Dylan Archibald Grier
32 - Male - Halfblood - 08/08/1982

Dragon Keeper

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Dylan is 6'2" and incredibly muscular. He has dark blond hair, always longish and a very distinctive beard. His eyes are a very piercing crystal blue. Dylan walks quite slow, and doesn't have a tendency to rush. He is incredibly confident and charming, so he doesn't tend to have very many nervous habits. He has a very slight but distinctive Scottish accent from the years he had lived there, which would be one of many reasons it would be hard to portray him in Polyjuice form.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Skills: Charming women, anything involving working out is something he excels at, able to make friends very easily, and is very clever. He is very skilled at his work, something that he is quite proud of.
Weaknesses: He has a short fuse and can get angry very quickly. He isn't fantastic at potions. He can't hold down a relationship even if he wanted to. He can come off rude on occasion, but is something that is happening less often.
Positive Personality Traits: Adventurous, athletic, boisterous, captivating, careful, charming (when he wants to be), flirtatious, observant, outspoken, relaxed, strong, uncomplaining (when it comes to helping people he cares about only), unpredictable
Negative Personality Traits: can’t hold his tongue to save his life, comes off arrogant, disruptive, hard to tie down, impulsive, noncommittal, quick to anger, tactless, thinks with his heart not his head, very closed off emotionally, vulgar
Hobbies and Interests: Working out, football, any activities outdoors, drinking, flirting, and any activities that involve large groups since that is where he thrives (for the most part)
Character History:
Dylan was raised by only his mother, and had never met his father. He had three half-siblings from another one of his mother's failed relationships, and was very close with all three of them. It was devastating to the siblings when their mother died on a day that had just seemed like any other. At first, they were very unsure where they were very unsure of where they were going from here--since Dylan was nine, Kyla was five, and the twins were tree. For a time, it had seemed as though they would have to be separated, since Dylan's uncle from the father he had never met had came forward to say that he would take him in.

However, the father of Kyla, Brody, and Trace never came forward and neither did anyone in that family, so Dylan's uncle and wife decided to take them in as well. So they were moved out to Scotland. It was there that he find out more about his father, and found out that he was magical as well, from a Muggleborn family himself. No one had seen him in many years, or had been in contact with him.

Dylan began Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. His charming personality gained him a lot of friends quickly, and it was in his fourth year that he met Luvinia Thorne, a pureblood. They started dating in their fifth year, which was also the year that Snape was in charge of the school. This was a tough year for anyone that was not in agreement with how the school was being run, but they got through it. Luvinia was able to remain under the radar to an extent because she was a pureblood and in Slytherin, but Dylan found himself in trouble almost constantly, refusing to torture students or really even go to their Dark Arts class.

Although he was only a fifth year at the time, he fought in the Battle of Hogwarts and this was where he received many of the scars on his arms from different dark jinxes.

After the battle, it was hard for everything to go back to normal, but they attempted it. He continued dating Luvinia, and they were happy together until they graduated Hogwarts. But unfortunately, times were quickly changing. People's judgments were growing about all purebloods, putting Luvinia in the range of fire. However, she wasn't apart of any of Voldemort's plans and had stayed separate from it even though her father was a Death Eater. They dated for five more years after Hogwarts, traveling a lot to try to keep as far away from the building conflict as possible.

However, in 2006, when they were back in London for a few weeks, problems arose. Only the night before, the pair had been incredibly happy, as Dylan had proposed to her the night before. But the next afternoon, Dylan had been out on a run while Luvinia had done a bit of shopping in Diagon Alley. When he arrived back, he arrived upon a crime scene... there were crowds all around, and Aurors, and that was when he saw Luvinia. She had been killed by pureblood-hating radicals.

He moved back to Scotland, not wanting to be in London for a while. It was only in late 2013 that he finally returned to London. He bounced from job to job, unsure what he wanted to do. It was when he worked at Gringotts and came across one of their dragons that he realized his interest in the magical creatures, and started his career as a Dragon Keeper.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? He understands paying for ones' crimes, but wishes that they would have just been sent to Azkaban. Dylan believes the growing unrest and the amount of angry of the radicals was only expedited by the continued presence of these criminals in public. He thinks that the situation got out of hand, and blames the fact that Luvinia was killed on the fact that this situation had escalated to this point, as he realizes that not every pureblood is a Death Eater and is frustrated that the radicals would just consider them all one and the same.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? The reign of Voldemort caused the family to be a bit more cautious, and was particularly why Ramona took a job in the Muggle world. Being in Hogwarts for the Final Battle, Dylan was particularly affected as he fought there which is not something easy to forget. They were glad for his defeat, feeling as though the wizarding world would finally have some peace, even if it became clear that wouldn't be the case.

Family History:
Cormag and Ramona met when Cormag was 26 and Ramona was 21. Although they both attended Hogwarts, their paths did not cross there, as Cormag was sorted into Gryffindor and Ramona into Ravenclaw. They met at a bar when Ramona was on a trip to Scotland, recognizing nothing but the other's name from their time at Hogwarts. They ended up having a one night stand that resulted in Ramona getting pregnant, though she never did hear from Cormag again.

She returned to London and her job at the Ministry, meeting a man by the name of Kent Aiken. With him she had three more children, Kyla, who came along four years after Dylan had been born, and then twins two more years later. However, that relationship did not last either, as Ramona simply seemed to have a problem (though she deemed it as plain bad luck) finding someone to be with that wasn't a total prick.

Problems were rising with Voldemort gaining power, and because of this she decided to take work in the Muggle World, wanting to avoid as much contact as possible with everything going on there. However, Ramona had been on her way to work one day when she was hit by a bus and killed.

---

Dougal went to Hogwarts as well, two year below his brother and sorted into Ravenclaw as well. He knew Ramona from school, and was appalled by his brother's actions when it came to disappearing from the woman's life and not caring that she was pregnant, however, it was not his place to do much about it. He kept in very cordial contact with Ramona through the years to make sure that his brother's son was alright.

Dougal met Caitrìona through a family friend just before his thirtieth birthday. Caitrìona was a muggle, though obviously that made no difference to Dougal. The pair dated for two years before he proposed and got married. She was very receptive to the idea of magic when he finally told her, and the two had what was considered by their friends and family as a nearly perfect relationship. They had their bickerings like any couple, but they were extremely happy. Sadly enough, they did eventually find out that Caitrìona could not have children.

When news came that Ramona had died, Dougal immediately put plans into affect to take custody of Dylan, as that had been Ramona's wish if anything were to happen to her. When he found out that no one was coming forward to take care of Dylan's half-siblings, he and Caitrìona decided to take them in as well, and they were finally able to have the family they always wanted. They still have not heard from Cormag, and no one even knows if he is dead or alive.
