She hadn’t honestly expected to have any plans for her birthday. Maybe that was unfair. Constance knew that it might have been. But she had been feeling so isolated from her own family that she didn’t really expect anything for her birthday. She was sure that whatever was done would likely happen in London with everyone else—even if that was an unfair thing to think, it was where her mind had been regardless. Constance had known that Liam would have likely planned something, and she was sure that it was going to be nice, whatever it was. But she hadn’t thought that there would be much of anything else planned for her birthday. She hadn’t thought that she and Temperance would be following their normal traditions this year.

Her twin showing up around half an hour before the official start of their birthday had been a surprise. She had not so much as packed anything or thought anything about what their plans would be even if they did spend their birthday together, but she had gotten on board with the idea quickly. Obviously, she was not going to say no to spending the day with her twin on their birthday, even if their relationship was more than a little strained as of late. After her last surprise visit to see Tempe at work, Constance had thought a break was necessary. Initiating contact hadn’t done her all that well, and she figured that Temperance would come to her if she wanted to see her. And if she didn’t… well then, that was fine. She would be fine on her own.

Her coming by had been unexpected, but they’d had a good day. They had started their birthday off by sleeping over at the beach house and having no obligations all day had been nice too. They had been able to get manicures and pedicures and talk, and she would have been fine with staying in all night too. In the end, it had been decided that they were going to go out to eat. Having an excuse to get all dressed up and go to a restaurant by the beach house was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Of course, the two of them and their two guards had painted an interesting picture while the two remained standing, but Constance was nothing if not a skilled sweet talker.
