Gregory Edward Goyle
35 - Male - Pureblood - 08/17/1980

Owner of The Lucky Strike

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Gregory just kind of lumbers along. He is a slow walker, but is confident in his movements. When he is nervous, he clenches his fists or holds one fist with his other hand. It would be relatively easy for someone to take a Polyjuice Potion and portray him (though not as easy as it was for Harry in 2nd year, wait what?) simply because of his more stoic personality--he doesn't talk all that much, preferring to listen. This would make it easy because a person wouldn't even have to talk much and it would be normal. Gregory is 6'0" and muscular. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Skills: The Dark Arts, anything involving the use of muscle (he was a great lackey for many years, after all..), activities with the rebellion
Weaknesses: As much as he would hate to admit it and probably wouldn't, his daughter is one of his weaknesses, and his ex-wife still is too to an extent, even though he had heard of her very quickly getting remarried. He also is not good at anything involving book smarts.
Positive Personality Traits: Dedicated to the cause, firm, loyal, patient, resourceful, strong
Negative Personality Traits: Aggressive, strict, arrogant, destructive, impractical, vengeful, quick to anger, disorganized,
Hobbies and Interests: Quidditch, though most of his interests at this point revolve around Miles Brant's rebellion and getting revenge on the Wizarding World
Character History:
Gregory Goyle started Hogwarts in the year 1991 and was sorted into Slytherin House. Almost immediately he became the ‘friend’ (sidekick, lackey, etc.) of Draco Malfoy and Vincent Crabbe. The pair spent most of their first year antagonizing the Gryffindors. Second year led to the Chamber of Secrets being open, and it was in this year that ate some cauldron cakes and woke up in a closet (how odd). In general, Gregory spent a lot of time with Draco and Vincent annoying Potter, Weasley, and Granger whenever possible. In their third year, they dressed up like Dementors during a Quidditch game, in their fourth year they passed out ‘Potter Stinks’ badges during the Triwizard Tournament. Fifth year brought Dolores Umbridge to the school, and Gregory ended up joining the Inquisitorial Squad and catching Dumbledore’s Army in the Room of Requirement. This was also the year that Goyle joined the Slytherin Quidditch team as a beater.

In his seventh year, he was a more favored student by Alecto and Amycus Carrow, and was able to excel in the new Dark Arts class. Although many Slytherins attempted to flee the school after Harry arrived, Gregory attempted to ambush Potter, Granger, and Weasley in the Room of Requirement. It was there that his friend Vincent lost his life when his Fiendfyre grew out of control, and Gregory was saved by Ron and Hermione, flown out on brooms.

After the war, Gregory was put on trial, as he was a willing participant in the torture of innocent students, as well as all too willingly ambushing the trio in the Room of Requirement. That, amongst his other activities throughout the year, was enough for him to be deemed guilty by the Ministry, and years of hard labor would follow. It was in 2011 that he began to hear whisperings of Miles Brant’s rebellion. Since his anger had been only mounting over the years as he was treated with more and more disrespect in the Wizarding World, it was an incredibly easy decision to do this. He has been working with Brant ever since, wanting the Death Eaters to be brought back to their former glory.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? As he got to experience this firsthand, as well as his family, he has gotten incredibly angry over the years. His short temper has not helped this, causing his frustration to only heighten. He left the first chance he could after hearing about Miles Brant, and is glad to get his revenge on the Wizarding world.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? They were affected by his reign only by means of being actively apart of it. Both Gregory and his father were supportive of doing anything they could for the cause, even though Gregory was still in Hogwarts. He knew that he would do anything to support the cause, but upon his death the family was greatly impacted. Gregory's mother was incredibly stressed by the trials, and both Goyle males were found guilty and sentenced to hard labor, which clearly was a great impact of Voldemort's death.

Family History:
Gideon and Loretta met at Hogwarts, both in Slytherin House. Gideon joined the Death Eaters, fully agreeing with the Dark Lord’s views on blood purity. He participated in the First Wizarding War and was able to avoid Azkaban after Voldemort’s ‘death’ by convincing the Ministry that he had been under the Imperius Curse. He did not look for the Dark Lord in his absence, and was called to the graveyard in Little Hangleton in 1995 when Voldemort. He was forgiven for not searching for him and continued his work as a Death Eater. However, after the fall of Voldemort in 1998, he was unable to use that as an excuse any longer, as the Ministry really didn’t accept many claims of being under the Imperius Curse this go-around. Due to his extensive work with the Death Eaters in both wars, he was sentenced to a hefty amount of punishment including heavy labor, but he did avoid Azkaban.

Loretta was never too involved in the Death Eater cause, but was content with her husband’s part with the Dark Lord and the Death Eaters, as she was a fervent believer in blood purity. She was scared, however, that her husband would be put in Azkaban after the Dark Lord was defeated in 1981, and was incredibly relieved when his accuse about the Imperius Curse worked to keep him safe from punishment. When the Dark Lord returned, she was just as excited as many of his followers, hopeful that he would be successful in his mission this go-around. She was happy to see her son getting involved as well, knowing that he would find it just as fruitful. However, his defeat this go around and the subsequent trials took a large mental toll on her. She particularly was not happy to hear that her son had knocked up a halfblood, or that he married her soon after—though she tried to focus on the fact that dirtying the Goyle line was helping him potentially look more redeemable to the public and attempted to at least mildly accept it.

Over the years the stress did get to her as both her husband and son were being unfairly treated with their punishments, and she could scarcely go in public either for being recognized as not only a pureblood but a wife and mother of Death Eaters was hardly anything that helped her. Both her husband and son disappeared to help Mile Brant with his rebellion, something she wholeheartedly supports, though the stress of being alone has left her practically bedridden.
