporter of Voldemort as with the rest of her family, but the death of Voldemort seemed to affect her family, though her mother never told her how.

Family History:

Genevieve was the third child of four, born to parents that were supporters of Voldemort. At first, she had been avoided by her father as she had been a girl, though he quickly got over that and saw the use that she would have. The girl became more cold and callous than her brothers, training extra hard to make her father proud. Secrecy had always been a part of the Duncanson line, not wanting anyone to be able to associate them with Death Eaters in order to protect their name for future problems. As self-taught, she quickly made friends and dated, as the other girls of her age. Her on-again-off-again boyfriend had been Micah Blackwood, a Ravenclaw. Although Genevieve had liked him at first, emotions was something she was training herself to not be focused on, thus turning to looking at the relationship as nothing more than a means to an end of manipulating more people.

During her last year at Hogwarts, Micah had gotten her pregnant though Genevieve hadn’t known until after graduation, opting to not inform him of such as she knew he would want to be in their daughter’s life. This was unacceptable due to his wrongful beliefs and ultimately, Genevieve needed to protect her daughter from the filthy thoughts.

Micah was one of four boys born to Michael and Andrea Blackwood. They had grown up on a farm in Scotland, something that Micah had been passionate about. After graduating, the family relocated to Russia due to a farming possibility that they couldn’t pass up. Seeing as Micah and Genevieve had broken up again, he decided to go to Russia, writing letters to his ex during the first few months. After no response, he moved on with his life, meeting Nola. Shortly, Nola was found to be pregnant with their first child. Wanting to be a part of their son’s life, he quickly married the woman before their second child came around. In 2006, he and Nola went through a nasty divorce after she cheated on him, though they share custody. Both of their children are currently attending Durmstrang Institute and Micah still has no idea that his “Hogwarts Sweetheart” had his first child, Odessa.
