Character Name: @delia
Age: 17
Ability: Clairvoyant
Level Requesting: No Levels, but that sh!t is extremely beginner
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Her visions have now assisted her in steering two people away from relatively certain deaths and both by happenstance. Her abilities have always been wonky but they seem to work best under certain stress which makes for fun plots.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? It just sort of...happened? She doesn't know how or why it started happening to her and try as she might to get a hold on it nothing seems to control them.
Any Additional Comments? T'was in her app haha
Have you read the rules? Aye lass
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

Blips. That's what she called them, these little snippets of information that came to her for seemingly no reason at all. She'd been getting a lot of them lately. Smaller ones, mostly. Whenever that happened she knew something larger was always right around the corner and it filled her with dread. The day of the attacks on Diagon Alley had been the first of larger visions. The vision itself was so small but the impact that came of it was insanely large. Delia shivered thinking about what could have happened to her mother. If she'd have never gotten the vision at all... She would be dead. A tingle drove down her spine and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. It was something she didn't like to imagine, something she knew she didn't need to. Her mother was safe. That was all that mattered. What could or could not have happened didn't matter; all that matters is what had happened. She was safe, Delia's vision had made it so. She was grateful for that but it was also frustrating. Twice now her visions had saved the people she cared most about: first her mother, then Jesse. She wished she could hone the skill and use it for her advantage. She couldn't, no matter how hard she tried.

Instead what she got were these bloody blips. All day they had plagued her, these pointless visions of nothingness. Being in the flat alone hadn't made things any better. It just seemed to drive her visions to produce more and she had left to hopefully escape them. It seemed that when she kept her mind busy they were less frequent. Conversations with others, shopping-- Isaiah had even got her interested in sketching lately and it seemed to help-- but nothing would make them leave her, not fully. Her plan had been to outrun them, as stupid as that seemed. She couldn't outrun her mind but if she could go somewhere, find a distraction, then maybe it would help. Madam Puddifoot's seemed a perfect place to do that. It was loud and gaudy, and certainly the tea would help. Tea always helped. Delia had went in and dawdled peacefully drinking from the cup she had ordered. Her mind was quiet and there was a soft murmur of conversation around her. Just when she was beginning to feel relieved another blip came to her, like flipping through the channels of her mind, catching only a short glimpse of what was on. Sorry, could you make it to go. It was a man's voice echoing through her mind, the appearance of him seemed familiar but it was difficult to tell. She could only see him briefly from behind and then-- flip. The channel changed again. Back to reality. Delia's head jerked over to the counter recognizing the patron from her vision. He had entered a short time ago and she'd not paid much attention to him but now-- The gentleman made an apologetic noise, pointing to the cup the woman behind the counter had offered him. "Sorry, could you make it to go?" Delia let out an annoyed sigh, returning her attention to the cup in her hands. Merlin, how she wished she could turn this off.

Okay are we even surprised.

Character Name:
@brennan
Age: 32
Ability: Fire Elemental
Level Requesting: Intermediate (he only started learning around 20ish years old)
Why is this magical ability important to your character? He started learning it while he was at Lig-na-Paiste as a way to protect himself a little more from the flames of the dragons, but also because it's really handy to be able to procure flames when you're trying to tame one. He claims that this is also how he subdued that one Hungarian Horntail that he won't shut up about.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? He started learning from one of his professors at Lig-na-Paiste (for 2 years) and self-taught after he graduated and up until now.
Any Additional Comments? Nah.
Have you read the rules? Si.
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

There was walking into the jaws of a lion, and then there was... this. Hungarian Horntails were notoriously temperamental creatures, but Brennan needed to test out his theory somehow. It seemed a little silly to just send a poor research assistant straight into the cage to see what would happen. He had been training the beast, associating certain behaviours with a distinguishable clicking sound. Theoretically, the Horntail should be subdued by the clicking sound, at this point. Brennan had made sure it was associated with every single act of rest. Sitting, wings tucked away, things like that. Of course, theory and reality were two different things entirely. Pavlovian conditioning was nearly fullproof as far as humans and domesticated animals went, but dragons? That was... well, it was new. It was different, and if it worked he would be going down in history for it. With a deep breath, Brennan took another step closer to the dragon. It shifted, its eyes opened and focused on him, and its initial reaction was what Brennan had anticipated - fire.

The flame was barreling towards him, but all it had taken Brennan was a sweep of his arm to redirect it away from him. The dragon gave him a strange look and backed away for a moment, clearly not having expected that. Brennan raised his had, pressed the little device to make that clicking sound, and... down the Horntail went. Tucking its wings away and setting down with an earth-shaking rumble. Brennan watched it with a proud smile. Sweet Merlin, that was a close one.

Denied

@brennan - sorry, I should have clarified! This is an ability that you are born with, not one that you can learn! You can learn to channel it and control it better over time, and get stronger but it's something that you're born with!

WHOOPS THAT'S MY BAD I WILL ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.

Character Name:
@brennan
Age:
32
Ability:
Fire Elemental
Level Requesting:
Expert (Intermediate is also fine if you think that's a better fit)
Why is this magical ability important to your character?
It is something that has been prevalent in the Kavanagh side of the family. Brennan's mother was a Fire Elemental, his grandfather, a great-great uncle and one of his sisters. As far as he knows.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable?
It's genetic lel. I also just learned this cuz I'm dumb. His mother has been teaching him how to harness it since he was a kid, and he practiced on his own after graduating from Ilvermorny.
Any Additional Comments?
Nooope
Have you read the rules?
NOW I HAVE  (rofl)

Character Name: @skyler
Age: 24
Ability: Empath
Level Requesting: Expert (or Intermediate if you think)
Why is this magical ability important to your character? This ability is what has driven every aspect of Skye's life. The reason why she's an advice columnist, why she steals, why she donates most of her money, why she helps people at expense of herself. She's all about everyone else. Every since Hogwarts, it's just always been who Skye is and was.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Born With It maybe she's maibelene
Any Additional Comments? It's in her app!
Have you read the rules? Yeeees <3
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:
From the earliest memory she can remember, she remembered always feeling... different. How her moods changed at the flick of a switch depending on who she was with and how they were feeling, what was going on, and the everpressing need to try and make it better. Her parents hadn't had an answer for her. Nor had Demi, originally. As time went on she found herself drawn to the ones who were struggling, the ones who felt so much that they were either drowning or felt like they were shutting down, and found that no matter how cheerful she'd been before, she suddenly felt it on her own shoulders. Sometimes as if by accident, if she focused on her cheerfulness, then she would feel a tugging motion and suddenly the upset person would be smiling and shrugging whatever was wrong... of. It scared her yet the fact that people could feel so bad scared her more.

It was in Hogwarts that she really started working at it, she recalls, after finding a book about empaths in the library. Soon she understood how different things like stress and frustration were, or disappointment and depression. Happiness and just being content. And she was able to decipher them when it came to her classmates, which in turn had her amassing a large group of friends that she did her best to try and make better. Pulling people from the outskirts out of their loneliness and into a group that she made sure radiated positivity whenever she could, even if it meant she didn't sleep for four days.

And it was quite by accident when one day, sitting in the Hospital Wing with Jess after the latter had broken her ankle at the missing step in a moving staircase, that while holding her hand tightly and concentrating on trying to push into her some good feelings... that her own seemed to disappear. Jess perked up like a parched flower in water... and she... slumped. In pain. In frustration. And that plagued her for a week until she found another book that described what was going on, and she found how to channel it. Which took another week or so. It meant that her grades slipped a little because she was trying so damn hard to understand and get better so she could help people. Finally she told Demelza... and her sister did her best to support her through it as well.

And now here she was. At twenty four years old, she hadn't even been able to walk past an elderly wizard sitting on his own in the window of a coffee shop after sensing his distress from the outskirts of London and tracking him down, thinking it was perhaps a momentary, situational blip. Here she was, holding his hand over his table while she sat across from him, listening to him telling her about his late husband and how he had always come here with him to share a pot of tea and talk about their lives together and the dreams they'd accomplished. Here she was, trying so hard not to cry as internally her heart shattered and her whole life seemed to spin away in the distraught misery of losing the one closest to her while she made sure to pass on the joyous mood she'd held onto all the way here. Pushing against the endless sea of emotion to find the right current, the right channel, so she could take on his burden and relieve him of it. Even if just for an hour. This much reminded her of Lisa who had written in to the Prophet earlier that week, asking for an alternative to sleeping draughts since her husband had filed for a divorce and she was too chewed up to sleep. Except this person was physical. And while it might floor her for the rest of the day, this person she could help.

So Skye continued to smile at Richard as he talked, her fingers rubbing circles into the back of his hand so subtly that she doubted he even knew. And that smile managed to struggle towards becoming even more genuine as she watched a twinkle slowly return to his eye.

Character Name: @catrine
Age: 42
Ability: Wandless
Level Requesting: Expert
Why is this magical ability important to your character? She has been learning and practicing this since she was 18 to give herself an upper hand in dueling scenarios. And considering she went to school to study Magical Combat, it came up a lot.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Started learning from a professor at Ottenby
Any Additional Comments? Nope
Have you read the rules? Yeeeee
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

He had disarmed her, but she was still on his tail. Catrine didn't think she had ever run after someone quite this fast, but she was determined to get this man. This Death Eater. Merlin, if it was the last thing she did. She may have changed her name, but some people still knew. Some people still did their reading. She was a Mulciber, and if Catrine wanted to stick around... she had to prove that none of that mattered to her. That she didn't care for the Mulciber name and everything it stood for. So she would have to run down this man. The fire and explosions of Flourish and Blotts were still going on just a block away, but Catrine was so close to catching this one... she couldn't give it up. This would be her capture, and it would be a tale to tell. And then people would be talking about Catrine Lindstrom.

Catrine didn't need a wand to take this man down. With a brusque wave of her hand, she conjured shards of glass that quickly formed a snake and shot straight towards the man at lightning speed. It struck his back, embedded itself into his skin as it broke through the fabric of his cloak, and he quickly fell to the ground. Catrine wasted no time to disarm him and remove his mask and...

"Fionn?" This couldn't be right. Her father. Merlin. Well, he still deserved to rot. More than any of them, as far as she was concerned. But something was stopping her. Maybe it was the look of pain on his face, maybe the undeniable fact that she was half of him... and in the next moment, Catrine waved her hand and said the countercurse. She turned her back on him without another word, quick to head back to where the explosions were still going on.
