Those two words are some of the most common ones used to describe Amelia, by those who doesn't know her well. To be fair, that's the appearance she works at.
Though not especially clever, Amelia figures it's easier to swim with the tide than against it-- whatever said tide might be. A child of two parents who couldn't be more different, she sticks to whatever side of her heritage that might be more beneficial at the time.
