Tatiana Eva Fowler
36 - Female - Pureblood - 04/04/1979

Unspeakable

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Tatiana has blond hair and blue eyes. She is 5'6", 115lbs, and slender. Tatiana is walks gracefully and quickly, and although she used to like to take the time to really plan out outfits, she will sometimes just throw something together if she is having a stressful day (which is often). Luckily she has an ounce of fashion sense, so even a thrown together outfit normally looks good.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Skills: Able to draw almost anyone into conversation due to her extroversion and good sense of humor. People want to be friends with her normally, because of this. Due to her past, she does not talk at all about herself on a personal level. Because of this, she is fantastic at talking around a question, changing topics casually, and deflection in general. She’s so good at this that normally people do not even realize that they don’t know anything about her. She is also an excellent chef, and an above-average baker, at least. She excels in Potion-making, and is also one of the best Unspeakables in her department. She knows how to lead, and is successful in her job due to her personality helping her dealing with temperamental people at work.
Weaknesses: Although she is good at keeping topics off of herself, she is bad at hiding her emotions on issues. If she is upset, pissed, or happy, anyone with eyes would be able to tell. Another weakness would be her inability to let people in, even though she does not see it as a weakness. She also can get incredibly defensive and irritated if a situation doesn’t go her way. Her mother is one of her weaknesses, as she will drop anything if she needs to go take care of her.
Positive Personality Traits: Active, clear-headed, graceful, honest, intuitive, loyal, persuasive, realistic, talkative, vivacious, warm, witty
Negative Personality Traits: Impatient, indecisive, confidence bordering on cockiness, noncommittal, private, stubborn, unable to hide emotions
Hobbies and Interests: Running, exercise in general, cooking, baking, dueling
Character History:
For many years in her childhood, Tatiana’s life was incredibly average. She loved her parents, her sister, and she was excited to go to Hogwarts. But as she grew up, she could tell that her father was worried that something was wrong, though she didn’t know what and he wouldn’t obviously tell her at her age. Finally, she got to go to Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. It was there that she met Jack Dixon, who was a Gryffindor in her year. Although they were friends all of their years through Hogwarts, the only began dating in their seventh year. He helped her when she found out about her mother’s schizophrenia, as he was the first person she told after finding out about the news.

Her school years were rather dramatic, what with the Triwizard Tournament, and Harry Potter’s claims that Voldemort was back. Even though he was in her house, Tatiana really didn’t spend time thinking too much about if the dark wizard really was back, as she was too focused in on her own issues at home. Finding out that the boy was right, and Dumbledore dying the next year was certainly shocking, and she became incredibly cautious and attempted to keep her sister safe at all costs—since her father was too busy with their mother. The loss of her sister in the Battle of Hogwarts was devastating to her, especially with all of the added stress of taking care of her mother. Her father disappearing only six months later only made the situation worse, putting all of the responsibility of her mother’s care onto her. Luckily, she did have Jack to help her get through these times, and he was far more helpful than she even though she deserved for him to be.

She and Jack never got married, not necessarily feeling the need to go through some formality to make it official when they knew that they had a strong relationship. They dated for many years, both of them working (Jack as an Auror, and Tatiana as an Unspeakable) taking turns watching over Selma. However, in 2006, Jack had to go on an assignment to try to capture a Death Eater that had still been evading capture for all of these years. It was in this mission that he lost his life. This was a blow to Tatiana, as he was the last person she had around that she could really trust and count on. Although she had been practically an open book back at Hogwarts, she was slowly becoming more private in her life, especially after her father left. She really didn’t trust anyone but Jack, and the friends she did have did not know much about her. After Jack died, she decided she had to give up on the concept of being close to people altogether, and so began her skill at being talkative without really talking.

Eventually, as her mother’s condition continued to worsen, Tatiana had to hire a nurse, though she obviously had to be cautious since they were a pureblood family and the nurse was a Muggle. Luckily, anything her mother said just sounded like delusions and hallucinations due to her condition. After mourning her long-term boyfriend for almost two years and caring for her mother, she decided that she at least needed to attempt to get back into the dating world—even artificially, for a distraction. She dated around casually for a few years, which was how she found herself in an awkward situation in 2010 where an ex-boyfriend would not leave her alone. After six months of incidents, stalking, and situations, Tatiana finally contacted the Auror Department, who helped sort out the issue for her. This was not an easy decision for her to make, as she did not like 1) asking for help, or 2) people having a legitimate reason to ask her personal questions—but she was glad when the situation resolved.

She continued her life like this for several more years, the nurse helping her to relieve some of the stress of caring for her mother. Tatiana found herself so busy that she hadn’t even really noticed at first how bad everything was getting as far as the treatment of Death Eaters were concerned. Although she doesn’t necessarily agree with this treatment, she can’t focus on it for more than a few moments without something else taking over her thoughts. It was in late 2014 that she met Ben, and they began dating. It was around this time as well that she was finding herself in a situation quite like the one she’d experienced in 2010, only this ‘admirer’ was anonymous. Even though she knew that Ben was the head of the auror department, she avoided asking for help for several months, and when she finally did require assistance, Tatiana went straight to the Auror Department in hopes that she could resolve the situation without bothering Ben—that completely failed, as he walked out of his office while she was in the middle of explaining the situation to an auror. Ben offered her to stay with him, and although serious moves have been made in this case, it has not yet been solved.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Tatiana knows that a majority of the wizarding world is completely content with how Death Eaters are being treated, and understands why. After all, her boyfriend was killed by a Death Eater, and her sister was killed at the Battle of Hogwarts, so it wasn’t as though she was not personally affected by the actions of people following Voldemort’s cause. At first, she was under the impression that this hard labor as punishment was a good idea—it helped to rebuild the wizarding world, though she was unsure that it was going to work. However, as time has gone on she has realized that really the situations have now just flipped. Death Eaters and purebloods were now being treated like Muggleborns, and she doesn’t think that’s solving anything at all.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? As she was in school only a year above Harry Potter and in the same house, it seemed as though she got to witness the build-up to Voldemort’s reign up close. She remained incredibly cautious and tried to watch out for her sister. Her mother was never lucid enough to know what was going on, really, and her father tried to separate himself from it as much as possible, though they were all relatively safe as purebloods. Tatiana was out of Hogwarts by the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, having graduated the year before. Unfortunately, her sister was not as lucky and did perish on that day. She had been attempting to help get younger students to safety, and was killed by the Killing Curse. This greatly affected Tatiana, and her father. Tatiana felt that this was one of the reasons that her father did eventually end up leaving. Her mother was also affected by the news, but in her own way. Voldemort being defeated was a relief, but it came at a cost like most things, she has realized.

Family History:
Both Walden and Selma were from pureblood families, though from slightly different circles. Selma had been sorted into Slytherin, and Walden into Hufflepuff. Their paths did not cross often at school, at least until they met officially in their fifth year. The pair dated and got engaged immediately upon graduation. They had a normal and happy relationship, really, albeit a bit superficial. They did not normally talk about anything of importance, nor did they really know each other all that well. But they had two children—Tatiana first, and Sarah only two years later.

However, the happiness was relatively short lived. As their children grew up and their marriage progressed, Walden began to realize that something was wrong with Selma. They went to St. Mungo’s on multiple occasions, trying to sort out what it was—but nothing was physically wrong with her. But Walden knew that something was not right, simply because of the way that she was acting. She was more social withdrawn, hostile, suspicious, and depressed. Her gaze was often flat and expressionless, and her sleep patterns were mixed between too much and complete insomnia. It didn’t make any sense at all to him. Finally, after exhausting all options in the magical world, he took her to several Muggle doctors. It was there that Selma was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the age of 32.

Her condition deteriorated quickly over the next few years, though Tatiana and Sarah were both at Hogwarts and didn’t see as much of it. Her delusions and hallucinations began and continued to get worse. With both of his daughters at Hogwarts and having to deal with this by himself, Walden got increasingly stressed as he didn’t know what to do about it. Tatiana moved back home after graduation to help out, and she could easily tell that he was at his wit’s end.

After Sarah died, Walden was even less willing to take care of his wife, leaving the responsibility to his then nineteen-year-old daughter. It was one day in early winter that he went out and never returned.

Selma’s condition has only continued to worsen over the years, and mental conditions are not something that the wizarding world knows too much about when it comes to their healing. Her Muggle medications have been altered, adjusted and tweaked in every way possible and so far nothing has helped. She has had several violent episodes where Tatiana has been injured.
