From This day on, we will be family
When Mikhael had returned to the UK, he had insisted he was not getting married. He had not found anyone suitable back in Bulgaria and he wasn’t going to find anyone here. His parents had had other ideas with them speaking to the Zabini family them bethroing their daughter to him. Mikhael knew she should have seen that coming, it was the last decision that they would hopefully ever make for him. He was an adult who had a respectable job. He was not a pureblood playboy who did as he pleased whenever he wanted, even if he wanted to do exactly that at times. He had seen the effects of the decisions they had made for their children and he didn’t want it. He wanted to live his own life but he was not about to completely lose his relationship with his parents.

Maybe because he had some deluded idea that if he maintained a relationship with them, he could fix their relations with Astrid. But deep down he knew that would never happen. Astrid was equally stubborn as their parents were. Mikhael didn’t know how he would react if any of his children were Squibs. Children were still far off for him and Amelia but he knew he would have to have some idea of how to react. He would never want to break up his family for that kind of reason. It was something that he and Amelia would have to talk about.

Today and tonight though, was about them enjoying the moment. Their wedding would definitely be an event to remember. After all, his parents had hired out the entire castle for them to hold the ceremony and the reception. He had thought that his place would be a little too spooky for his new bride and that was the last memory he wanted Amelia to have of this evening. He thought he knew her well enough but she had surprised him by suggesting that she would be find with this castle. When she moved in with him, they would have a much smaller flat than this grand place. They both worked at the ministry and he didn't see any point in them having a place they were hardly going to spend time at. Sure, there were the weekends but with him being an Auror he could be sent away on missions and he didn’t want to leave her on her own in a large house.

One day they would have children and they would need a bigger house and he would want his children to be able to fly or play Quidditch but he would wait for that. Of course if Amelia objected to living in a flat then he would decide when they would go and look at manors. While Mikhael was proud of the wealth that his family and he had, he didn’t think it was natural that all pureblood families had to live in a manor. While their family would not be wholly pureblood, it would be the majority of it. He didn’t see that he was doing the Zabini family any favours by marrying their daughter. He didn’t owe Blaine anything. He wanted Amelia to be happy.

She had just graduated from school and was still young and she didn’t need to be tied down so soon but their wedding had been a year in the planning and now they were here at the reception.

Mikhael had finished speaking with his father, a very unpleasant conversation it had been when he saw his bride making her way over to him. He smiled and held out a goblet of water for her. Champagne was on offer as well if she was to prefer something stronger. ”Enjoying your night, I hope?”” he asked facing her and placing one hand on her hip gently.

[attr="class","cbody"]The invitation for this wedding had come when everything had been a lot simpler. She would have gone with Liam—and maybe it would have been fun. Probably not, if she was being perfectly honest with herself, if only because a Travers was marrying a halfblood. There had been plenty of whispers about that, and plenty of confusion about the point of an arranged marriage if you were arranging to sully your line. She was sure that there were going to be plenty of people that were here tonight that had those thoughts but would never dream of saying them out loud. Instead, they’d smile and wish them well, and secretly be thinking that the Travers family was flushing their lineage down the toilet. Zabini or not, Amelia was still a halfblood. It was definitely a questionable choice.
[break][break]
But Constance did not make a habit of rubbing her nose in other people’s business or casting judgment on it. Other people would, but she wasn’t going to. Instead, she was using this night for another purpose. She was confused. She was conflicted. She was about a dozen other emotions and she knew that there was only one person that she could talk to about it. Her relationship with her family had been rocky for ages now, with her feeling like she had been on the outskirts for quite some time. There were plenty of people that she felt like she couldn’t talk to about this, but recently, she thought there was one person that she might be able to get advice from.
[break][break]
And that was Temperance. Since their birthday, their relationship had been on the mend. As much as she knew there was the potential for her notoriously prim sister’s opinion of her to worsen at hearing all of this, she also knew there was a chance that maybe she would be able to help. To give her some idea of what to do, because she just didn’t know.
[break][break]
Jarred Rookwood had invited her to drinks and had told her that he was interested in her. That he wanted to court her. And she should have just let him down easy. She had a ring on her finger that decidedly put her off of the market but Jarred was… different. She had been thinking about him more than she should have been since she’d seen him last, and a silly part of her also hoped that he would be here tonight.
[break][break]
That was part of the reason why she’d asked Temperance to be her date, instead of Liam. She could spend time with her sister, get her advice, and hopefully have a few hours to relax and have a good time. “So what are our opinions on this place as a venue?” She asked, raising her eyebrows at her twin as she took a sip of her champagne.

He hated being social, and rubbing elbows with purebloods was one of the more boring things that he had to do, but Darren and his mother had pushed him into coming here, into doing this. He had to go since everyone else was, their mother had taken Lyra, Darren had a date from work, and Tib was left alone. He was finding that as time went on he wasn't missing Winona. It made a part of him sad, but it proved to him that she was right, Sab was right. She was one of those people that just told him how it was, what he needed to hear, and it was going to work one way or another. He had stopped listening to her a long time ago and he wished that he hadn't. They had been horrible at being married, but they were pretty good at being friends. He didn't know what to think, or what to do most of the time so he just asked her. He talked to her and went from there.

He hated getting all dressed up only to be paraded around like he was something to be bought, a side of meat up for grabs, but thanks to his music that sort of kept a lot of the more insane ones away from him. At least from his point of view. He didn't like to deal with those sorts though. He didn't agree with any of them honestly, but he went with it because the family was everything and that damn stick his mother somehow always had hurt like a bitch. He smirked down at the witch beside him and winked at her. She was his friend, and just that. Yes, he flirted to see her get flustered, but it was more just for fun. For now at least.

"So, this is a pureblood event. If you watch carefully you will see the cliques forming up." He teased her quietly.

Travers Wedding
from this day on
two will become one

The Lord Rookwood was exhausted already with wedding season. The Le Fay-Selwyn affair had been grand, but he expected the Zabini-Travers even to seek to upstage all other weddings this summer. The Lady Gamp was the grandmother of the bride by marriage; and the seer had quite the reputation for grand displays of wealth, particularly on events such as these. Jarred was sure no expense had been spared. But no amount of grandeur could cover the unfortunate truth of the bride's birth mother. That was why the event had to be so extravagant. It was almost as if there was some hope that incredibly beautiful flower arrangements could repair the poor girl's blood status.

He had his sister on his arm. They had been making rounds, greeting and conversing with others of respectable houses.  But for this moment it was just the two of them, a conversation had just finished with The Lady Gamp and there was no one immediately in their vicinity.
"Really is a pity about her mother," he whispered softly to Sorrel. His lips were close to her ear and his voice very low. Jarred was not a gossip; he would never have said such a thing to anyone except his sister. It would have been disrespectful, but he knew that the youngest Rookwood would not say anything out of turn. She was far too demure for that-- his perfect baby sister. "But you are a vision." The wizard promised, standing back to his full height as he complimented his companion for the evening. It was an honor to be able to escort Sorrel here this evening-- and only proper. They were both unwed and unbetrothed.  Jarred might have had interest in Constance Mountbatten, but the witch was still engaged to Liam Flint. He had given her no deadline on terminating the engagement, but had insisted he would not seek her company until she had ended the arrangement. It was in the best interest of both their reputations and his heart to keep his distance from the captivating prima. He had not seen her during the ceremony, but surely she would be in attendance. The Rookwood expected to find her on the arm of the unincredible obliviator, a sight he would be much happier to do without.

As much as he wished Constance was available to be on his arm, he was equally resistant to the idea of Sorrel being at the side of another man. Sorrel was far too good for most men. Of all the lords that were in need of a wife, not one struck him as worthy. Not of her. She was dedicated to the church, to the family. She deserved a man with values that would align with her own. She deserved a husband who would treat her with the respect and honor due such a woman. Jarred failed to trust any man he knew to be able to do that. But he knew she would surely want to marry soon. She deserved the opportunity to build a family, to bear and raise children. No matter how he wished to keep her safe within Coldham Hall always. He could not do so forever. But a bit longer would be okay. He could keep her to himself just a bit longer.

From this day on
Two are one
and things will never be the same
She loved wedding season and all that it brought with it. Mainly that she got to be shown off by her brother and she got to get out of the house. Sure, she went to work and did her shopping and what have you, but there was something about being in a social setting that was different. Being escorted by her brother made it better, made it easier to do because she knew that she would always be on her best behavior, to please him. She liked to see that he was happy with her, and with the choices that they made, she also knew that she was one of the few women of their acquaintance, that who was a pureblood and actually liked like a pure woman. She held her relationship with God above all others, save for her brother. He was the only one that really saw her as herself. He saw her as the one thing that she was, perfect. She was perfect for him, because of him. She didn't need anyone else's approval but his, and she always got it.

She was a pureblood and she would be given the match that her brother thought was proper, so she wouldn't end up like this. This half-blood who thought that she had a right to any fortune or power because of who her father was. It astounded her that one who thought that she had all of this because of who she was made her laugh a little when she had found out. They acted like all the flowers flash and facade would change anything. The line was now tainted they were going to be parading around half breed children and here they were celebrating it. Her father would be rolling over in his grave if this were her brother. It was scandalous. Lady Gamp was nice enough and she did what she could, but it wasn't her fault. After all, the girl was not of her blood and they had done what they could to repair what Blaise had done, but it was still... horrifying. To have such a... tragedy on one's tree... well, frankly she would be too embarrassed to show her face in public, let alone try and breed with it. She would brew a poison for them all before even allowing the beast to touch her.

She wished them luck and felicity as she did every married couple they came upon. When her brother whispered in her ear she made a soft sound that was far too ladylike to be considered a snort and flitted her eyes to her brother. "It's more the pity that she is a mark of her parent's sin and being celebrated like she's not a bastard. The ere fact is brother, they got her a good match, but what they have done is ended the reputation of both families. Who will want the half-blood Travers they will have. Bad enough that many Squibs mark the family tree." She said before shaking her head and looked away.

Sorrel had spent days on her outfit and made sure that everything was properly fitted colored and covered. She loved this time of year, but she had to make sure that she looked appropriate. Deryn had helped her with her hair and had put little clips in the top to help hold the curls in place since she could no longer charm her hair to stay in place. The long curls hung down her back, and the front was modestly pulled away from her face, while the lace of the top of her dress covered everything that she didn't want to be seen and kept it away from sweaty hands of those who should not be touching her. "I wonder if we will be seeing the Malfoys tonight. " She had some work that she wanted to discuss with Draco, though it was nothing that could not wait. She did consider the man to be a friend and in this social setting he was an appropriate friend to have.

Amelia’s wedding had finally arrived, after what seemed like far too long. Still, it had been an appropriate amount of time after the engagement, long enough to show it certainly was not wandpoint wedding. Roughly a year and a half had passed since she’d met as his future wife, and the time had passed both too quickly and too slowly.

Still, the day had finally arrived, after the previous celebrations, the henna night, and all the meticulous arrangements. Her father’s hand was in much of the planning, as was her step-mother’s. Though Amelia had decided months ago not to invite her twin, she had no doubt that his invitation would have been lost in the mail had she felt the urge to. She didn’t feel lonely without him, no. She was her own person, and her younger brothers certainly filled in the roles well enough.

The day had gone according to plan, kept in check by her grandmothers. The color scheme had been kept, flowers bloomed throughout the wedding, magic artistically used during the ceremony, enough of Zabini traditions kept throughout the ceremony to please what elders decided to risk sending representatives to the magic-stricken country.

“Very much so, my dear.” The endearment tasted odd on her tongue, though the hand she took in hers certainly felt more natural. While Amelia’s heels were not overly high, she’d been treated to a smaller stretching spell to lessen their height difference. The change of eye level certainly was something she enjoyed, her eyes on the heads and faces of others, rather than their bedecked necks. Having to not reach up as much to take her husband’s hand was certainly a blessing as well.

“A flute of champagne would be lovely, I think, though I believe that it’s not wise to fight our way over there just yet.” Amelia rarely drank, though the Vanishing charm painted onto her lips would do the trick to keep her head sober and quell any thoughts that the marriage had been pressed for reasons other than alliance, though the eighteen or so months worked well enough to do so. Pity that she had been the one to suggest not to enchant the glasses to float over to guests, though she had attended weddings where they had spilled. No, it was better to reach them themselves.

“I’m pleased this day has gone so well.” The rejoining of their families was luckily not a difficult task— Zabini and Travers had never had issues, only Travers and Bones. She was the second Zabini daughter to wed a Travers and her dilution of the pure bloodline was only secondary, thankfully. They never would have wed had he been the heir, and Amelia preferred it that way.

When his parents had come to Mikhael with the news that he was to marry a Zabini, he had thought about fighting them on their decision. However, he was still very devoted to them and he had wanted to remain faithful to their wishes. He had remained very much aligned to their ways for a number of weeks after he had moved to the UK. But then he had seen Astrid and how she was living her life and he knew that he had to work on repairing his relationship with her. He knew to embark on that task it was going to take some time and that there was going to be some resistance from her. He didn’t expect anything less from his youngest sister. Astrid was tough but she was also vulnerable and he knew that their parents had been a big factor in making her that way. He was going to work on it though because even if she denied it, she needed him. There was still some way to go for the siblings. What their parents had put each of them through had been wrong and really, no amount of time could fix but Mikhael wanted to try.

He was glad she had come to the wedding. Their parents were too as that was expected since they had been instrumental in this union. He wondered if the Zabinis had offered something extra to his parents because they were getting a halfblood daughter-in-law. Normally Mikhael would have looked down on halfbloods but he thought were something special about Amelia. Like his sister, she too was vulnerable and he thought there was no point in her being punished for something that was beyond her control. This was not a time to call out differences and to look down on his marriage because his to-be wife’s blood status was not the same as his.

It had a strange flow-on effect because this then would change how he approached his work. When he had begun working as an Auror in Bulgaria, they had all looked down on halfbloods since most of them had been purebloods. Those that had been halfbloods just never spoke out or lied through their teeth. Mikhael to work with and handle cases of halfbloods too because there was no point in pushing aside a case because they were of a different blood type. It helped him be a better Auror. He hoped that Amelia understood that being the wife of Auror meant a lot of time on her own if he was sent away on a mission.

It was for this reason why he had yet to move into a manor. He had only just moved out of Knockturn Alley a few weeks ago. Mikhael didn’t think it was not appropriate that he asked his new wife to move into a flat in what could be a very dangerous area. He wanted to protect her and to look after her. He knew that it was important to not come on too strong with their affections. Mikhael wasn’t that kind of guy anyway, he wasn’t overly into public displays save for the kiss they had shared during the ceremony.

Now it was time to celebrate their union. He smiled at her and squeezed it gently. It was going to work out for them, he wanted it to work out for them. Anyone who knew Mikhael would call him a commitment-phobe but he was hoping that he could change his ways for Amelia. He thought she deserved it.

”You’re right Amelia, it seems that everyone had alcohol on their minds” he threw an amused look in the direction of where the bar was before looking at her. She did look so lovely today and he knew he hadn’t told her that yet. ”I am glad it went well too. Were you nervous about the day?” he asked, hoping he hadn’t put her on the spot but it was right to feel nervous about this if that was how she felt.
