Today was a fairytale
can you feel this magic in the air?
Amelia's wedding day - Bridal Dressing Room

June 30th, 2019

Her granddaughter was getting married today. Well, her step-granddaughter. Hesper considered Amelia to be part of the family despite her unfortunate parentage. It was not the girl's fault and Amelia was trying to be what her father's name marked her as. This match with the Travers family was respectable and elevated the witch. Hesper approved of the pairing. Her daughter's influence on Amelia, too, was a great blessing for the girl. The only sadness Hesper had in respect to the young woman was the fact that she had not taken to ballet. Of course, there was more to life than the arts, but she would have enjoyed sharing that with Amelia.

Still, she was very proud of the path that the young lady had chosen for her life. Her studies and work at the Ministry were both very respectable. Hesper was strongly in favor of women being educated and well employed. Clearly, she was one of the most powerful women in the country, respected by the light and the dark, fear by some, too, due to her gifts. Even wixens seemed to doubt or fail to understand divination. She would never understand the fear of a seer. Nothing that she had to say was brought about because she said it. The future held what it held. It did not make it so because she saw it or spoke the prophecies aloud.

The Lady Gamp followed her daughter back to wear Amelia was quarantined before the ceremony. Traditions were being observed, of course. No groom was to lay eyes on his bride before she was presented at the aisle. All grace and elegance, Hesper floated along into the room with the young woman--taking in the bride on her very special day. The seer's eyes softened at the sight. Truly, Amelia was a vision. Her dark complexion against the white of her wedding dress made for a beautiful contrast. Hesper wished, and for not the first time, that her own complexion had more color to it instead of the ivory porcelain.

But today was not a day to dwell even one moment on her own vanity. She was here in celebration of her granddaughter, to uplift the Zabini as she took the name Travers.
"You look exquisite, darling," the witch said sweetly. A gentle, wise smile was offered along with the words. It was the sort of expression that promised that she knew more than was ever spoken. Hesper had cultivated the look over her lifetime. Many hours had been spent in her youth mastering it in front of a mirror. The duty of the seer was to give all the sense of comfort and positivity. It cultivated hope--and that was key for happiness.

Her thoughts drifted to her own wedding day. She, too, had been married soon after her graduation from Hogwarts. Her anniversary was not even a week prior. It had passed without any celebration as it had for years. There was the familiar pang of loss at the absence of Regulus from her side today and every day. She had lived the life of a widow for nearly twenty years now. But she still missed the man who she had built her life with. It would have been very nice to have someone by her side today during this celebration of love and promise. She wondered, though, was there any love yet between the bride and groom. This was an arranged marriage--hers had been the same. But she had come to love Regulus- in her own way. And he had surely loved her. He did everything within his power to give her happiness during his years with her. It was greedy to wish she was not alone now when her marriage had been so full of joy. But this had been a difficult year. Truly.

The loss of her magic was a difficult adjustment to make. Especially since she was still servant to the Inner Eye. She prayed that it was Circe's will that today pass without prophecy. Hesper did not want to be falling under the control of the Fates during the wedding vows. It would be incredibly embarrassing to be shouting in such a moment. Perhaps it would be wise to request that her son place a silencing charm over her during the ceremony. Now that the idea was in her mind, she was sure that was the wiser choice.
