It's far better than casual chat
Karel had been enjoying being home finally. The last few weeks of school had been full of people getting more raucous as exams started to draw to a close. He too, was glad the exams were coming to an end but that hadn't meant that he was going to become an idiotic child running around all the time. Whilst he could appreciate that people were excited, it meant that he, the other Prefects and the Head Boy and Girl had all had their work cut out trying to keep the other students in check. At least there had been some students that hadn't been completely immature, those who had titles seemed to have the same mindset as him, as had the students with a proper upbringing. The students he could tolerate, in short. Because of how hectic things had been in the last week though, it had meant his time with Oralie had been sorely limited and now that they were out of the school until September, he was glad that he and his girlfriend could finally be able to spend quality time together without having to keep up appearance, then of course there were far more opportunities for them to have privacy and he was going to take full advantage of that when he could.

He'd invited Oralie to meet him at the social club later that evening, he knew his mother had certain rules and regulations to spend time in the building and even though his girlfriend wasn't a member of the club, she was a Slughorn and like Karel and his family, the fact of her blood status gave him confidence that his mother would probably be alright with her being in attendance at the club, especially if she was attending with him. Karel never brought people home or invited people to a place of such social standing, but as his mother knew Oralie wasn't just a 'person' she was a lady and she would have the correct etiquette and be able to act appropriately in the large building and that wasn't even taking into consideration that he had a very acquired taste in love interests. Miranda had been a mistake yes, but not Oralie. She was everything that his family approved of and she would not bring shame or disgust if she spent a large amount of time in the club and if other people of particular status saw her, the Slughorns were just as well known and respected as the Kopitars and the Higgs, just in a different way in some cases.

Karel strolled across the foyer of his mother's club, his phone in hand and his brow furrowed. Whilst he appreciated that his father had bought him such a high end phone - one of the few decent things he'd done for him lately - the blonde was still trying to wrap his head around how to use the thing. So far he'd managed to work out if he pressed a person's name it called them and Oralie had promised to teach him about something called snapchat when she came to see him. The weird virtual letters you could send to people were still something he was trying to learn to but the tapping the letters was so annoying and then when words changed to words he didn't want, it pissed him off. He'd decided to wait until he saw Oralie to even attempt them again, she'd teach him. For now, all he'd done was press the button with her name and called her.

He was telling her about a rottweiler pup he'd seen up for adoption in a muggle pet shop and wast trying to come up with a way to convince his mother to let him take it on. She'd already told him she wouldn't mind if he took full responsibility for it and Karel had expected that, but his mother had also gone on to say that his father would have to watch the dog when Karel was back at school and Karel wasn't sure if he'd even trust his father with rearing any dog he adopted properly. Karel had his reasons for wanting one and they involved it being not only a companion but extra protection when he graduated. He had ideas for a career path and his under the table businesses and whilst in school it was safe and easy to manipulate people. Out in the real world, it would be much harder and much riskier which is where the dog would come in.

There was a crack beside him and a little squeak of a greeting and Karel glanced down at the house elf that was looking up at him anxiously. Karel wondered how long it would be before his mother convinced one to come and be their own personal elf. Their home was big and with neither of his parents having their magic, things were more of a chore for them now, then it was before. "Master Higgs, sir!" The house elf squeaked, bouncing on the balls of his feet and Karel arched a brow, exchanged a quick goodbye with his Oralie and hung up. "What is it?" He asked, trying to sound polite as he addressed the creature.
"Mistress Higgs is looking for you, sir. I was sent to bring you to her."
"I don't need to be escorted to her, I'll make my way there. Just tell her I'll be there momentarily." He continued, walking past the elf and up to the drinks bar, taking a pumpkin juice he was offered before heading towards where he knew his mother often spent her time.

The wizard rapped his knuckles on the door lightly and sipped his drink as he pushed the door open, "How long have you had that House Elf waiting for me?" Karel asked, a slight hint of amusement to his voice as he crossed the room and stood before her. "Is everything okay?" He added on, cocking his head to the side as he slipped his phone into his jacket pocket.
