[attr="class","nuggetwords"]Olya had apparently been stood up for the Valentine's dance, a term that she didn't even recognize until one of the older Slytherins had informed her of it. She had waited like she was supposed to, and had hoped that somebody would show up and say something in horrible English. It was better, though, that she didn't have to sit there and translate the nonsense. She preferred being on her own, anyway. But she thought she might have to send an owl to papa and use that as leverage to go home. She had learned all she needed to at Hogwarts, anyway. She could learn more from books. It was bad enough that they watched her struggle. And now to have to deal with annoying peers?

Olya let out a sigh as she stepped into the Great Hall. She had heard that these things were mandatory last year. She was certainly hoping that they weren't now. Olya was counting on being able to get back to the dorm when she started getting tired. She had a new book to read and English to continue to not learn. As she took a few steps towards the food, she heard a few phrases that she recognized, and she heard a few bad words. It was ironic, to her, that she had learned more swear words than correct grammar. But swear words were more fun, even if she wasn't going to use them.

She stared rather openly at the other students around her, and then went to go look for anyone that she recognized. Quickly, she ducked so that she didn't have to talk to -- the student was rather insistent that the Friar was a good ghost, and Olya didn't trust them. She looked for @luna instead, finding that she was a much more interesting find. She didn't like English, either, and that was something that made a person good in Olya's mind. As long as she could avoid anyone who decided to make her speak, that was fine with her.

Cupid's Got bad aim
Valentine's Day Ball 2019

Oralie played the role of well behaved prefect. She embraced the Headmistress's unity scheme to the best of her abilities. It was imperative to make herself the stand out candidate for Head Girl next year. She would carry on the Slytherin and Slughorn tradition of ascending to that honor.

So, the  witch spent a bit of time with her assigned date, despite her attention wandering to a certain wizard more than once. She smiled, laughed and made small talk. She was her charming self for well over half an hour. That seemed respectable enough. Then, when the opportunity arose--and she'd seen Luna wander away from Karel, Oralie excused herself from Medea's side. The blonde crossed the Great Hall towards the wizard who had been on her mind all evening. Her eyes on him, she took her time. There was no rush to get to his side, particularly when she wanted him to enjoy the view of her approaching.

She had Karel were not officially anything more than friends. But there was unquestionably something there between them. She felt a spark. She felt the magnetism between them. The witch didn't even care that he was a year below her. There was more of an age gap that she really realized, though. She was on the cusp of turning seventeen the next month. But what did it really matter? It was just a number.

When she finally came to a stop in front of the wizard, she gave him a demure smile. "Hi," the simple greeting was full of promises that she didn't dare put to words. It was just a simple word barely breathed off her tongue, but it confessed by his side was where she wanted to be. "You are looking quite handsome this evening, Karel-" Oralie had no aversion to complimenting the wizard. He knew she found him attractive considering the things that they had made a habit of getting up to the last few months.
